Blanesta Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Come on Mr Pearson lets get this gentleman signed up!
Adster Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Why do you like QPR so much? Please don't start him off again...
Robin JD Popley Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 I think I now understand what Col's point was/is. He's nothing against Cambiasso, in fact he quite likes him BUT in future would everyone mind just asking Col first whether we can be excited about transfer speculation as Col might be privy to things we've not considered such as a persons age or whether they are as good as Lee Catermole In simple terms it goes like this Is there are new signing mooted? YES/NO NO = no need to ask Col YES = Is the player a DM? YES/NO NO = don't sign him we need a DM (unless it is Martyn Waghorn then go striaght to MarkW) YES = Easy, lets not get ahead of ourselves, Is this person over 30? YES/NO YES = This player is clearly one step away from a dignitas clinic, DO NOT SIGN? NO = Is it JET? YES/NO YES = congratulations you MUST be excited even though you secretly think JET is shit NO = This is terrible news.... unless it is Lee Catermole Haha, quite possibly one of my favourite posts on here so far mate. Brilliant!

MC Prussian Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Im not at all surprised at how I percieve this thread has progressed. It essentially kicked off with surprise and delight at our being linked with Cambiasso. Images were created of posters 'spaffing' at the prospect Then, in usual Babylon fashion, glibness pervaded and of course, the playground mentality prevailed, everyone jumped on the bandwagon and any discussion gets lost amongst all the piss-taking. Col, once more, becomes a QPR fan... In summary.. absolutely my feelings towards us signing Cambiasso are very mixed. Im never sure of signing older, overseas players who are edging towards the end of their careers. A player like Ronaldhino, NOW, I would not touch with a barge-pole. To do so would be to remind me of the Sven days and the complete fookin cock-up that was made then. Given the choice of Isla, for example, or Cambiasso.. I'd take the former in a heart beat. He's younger, fitter and with a point to prove. Cambiasso has done it all and has nothing to prove. I imagine him joining us would be a pay day, nothing more. Its my own fault. I saw it before re. the news that we were getting Sven and then Beckford. For some reason, the majority on here will quickly dismiss ANY suggestion of questioning. It seems almost 'disloyal' perhaps to not jump on the bandwagon of positivity. But, I'll do two things: I'll stand by my not immediately claiming that signing Cambiasso would be fantastic AND I'll be the first to claim that I was wrong if we sign him and he turns out to be our key signing of the summer. Personally, given all things considered, Id be happier to be linked with a player like Lee Cattermole. Hows that for fence sitting? In essence, you're admitting that you either have no clue about football outside of the Isle or you hate foreign players with a certain passion. The funny part of all of this is that it'll be too late before you realize what a fool you've made yourself look like in this thread. Lee Cattermole.
Mark_w Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Is Col not knowing an awful lot about football new to you people? Do you not remember the Pearson Out summer? No offense Col, I'm just amazed it's taken people this long.

Haydos Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Best years gone..I'd say no wow!!!!!! At last... So Messi is 34....best years gone...I'd say no? It doesn't fooking work like that and giving that for a reason is stupid. Col has basically admitted to it and I'm 99% sure you haven't seen him play in the last couple of years either. Writing him off because he's a bit old is ridiculous.

The funny part of all of this is that it'll be too late before you realize what a fool you've made yourself look like in this thread. Lee Cattermole. People can take the piss all they like. As I said, I fully expected it so its like water off a ducks back.I stand by what I said. I have reservations about this signing. Id also like to see Cattermole in a City shirt. I said the same in the Jan transfer window. Well controlled (I believe Nige could do this) he'd compliment our midfield for the next five years if required, not one or two. Absolutely. The only surprise I have is that others don't see this. There's others too. The lad from West Ham i'd take no problem. But when groupthink gets going, that's what happens I guess?
Captain... Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 This does seem more like a Harry Redknapp signing than a Nigel Pearson signing. But the fact that if we do sign him, means that Nige and his team have signed off on the deal, which means he isn't just signing him for the name, but because he thinks he can do a job. It is a risk bringing in a 34 year old who isn't used to playing in the Premiership, but as with all Pearson signings he would have assessed his ability, fitness and attitude and not just spraffed himself at the name Pearson has put his foot down over "name" signings before, Jimmy Floyd, Edgar Davids, he didn't want them anywhere near his team as they couldn't do the job. As I fan I will spraff myself if we sign Cambiasso repeatedly and unashamedly, but I'm holding back until Nige gives me the nod.
Robin JD Popley Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 This also applies... P.S. For the record, as I've said elsewhere in this thread, I don't think he is too old - class is permanent!
bovril Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 Small point of order... it was Allen who put his foot down over Jimmy. I agree it's risky and I see the point that if it was another club we wouldn't be so kind about his age and lack of Prem experience. Still I'd be chuffed if we pull it off....

But can you explain why you feel Lee Cattermole is a better replacement when Cambiasso was a well established Argetinian international, was an effective player in both the Serie A and La Liga, and was still a consistent player for Inter last year?

KFS Posted 8 August 2014 Posted 8 August 2014 I honestly think he'd rather QPR stay up than Leicester

You are surprised fans aren't that bothered about a player who has been sent off seven times in his career, booked in countless others and generally is just a bit average?
