maddog Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 Oh the nostalgia! We are back in the bigtime and I haven't posted one of these since I was an immature, crazy teen. Things have changed somewhat now haha... (A little bit) Everton are coming to town, buoyed by the signing of Romelu Lukaku. He's dangerous and a man to fear should he start, but rumours of an injury gives us much more of a chance. Along with the questionable fitness of Mirallas and Coleman. Ross Barkley is the man that needs to be stopped. Can anyone in our midfield/defence even slow him down after some mesmorizing performances over the Premier League's elite last season? Its an old cliche but the first goal will be absolutely vital. We need to get through this match without having our confidence destroyed... Should we somehow 'do a Bolton' like back at Filbert Street it would take a bold fan to think we will get anything at Stamford Bridge or subsequently Arsenal the weekend after. I think the close knitted group will stand firm in this one. A few heavy Premier League washes may leave those threads lint. The question is: Can Pearson put those back together during our inevitable runs of losses in the Premier League? Only time will tell. I think we will be a lot more all guns blazing and up for this one than Everton. And its a blessing at this point to have only had one player who played just 90 minutes at the World Cup, I think we will be fresher than them. I'm going for an optimistic 2-1 win. Martinez will have them well prepared for us but their players won't be expecting the quality and the LCFC attacking onslaught they shall receive. In the long run I think we will be strong at home which will keep us up. Vardy and Ulloa with the goals, Pienaar for them. Up the City!!! Come on!!!!!
ScouseFox Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 jesus christ i can't be the only one who thinks we might lose?!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 THE OPTIMETER IS BACK ITS LIKE LEAGUE ONE ALL OVER AGAIN. 2-0 Everton. Comfortable in all.
Captain... Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 jesus christ i can't be the only one who thinks we might lose?! You're looking for the pessimeter, this is for the optimists. Boom!
ScouseFox Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 this place has never been optimistic. there was never even championship optimeters against people like barnsley that looked like this one!!
Kitchandro Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 I think the optimism can get us the 3 points if we use it to get at them early. I'd love to see Vardy start, him foaming at the mouth backed up by the likes of Mahrez getting at them could reap rewards. They may be a better team than us but if we can catch them on their heels we can spring a surprise. I'm really looking forward to it, we have some very exciting players. We can't be conceding too many free kicks in dangerous positions though.
casablancas Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 I think we will spring a surprise for the national press and get a result. It'll be tight and all but think we shall come out on top. I think Everton's poor pre season will hinder them.
theessexfox Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 I think Everton have more than enough to comfortably see us off
Stadt Posted 12 August 2014 Posted 12 August 2014 I've gone with a draw which was more in hope than expectation.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 So much depends on how Drinky and James can control the game, thought a few weeks back we are a chance but with a small squad and our injuries i'm not as optimistic. Would take a draw
Nick Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Depends on injuries for me and wether we have the personnel to play the chosen formation.
lgfualol Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 I dont think we can win, but perhaps a draw so I have gone for that. Edit. They'll play everything down the right against Konch and that will our downfall.
Finnaldo Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 1-1. A draw would be good to get some points on the board. A win would be fantastic.
justfoxes Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 I'll go for a cheeky 2-1 win for city, 1-1 with 2 min to go then an Ulloa header !! Wonder what odds you'll get for that bet ?
andog Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 2-1 defeat. Not being pessimistic, I just feel with Atsu and Lukaku being added we'll struggle to get the ball off them
JJS84 Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 hopeful of a draw, that's what I voted for. But this is first game of the season, first game back for us and for a lot of our lads first game in this league, I think that extra boost of adrenaline could maybe just give us the edge, but having said that it could also work the opposite way. Personally I wouldn't be surprised at any one of the 3 outcomes, that is to say I don't think any one result is more likely that the other.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 13 August 2014 Posted 13 August 2014 Think Nige will play with one up front Ulloa , keep it tight in midfield and not be too adventuress and hope for a breakaway goal to sit on. So i'm going for a one nil to us with us under the cosh for the last fifteen minutes.
