I know we are just "Leicester City" but I'm (And before this whole thing broke last night) getting really fvcked off with the whole media "Love-in" with Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, L'pool etc. FFS, we have just pulled off one of the shock transfers of the year, have signed an Argentina legend, a former Real Madrid and Inter Milan player who's won multiple major titles and competitions and is the most decorated Argentine player ever (Di Stefano being another) and for the most part of it, we are just getting a mention here and there. When I heard last night (40 mins before it broke but was made to promise not to say) I put Sky Sports News, and TalkSport on waited and listened as the story came out. Wish I hadn't bothered! All they could do last night on TS Sports Bar was ridicule Leicester and ask people to tell what they must have said to Cambiasso to "Sell" Leicester to him. taking the piss basically, although one of the presenters was excited. Have put TS on again this morning and again, hardly a mention. Can't help but think that if this was one of the top 5/6 clubs who had signed him, they would be squeezing this for every drop of what they could get out of it and spend the next 72 hours creaming their pants in every show. Maybe I'm expecting too much or am missing something but I thought it was TalkSport, not TalkManu, TalkArsenal, TalkChelsea. etc. Even Sky Sports News are only showing him missing a header??? WTF! Rant Over!

That's not a dig at Mr Peters, in fact he seems to be the only bearable one. TS just seems to be a broadcast version of the Lad Bible. I think they take pleasure in content that wouldn't typically follow BBC/Sky politically correct guidelines. ... when you look at some of the journos working there it's not a surprise.

Shot down in flames, metaphorically speaking, Let's hope that Cambiasso proves all he's cracked up to be, by our own fans. If not, this could make the unfounded adulation of signing Mr.Beckford pale into insignificance. Great name, has been a great player. I hope he's still got it. But I wanna see him play this season before I hail him as the footballing Messiah.

I thought their sports reporter was going to have a heart attack. Giving a quick sports bulletin, all he could talk about was Cambiasso signing for Leicester - soon became clear that he is a City fan through and through! To be honest, the Cambiasso signing is exciting for us, but it's not really earth-shattering in the great scheme of things. In his pomp, he was one of the very best midfielders in the world, a star in a great side: but he's 34 now, and we've got him right at the end of his career. If we had signed somebody like Diego Costa, the world out there would have been excited. But we haven't, so they're not. Not that I am particularly bothered. I think Cambiasso will be good for us, and particularly good for our young midfielders. He's a symbol of where we are heading, and it can only be good. Bring on the Ar$e I say.

You say that but the first text I got after signing him was from an Arsenal season ticket holding mate saying he was worried about Sunday now that we have Cambiasso

Captain... Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Enjoy flying under the radar, we'll do our talking on the pitch. As for Arsenal I doubt very much he will start, his fitness is probably low, but his presence around the club will hopefully have an immediate impact.

Sky might talk here and there about clubs such as ourselves, but at the end of the day people will want to hear about the top clubs. I can remember when we got promoted, the biggest headline was Moyes getting sacked. Why? Because it's Manchester United. You know, when United lose the opposition aren't given credit, it's always "poor performance from Manchester United". I'm not to overly fussed because I get bored of the stupid comments regarding Leicester (and other clubs) by people who don't know anything.

Rant Over! I think you answered your own question. To the national media we are " just Leicester City", and the chances are they will always look at us like that. Last Saturday was a prime example, the national medias way of dressing it up was that it wasn`t how well we played against Chelsea,as to why they struggled against us for an hour, it was because of how poor Chelsea were, until they had a bollocking from Jose. We had it all the time during the O`Neil days too, win at Old Trafford and Anfield, and it was because Man Utd and Liverpool had been poor on the day, nothing to do with us being better on the day. To be honest, as i`ve got older, it doesn`t bother me so much now, because i know what`s coming, and also because when we do beat one of the "media Darlings", it makes it all the sweeter.

I think everyone is aware that he's 34 and having his last hurrah. Nobody expects him to keep us up single-handedly, because as I said this isn't just about what he does on the pitch. It's about the motivational advice he can dish out in the dressing room, the tactical advice he can offer in the dressing room, the technical advice he can offer on the training pitch. It's about his potential to influence James and Drinkwater and help them progress as players. It's about raising the profile of our Club and promoting Leicester City FC, getting our name out there across the world, it's about selling shirts and much more. This is a marquee signing in everything but price tag, the guy is the most decorated player to ever play for us. However good he is now on the pitch, its a landmark moment for our Club and a real coup.

Be honest, if it wasn't Leicester signing him, you'd wonder how they managed to tempt him, so they went for a light-hearted look at possibilities (totally in jest). Virtually every news outlet I've seen seems impressed with the move.

If you want unbiased, in-depth and thoughtful discussion, you are expecting far too much. Few mainstream media cover football particularly well anymore for me, they just hyperbole and as you've said, cover the big teams. The independent podcasts, websites and blogs are far more in depth and knowledgeable.

Not sure how long you've been a fan and how many seasons you can remember but this is my 28th season and we never get talked about with the big names. Even in the MON glory years, we never got the credit. We went to places like Chelsea, Man Utd, Spurs and Liverpool and took 3 points at all of them and yet it was because those sides didn't match our "industry, effort & workrate". We played better football and made them look silly in their own backyards but the press will never report that because it's not what the armchair gloryfan or Top 5 fan wants to read and will lose them readers. This is the same. We could sign 3 or 4 more decent players and it won't get the coverage and will get talked down because we're a little town in the Midlands. Having said all that, I go with Col. I've never sung a players name until he's performed well and I'll reserve judgement. If he's no better than our other midfielders, the wait won't have been worth it.
