brisfox Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Over the last 50 years I have been to hundreds of City games. I was thinking about the worst ref I have seen. The City vs Athletico Madrid game at Filbert St in 1997 takes some beating. The ref was called Remi Harrel, he sent Gary Parker off for taking a free kick too early and denied City 4 of the clearest pens you have ever seen. Nearly 17 years later, I am still mad about it. Martin O'Neill described it as the worst performance by a ref he had ever seen.
pSinatra Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 "My mate's the ref" Don't remember his name.........but he was brilliantly awful
TheUltimateWinner Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 "My mate's the ref" Don't remember his name.........but he was brilliantly awful Gavin FVCKING Ward

Martin O'Neill described it as the worst performance by a ref he had ever seen. That ref was either bribed or exhibiting blatant favouritism. Doesn't necessarily make him a bad ref, just a cheat. By far the worst was Gavin Ward, totally out of his depth in the championship let alone league 2 where they were also complaining about him being one of the worst they'd ever seen. He's the one that sent Pearson off at half time v Boro and let the match descend into a dirty foul-fest

A ref is supposed to be impartial, if he wasn't, he's a bad ref!
gerrytaggart Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 That whole 'my mates the ref' thing was hilarious.
RobHawk Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 I also throw that **** (Mike Reid) at Chelsea a few years back with the blatant dive that became a penalty (Again i think something very fishy happened here)

A ref is supposed to be impartial, if he wasn't, he's a bad ref! Doesn't mean he doesn't have the skill to referee the game properly or impartially. Gavin Ward just doesn't.
Fox92 Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 I just put Mason, but yeah let's elaborate. One of the worst refs I've seen. I forget the number of penalties he's given against us. Sheffield United away comes into my mind. Even at Chelsea earlier this season he gave everything their way.

Martin O'Neill described it as the worst performance by a ref he had ever seen. He wasn't bad, he was a cheat. Got the sack for it I think. Gavin Ward was spectacularly bad. Probably the worst all round performance I've seen in the Middlesbrough match. John Moss cost us our first win at Forest for 39 years. Will never forgive the fat cvnt for that fiasco.
bovril Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 The Madrid game was as bent as Cliff Richard. The whole 90 minutes stank from start to finish. Apart from that we had some shockers in our 07/08 season, Kisnorbo sent off at Ipswich was ludicrous. But maybe the most mind-numbingly inept performance I've ever seen was from the ref at Colchester away in 2006/07, if anybody remembers it. He was so appalling it was almost funny. Think he mistakenly sent someone off, gave a penalty then changed his mind and just generally bumbled his way through the match.
Brenfox Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Agree the Madrid game. Think his name was Remi Harrell or something. Disgracful & cost us the game.
sylofox Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Ipswich away 12/13 gave a free kick for an elbow on Morgan then sent Morgan off. He gave half the throw in's opposite to the linesman and a clear peno to us he gave a free kick 3 yards outside the box. Even Ipswich fans after said he was shite and the worst ref they had seen in years.

kurssel Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Remember neither the ref nor the game ( could have been brizzle City two years ago ) - advantage played, we scored, and it was disallowed and pulled back for a free kick. Absolute farce.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Gavin Ward gave a shit performance AND walked in on Nige during his team talk. What a ****.
Aus Fox Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Shit refs we always get shit refs... Actually they haven't been that bad so far this year, The Madrid game was easily the worst, gave them everything, we had at least 2 clear cut penalties and could have had 4 on another day, when he sent off Parker I don't think I have ever been so angry at a game. Got to be one of the worst decisions in the history of European football. Mike Read (Not Frank Butcher, but equally as bent) deserves an honourable mention for THAT penalty. Anyone remember his first game at Filbo after that? every time we got a free kick the Kop went up with "you're still a f**king wa*ker"
ADK Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Mike Reid and Graham Poll were both awful referees.
benpicko Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Gavin Ward gave a shit performance AND walked in on Nige during his team talk. What a ****. http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/79557-my-mate-is-the-ref-tonight/ Gave us this thread though
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Deadman last season at Charlton was disgusting
AKCJ Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Gavin Ward had me laughing more than raging. Can't remember the ref's name but when we were 2-0 up at Forest only for him to book Kasper without telling him then send him off for 'throwing the ball away' (even though it ended up in the centre circle). I wanted to rip the ***** head off.
cambridgefox Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Deadman last season at Charlton was disgustingMate at work, still runs the line at conference level( Barnet last week) and knows him as he is in Cambs FA.i told him to pass a few messages on from me after that,I don't think he passed them on but thought Deadman being from Peterborough should not have been allowed.
DB11 Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 I've never been optimistic when Darren Deadman has refereed
