UpTheLeagueFox Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Geoff has interviewed Billy Davies, this man knows his interviewing shit. I don't know if that's a compliment or if you missed out the word 'is' between "interviewing" and "shit"
shade Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 it always used to annoy me when stringer would ask every. single. week. about transfer rumours, once someone has told you once that they won't comment on speculation, it's imbecilic (and disrespectful) to keep asking. accept it and move on, aka do your job optimally.
Babylon Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 it always used to annoy me when stringer would ask every. single. week. about transfer rumours, once someone has told you once that they won't comment on speculation, it's imbecilic (and disrespectful) to keep asking. accept it and move on, aka do your job optimally. The problem is "he's asking the questions the fans want answers to" and a lot of our fans (especially those who actually interact with Stringer) are also imbecilic and disrespectful.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 There are ways and means of doing interviews, asking the relevant questions, and getting answers. You don't have to go in hard like Paxman on a politician. Football is a completely different beast to politics. I'm not "friends" with any footballer but I have good relationships with a fair few. They tell me stuff that either won't go any further or won't be attributed to them. I'm not even close to being friends with Pearson, and never ever will be, but I've built up a slither of goodwill by not being an arse with him, asking fair questions etc. So when the time came to ask him about his future (and even though I was slightly clumsy with the wording), he knows I have no agenda, just doing my job fairly - and he subsequently gave a long, detailed, reasonable answer. Obviously I don't have to press him on issues every week which makes my job easier.
NextPlease Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 So which is more offensive - a cut throat gesture - a verbal instruction to "go away" and die Really don't think NP (or players) can take the moral high ground here
Unabomber Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 So which is more offensive - a cut throat gesture - a verbal instruction to "go away" and die Really don't think NP (or players) can take the moral high ground here Cut throat gesture, deffo.Next please.
Unabomber Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Love you Geoff, great poster I appreciate the input.
The Doctor Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 So which is more offensive - a cut throat gesture - a verbal instruction to "go away" and die Really don't think NP (or players) can take the moral high ground here Given the context - cut throat gesture. **** off and die came from sustained abuse and was a taste of the guys own medicine, cut throat was just pathetic and painfully unprofessional. He shouldn't really have said it, but how can the players not take the moral high ground? Nige said it, not them.
Unabomber Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Also the fact that Strings did the cut throat gesture at Was while hiding behind Jason Bourne SIA
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Love you Geoff, great poster I appreciate the input. Just doing my job, answering the difficult questions fans demand answers to etc
The Blue Moon Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Now that we're in the Prem and there's loads of free feeds, most of the armchair fans just watch it on the Internet anyway. So I reckon Radio Leicester listenership must be down massively.
Albert Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Stringers comment after the QPR game when he was 5 foot away from Pearson and "didn't care if the manager hears me or not" when answering questions from Bourne in the studio didn't go unnoticed either and it was only a matter of time before there was a big fall out. The cut throat gesture and his Twitter antics on trying to get the video of the Liverpool fan bust up was the final straw
pazzerfox Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 The players don't like Ian and the 'gesture' post Liverpool led to them collectively deciding not to speak to Radio Leicester at all, out of support for the manager. (Their decision, not Pearson's.) Pearson got fed up with Ian, which had been a long time coming, and decided he wouldn't tolerate him any more. He will still speak to RL, just not Ian. However, RL have decided not to take up the offer and are using MOTD or 5Live interviews with Pearson instead. Cheers for the info Geoff...much appreciated.
Raj Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 I actually think Geoff should have his own thread. Seems like an approachable Geezer and all round good un. On a side note i think he should always try and indirectly mention his beloved Lestah whenever he interviews folk and see how long he can get away with it before being hauled to the ivory towers and the powers that be(whoever they are at Talksport!!!!)
MPH Posted 30 December 2014 Posted 30 December 2014 they would argue its not fair for any of the sports teams within the City to dictate who can and can't work for the BBC Oh no mate its not the sports teams, its us. The fans. The tax payers who pay their wages that are being inconvenienced by the silly feud tit for tat crap...
Dan Posted 30 December 2014 Posted 30 December 2014 The only disappointing thing about this thread is that it probably means there's no more Geoff Peters on the phone in. The rest is comedy gold. Stringer is such an arsehole it's unreal.
BigMicky Posted 30 December 2014 Posted 30 December 2014 I like Geoffrey Who doesn't! He comes 2nd on my foxestalk favourites though. No one can touch toffee fox, I miss him.

Stringer needs to learn the difference between football journalism and real journalism - he pushes and pushes the limit everytime with Pearson especially in the last 3 months or so. Not in the least bit surprised he did a cut-throat gesture as he thrives on trying to make news when their is no news
