Why no Pearson interview on radio Leicester

Whilst not picking sides on this exactly, BBC radio Leicester will do well to remember that their wages come from the taxpayers pocket and they don't need to be denying us an interview just because they themselves want to pick sides.

If i wanted to see the same interview over and over again i would read 20 websites or buy 10 newspapers.

they would argue its not fair for any of the sports teams within the City to dictate who can and can't work for the BBC

Doing the job properly is building up an effective working relationship with managers/players/club that when the difficult questions need asking, they're not considered to be part of an agenda.

The cut throat gesture.

when did he do this?, in what context, genuinely hadn't heard it

What's this gesture thing all about?

Are you Stringer's Uncle Geoff?

What agenda though?

I could certainly see now that Pearson and the players wont talk to him, that it would be in Stringers interest for Pearson to be gone, but up until the Liverpool game they were all talking to him, be it that Pearson clearly got the arse at certain questions being asked of him.

Certainly up until that Liverpool game i can see no reason for Stringer to have an agenda, and i  felt he was just asking questions, all be it not very diplomatically, that he should be asking.

As for the cut throat gesture, well if that is true and had reliable witness`s, who didn`t have their own agenda of course, then i`m surprised that he is still in a job at the BBC.

As i pointed out in reference to the Chelsea players alleged racist accusations against Mark Clattenburg, sometimes people can see and hear what they want too, for their own reasons.

Not saying that`s what`s happened here, but unless the BBC are currently carrying out an internal investigation that we don`t know about, in which case i would think Stringer would have been suspended, then i can only imagine that any evidence of this "gesture" is somewhat flimsy.

So, for clarity, after Liverpool, Stringer did a cut throat gesture at Pearson?

Yeah, this is still news to me.

If this is the case, where has this come from?

If that's true, there should have been a complaint to the BBC who must be aware of it if they are aware he and the players aren't speaking just to Stringer? To be honest, if that was public knowledge, Stringer would have to quit or grovel excessively. He makes Radio Leicester completely unlistenable and - if it's possible - even more obsolete in a very digital age.

Pearson is under to contractual obligation to give any interviews, whether it be to BBC Radio Leicester, 5live, BBC Match of the Day, Local Journalists, Sky etc...

The only difference between BBC Radio Leicester and the rest is Stringer and to an extent Bourne.

Those who argue 'It is Stringer's job to ask tough questions' must also realise that Nige as every right to respond to the questions in his own way, including ignoring the question or putting a stop to interviews altogether.

The fact that the players support Pearson, tells you everything you need to know. In fact, maybe those questioning Pearson should instead question the management at BBC Radio Leicester. As it is their staff (stringer and bourne) who are the reason Pearson is not being interviewed.

It's Stringer's job to ask the questions and it's nige's right to ignore them.

I wonder who's side people would be taking if he was interviewing Taylor or Holloway? I wonder if people would appreciate him congratulating the manager after a 5-0 thrashing?

I find Stringer an annoying twat but I agree with the BBC not being dictated to as to who they employ.

Stringer has had agendas from day one, I've been saying it for bloody years about the bloke. Unfortunately Radio Leicester have sacrificed any effort of proper journalism for a tabloid hack take on everything. Headlines, soundbites, caller numbers is all they are interested in and the content is tailored only towards that.

Pearson isn't contractually obliged to speak to Radio Leicester. It is an option to him.

Like Geoff, who has more knowledge than any of us, said it is up to Stringer to build a relationship with the manager or any of the staff at the club in order to be able to ask these questions without the sense of any hidden agenda.

I honestly don't think Stringer ever got over the fall out they had last time and undoubtedly tried to build a wave of criticism from listeners way before it was due (I.e "is that it for Nigel after the second goal at Southampton)

I've stuck up for Stringer a lot in the past (despite speaking to people who've worked with him telling me what a complete twat he is) but I just think his inexperience has been massively shown up in the last few years

The beeb need to look at what's gone on... and consider how they can take things forward. Stronger is now the story... he'll have to go.

Meanwhile... why do they run a two or three minutes highlights package and keep plugging the rugby on dab when all we want is callers on the poster match phone in. It is a phone in...

Elliot needs to be more outspoken... and get debates going.... not balanced and measured.

Bourn is like a paperboy who's found a mike

Worse still, listening to his commentary, only rarely do I know where the ball is on the pitch or how moves have developed.

Of course they should not be dictated to as to who they employ.

But...their employee is failing to carry out his role. Part of Stringer's job is to interview the Leicester city manager, the players and find out inside info before the rest e.g. sky etc.

He isn't doing any of the above, so therefore it makes no sense to keep him as an employee.

The cut throat gesture was to a player after the Liverpool game who considered this to be disrespectful to the manager. The players, who didn't hold IS in much regard anyway, collectively decided not to speak to RL to highlight their support for Pearson. Pearson mentioned in the next pre match press conference that the players alone had themselves taken this course of action. I'm led to believe IS doesn't dispute the cut throat gesture but claims it wasn't intended how the player viewed it. I also understand Pearson was quite annoyed by RL's public insistence that he wouldn't speak to them, when he would - just not to one person. RL take the view that they won't be dictated to in terms of who does the interviews. While I accept that up to a point, they could win back some goodwill by getting JB to ask the questions. There are ways and means of asking difficult questions - plenty in the media/press do it the right way and they get proper answers. And I repeat my point about building relationships with managers/players/club which helps when things get tough.

Stringer many times as come across as very unprofessional while being on the radio station, but some how he's kept his job. At times he as crossed over the line and making out that he asks questions that the fans want to hear is utter nonsense. I mean asking the manager if he things he's going to be sacked.
