lavrentis Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Anyone gonna try and go without alcohol for the entire month of January?
Voll Blau Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 If I wanted to have a month of the booze I doubt I'd feel the need to announce it to anyone.
AoWW Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 If I wanted to have a month of the booze I doubt I'd feel the need to announce it to anyone.
Voll Blau Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 :xmaslaugh: Dreadful from myself there. If that were the case I don't think I'd be in a position to announce anything.
Voll Blau Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Do the people that do this stop at dead-on midnight on January 1? Or do they just leave it till the morning after then bombard the rest of us with constant reminders of what paragons of temperance they are for the next 31 fvcking days.
SystonFox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Lavrentis having a month off the booze. As if mate
Corky Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Yeah, think I'll try. Had my one drink of the year at Christmas.
The Doctor Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Nah - not exactly healthy, gonna stick with drinking a small amount regularly.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I'm gonna take a month off the drink, not for charity or any such rubbish, because ive had most of this month off and simply of myself go thanks to too much booze and unhealthy food. Time to get back in shape.
DB11 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Nope, it's stupid and pointless. And when people then try and get sponsored for it If you want it to actually be hard and an achievement why not try December or a summer month? Not one of the most 'depressing' months when people have little money due to overspending the month before. Oh, and my birthday's in January so **** ever not drinking
MooseBreath Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I'll probably have a few beers at some point but January and February are both quiet months and it wouldn't take any effort at all to not drink. Bit like saying I'm going to have a cheeseburger free January really.
ScouseFox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 nah gotta say new year's eve/day then i've got about 6 birthdays and quite often go away in january. a lot of drinking will be happening. i'm out.
StanSP Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Do the people that do this stop at dead-on midnight on January 1? Or do they just leave it till the morning after then bombard the rest of us with constant reminders of what paragons of temperance they are for the next 31 fvcking days. I thought this too. Surely it gets broken if they have a glass of bubbly dead on midnight
Captain... Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 If anyone is doing it, good luck it isn't always easy the best way is to tell everyone you are going to do it then when they say you'll never do it it will make you more determined to prove them wrong, just don't ask anyone for sponsorship if you want to be sponsored for not drinking Go to an AA meeting. Who was the tit on here who asked for sponsorship and got a load of stick, and then only lasted 2 weeks?
Nalis Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 I successfully did it last January. Didn't ask for money or anything, I just donated money to charity myself as it was more to see if I could do it or not. Probably won't bother doing it this January.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 Tbh I didn't realise it was a charity thing, (although i'm not surprised). I'm purely doing it for myself as I'm skint, in poorer shape and have no birthdays/events this month. The testing times will be the city games but other than that it should be easy.
Strokes Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 I regularly go for more than a month without alcohol, but its never planned. I bet I've drank more in december than the whole of 2014.
