Could James Bond be played by a black man?

Only enjoyed the Daniel Craig movies, the others are some of the worst movies ive ever watched.

Didn't really like the Pierce Brosnan films. The Connery and Moore films were great and the Timothy Dalton films weren't that bad on reflection. Daniel Craig is great but they're not really Bond films anymore. They're are action films with a British accent.

Lets put it this way, should a high profile film version of Othello come out next year and a white actor was cast as Othello. You'd most probably have Lenny Henry spitting feathers on the nightly news about good black actors being over looked. If there is no suitable white actor available (something I can't imagine is the case) then I'd have no problem with it, other than my opinion that Elba is a wooden as a horse.

Some minor plausibility issues, but apart from that why not? It's not as if the bond franchise has ever taken plausibility particularly seriously anyway.

If the best actor for the part was black then no problem but he shouldn't be black just for the sake of revolution this isn't America, the most suitable candidate should get the job wherever he is black or white. For me it needs to be someone younger like Tom Hardy

I think virtually everyone would imagine Bond as white so that would have to be the standard choice. I don't have a problem with it though - can see him being a pretty good Bond myself.

I was trying to state the plausibility of an upper class black spy was unlikely partly due to reasons already stated. I just didn't think it would be very realistic.

Don't see why a black person couldn't be. It's not like the films have stuck that close to the books. I can't imagine Fleming would have written about Bond requesting a heineken for starters...
