Anyone know if I need a visa or anything special to go to vancouver? Thanks

I don’t think you do mate, they grill out at the desk when you land and stamp your passport. Or they did 5 years ago.

Returned from Vegas just over 2 weeks ago and still having deep holiday blues.

What an amazing place. Stayed at the Strat for 4 nights and moved on to the Venetian for the remaining 3. Loved every second and will definitely go back in the future.

Now I'm looking to book a summer holiday, we are debating an all inclusive as we have never been. I'm not a stay by the pool all day type of person and like to get out and about, is an all inclusive worth it? Any recommendations?

It’s worth it if you do your research and book a resort with decent food and drink otherwise you will end up eating out a bit anyway. Where abouts are you thinking?

I've not got my eyes set on any specific location. I've had a brief look at Turkey (Atylanyal) and Spain, so far.

If you like to get out and about I’d avoid all inclusive as you’re tied into eating at the same hotel, I think all inclusives are for people who like to sit by the pool all day and drink and get their moneys worth, I prefer going out  exploring and finding different places to eat.

Yeah turns out I was wrong. Who knew that listening to visa advice from someone that went to check in to a flight to New York with no visa was a bad idea.

Guessing you are flying straight to Canada, but just in case you are flying via USA, be aware that you will need an ESTA, even if just in transit.

I have my eta thing for Canada sorted. Anyone been Vancouver before and can recommend any good restaurants or bars?

I'm jealous you're going mate, absolutely fantastic place and one of the best cities I've ever been to.

Couldn't recommend this place more https://granvilleisland.com/. Loads of really cool little food stalls selling all kinds of stuff and it's all independent. Some cool shops down there and it's all on the water too. Easy to get over there on the bus or cab it.

Stanley park is well worth an adventure through, loads of animals and interesting wildlife there.

Went to this place that does "local" (which by our standards is pretty spread out) foraged and sustainably sourced food which is really good and pretty central.

I didn't go to too many bars and stuff but have made a couple recommendations for stuff to do.

If you hire a bike out or use the local bike share you can bike all the way around the peninsular which is a really nice ride and a good way of getting your bearings a bit. I actually had my sister's bike while I was out there so I don't know much about the bike share but it's called Mobi.

Depending on how much time you've got, if you head over to North Vancouver and go to Capilano Suspension bridge which is very popular. I actually got the ferry from Canada Place and went to Lynn Canyon Park which has another very similar suspension bridge in the park which is a bit quieter and free. Either way there's some really nice scenic walking. https://www.capbridge.com/ https://lynncanyon.ca/

The art museum is also pretty cool if you're into that sort of stuff.

Enjoy yourself!

How long are you there for? I only flew into Vancouver so can’t give any tips on that but I would recommend heading up to Whistler for a day.

I’ve spent the last week dreaming of moving over there, very jealous.

Agadir in June for a week. Looking forward to it, I’ve been to Tangier and Casablanca before, I absolutely love Morocco.

I’ve heard it’s a lot more commercial than the places I’ve been before but I think we’re going to take a trip inland to Marrakesh as well to have a wander round the Kasbah etc. Just a bit nervous about the fog, could have a week with hardly any sun :dunno:

Am going Edinburgh for a week in August for the Fringe and currently have flights booked to Athens for September with the intention of island hopping the Cyclades for probably around 3 weeks. However I'm not good on boats so that could be fun.

Also hoping to get the Balkans tour in that didn't happen last year in the end but no idea when I'll fit it in or fund it.

I like Milos and its two little neighbours very much.

Do the Balkans tour.
