Has Anyone Booked a Holiday Yet?

Off to gran canaria for a bit of sun in a couple of weeks. Haven't been to the canaries in years - any recommendations from people who have been to this island?

Anybody been to Nuremberg and have any tips?

Went last year around May time, was very hot until the last day when it clouded over. I would definitely recommend the Moonlight Cinema in Maspolomas as a good evening out. I would book in advance as it has limited seats, probably about 50. Bus there cost about 2 euros.

I mentioned it in the 'Ashtons Journey' thread. I am thinking of travelling to Perth Australia for a conference dedicated to people with my sons condition. Just wondered if there was anyone here who had been to Perth and what they would recommend doing whilst I am there.

The conference is from 10th May until 12th May so I was thinking of getting there around 8th and staying maybe a week or 10 days. Its too expensive to go with the whole family so i'm looking at going it alone.

Luckily I have an old school friend who lives in Perth (30 mins away from the venue funnily enough) so he can put me up whilst I am there.

Ive always wanted to Scuba dive the great barrier reef. Now this isn't going to happen with me being on the opposite side to it :( but im sure there are other Scuba diving spots I could do in Perth.

Any advice would be appreciated

I rarely post here but read this and thought I'd chip in. We flew to Perth last April for a three week jolly with the kids, originally to have a look at possible relocation but things changed between booking and flights, so it became a holiday only.

We also flew direct from Heathrow, worth it if you can.

Ten days in the region is long enough to get in all the sights & depending on your budget I would recommend getting a car. Everywhere is literally half a hour away.

We did a lot of things that were family friendly and as a solo traveller may not float your boat, we spent three days in the same water park for example.

Rottnest Island is something you should really look into, the place is absolutely beautiful and a nice ride around,  I saw some scuba divers there, so could be worth checking out.

Freemantle is a good day out too, it's got a cool af market & plenty of places to eat & drink, some with ocean views. There's a speed boat in freeo that takes you out into the shark infested water and chucks you around for a bit if that's what you into. Actually you could probably get two days out of freemantle with the museum's as well.

If you looking for a bit of wildlife check out caversham wildlife park instead of the city zoo. It's cheaper and much larger.

The city in my opinion, bar kings park, is the same as any city in the world. We did a tour bus trip that takes you round the city and through kings park, where you get off and pick it up later on. This I would recommend. The park is immense.

Do you like wine & chocolate ? There's plenty of wine farm tours that will keep you happy and again depending on you budget you could go up river.

The thing that struck me about Perth is the beaches. North and South of the city the beaches are another level. There's a foot/bike path that goes north of the city up to burns beach. If your able to get a bike that would be a fantastic ride.

Has anyone ever flown BA premium economy and is it worth the upgrade?

I fly long haul on BA a couple of times a year and I'd always book Premium Economy if it's no more than £250 or so more than economy.

I'm tall so the extra leg room really is worth it. Especially if you're flying a 787 where the economy seat is dreadful. Get a decent chunk more Air miles too if that's your bag (I often use miles to upgrade to business).

Excellent thanks so much for your post. This gives me a lot of things to think about. My cousin is coming with me and is into his sharks so he would certainly be up for going to shark infested waters/cage diving.

We were worried about getting bored, so hiring a car may be something to think about. We will weigh up all the things we want to do and plan the trips to see if its feasible to hire a car, which from the sounds of it is going to be a must.

Baring in mind though I will be spending 3 days/2 nights at the conference I will only have 7 days for sightseeing. The first 2 of those days will be jet lagged also so may even only have 5/6 days sightseeing. All variables I need to think about. Your post gives e a good start so thanks again

Absolutely not. I detest BA, such arrogant staff and a steadily declining service. Emirates/Qatar/Singapore economy class is better than BA premium in my opinion

Fine if you're travelling east.

Agree BA has gone downhill, but you still get decent crews most of the time in my experience. And if you have to fly BA, the upgrade is worth it if you can get a good deal.

Get way more legroom in the new premium economy cabin than any economy product, even if you think the soft product isn't comparable.

The obvious Nuremburg trials and the source of National-socialism buildings-museums..if You want to learn about the birth of  the"Nazis"

The whole history is here...

The "Felsengaenge".  The folk tunnelled into the bedrock...creating underground passageways..joined cellars Many small breweries used them

..On Sundays there are tours in English Finishing with (redbeer  ale) Franconian Rotbier..tasting session..

Nuremburg( Nuernberger Wurst) Sausages..

A German local and restaurant in a cellar..."Raubritter". Decent German-faire !!

Well the wife has talked me into going back to Ibiza. So I guess anything further afield will have to wait.

To be fair £1500 quid for 4 all inc for 10 nights is a bargain compared to what we normally pay. Only downside is it's October so weather won't be as warm. But as the hotel has 6 bars I'm sure I can keep warm lol

Already looking forward to the annual trips to Ibiza town and San an.

I found BA premium.economy an economy plus experience compared to Virgin, which I found a business class lite (which is kinda what you want from premium economy)

( on anither ba note, once upon a time I was a complete diva - asked for champers in BA premium economy. They said they hadn't got any. I accused them.of lying as business was awash with it and that I didn't ask for FREE champers, just that I wanted fackin champers. It didn't wash)

In the past, I've booked premium economy with BA and used avios to upgrade to business  for an extra £100 tax or so (club world, or whatever they call it)

The lounges at T5 Heathrow are excellent....though I chose not to abuse t he free nosh and booze as I wanted to enjoy the flight experience!
