Captain... Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Saw on the highlights a few quick short corners, seemed to be Knocky with Albrighton and Lawrence, did they only do the two on the highlights? what was the success rate of them? A better option than whipping the ball in? I do like short corners it either drags 2 people out the box, or gives you a 2 on 1 and chance to change the angle of delivery. Varying it up is important and keeping them guessing will hopefully yield more success from corners.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Short Corners are terrible, but given we've scored one in about 300 whipping the ball in we may as well try something different.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Looks clever when it gets a shot on target away, but when it goes wrong you look like a right twat. Lawrence whipped some good ball in today so hopefully one can land on Ulloa's head.

Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Looked opportunist on the highlights, very quickly taken while Newcastle weren't switched on.
benpicko Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 They looked more threatening than our normal corners do but then again Knockaert's corners in the highlights all looked more threatening than our normal corners
5waller5 Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 They took at least 3-4 corners short today ..... Given our inability to attack a straight ball in I think they're a good option. The Geordies took a few too.
Bamba's Babes Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 The traditional corner has been useless for us for a long time, years even. Nothing can be worse than what we are currently doing. Today's short corners were fruitful.
FireFox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Is this the first time we took short corners all season?! I've been waiting/screaming for us to all season. Have we scored off a normal corner/set piece all season? I can't recall any.

Fox92 Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Might as well change it a bit given our corner success. James took a good one at Anfield which Nugent flicked on and it only needed a touch at the far post but typical us nobody was attacking that area.
Stadt Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Morgan hit the bar from a normal corner, but both us and Newcastle had less men in the box than usual
broughtonblue Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Short or normal corners, the standard of delivery has certainly gone up the last few games, hopefully the days of not beating the first man have become a thing of the past
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 We actually looked threatening from the set piece both short and normal deliveries which is bizarre.
AyewJoking Posted 6 January 2015 Posted 6 January 2015 Looks clever when it gets a shot on target away, but when it goes wrong you look like a right twat. Lawrence whipped some good ball in today so hopefully one can land on Ulloa's head. yep stick to direct corners then we wont look like twats
dayday Posted 6 January 2015 Posted 6 January 2015 Our goal on Saturday came from a short corner, unless I am mistaken
Katy Posted 6 January 2015 Posted 6 January 2015 Our goal on Saturday came from a short corner, unless I am mistaken It did! I was in the middle of moaning about how much I hate us doing short corners and we went and scored! 9 times out of 10 they come to nothing but then our 'normal' corners aren't all that either.

You might say that 10 times out of 10 our normal corners come to nothing.
Corky Posted 6 January 2015 Posted 6 January 2015 You might say that 10 times out of 10 our normal corners come to nothing. What!? Peter Beagrie said we are strong from set pieces
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 6 January 2015 Posted 6 January 2015 Looks clever when it gets a shot on target away, but when it goes wrong you look like a right twat. Lawrence whipped some good ball in today so hopefully one can land on Ulloa's head. Lawrence put one in that was brilliant - low, quick and barely strayed from the line. The kind that could easily bounce off anyone and straight into the net, I reckon we should go for that approach more often
Katy Posted 6 January 2015 Posted 6 January 2015 You might say that 10 times out of 10 our normal corners come to nothing. That's some good Math, Alex. Your Man U ticket has arrived btw.

I'd rather score 1 in 10 short corners than 1 in 200 normal corners. But to be fair, both looked dangerous against Newcastle - even Knocky's were good for a change. Between Lawrence, Albrighton and a (hopefully) in-form Knockeart, we'll have to see if our chance creation improves when they get a run in the team over the next few games!
