Guest MattP Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 This could be a very nice to lose, lots of grass on the pitch. I didn't think it would that good You have to wonder what Cook was thinkign really, we set up that pitch for our bowlers, no idea why anyone would want to bat first on that.
Grandad. Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 bloody hell where have you been grandad? Thought u had disappeared I did, now I'm back. Brilliant bowling, now we really need to dig in. Hoping for a long Cook innings!
Frost Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 The banter with Johnson is amusing. Atmosphere is great.
Guest MattP Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 Feel for Cook, when it's not going for you that's what happened. The innings so far has been sensational though, we've done everything the Aussies didn't and been ruthless to any loose balls.
Finnegan Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 could England and Australia be the two most inconsistent teams currently in world sport? Mad.
Captain... Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 Looking forward to about midday tomorrow the ball getting old England with a healthy lead and Bairstow, Buttler, Stokes, Ali with license to go out and be attacking. A good showing for Bairstow and another failure for Buttler anyone think his place might be under threat?
Guest MattP Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 Looking forward to about midday tomorrow the ball getting old England with a healthy lead and Bairstow, Buttler, Stokes, Ali with license to go out and be attacking. A good showing for Bairstow and another failure for Buttler anyone think his place might be under threat? Possible, although one of the selectors it's claimed has said Bairstow is now being treated solely as a batsman as his keeping isn't upto it. I think Buttler will get the series at least but if he totally fails I don't think they would hesistate to blood Sam Billings. could England and Australia be the two most inconsistent teams currently in world sport? Mad. To be fair there is no sport where conditions can effect teams as much as cricket, why we were preparing flat wickets when we have no spinner was bizarre, we have the greatest opening bowler in the World and we decided to negate him through fear of the opposition, it was bonkers.
purpleronnie Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 Just got in, we always do well when I'm not watching. I'll wait for the highlights.
Guest MattP Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 To be fair there is no sport where conditions can effect teams as much as cricket, Tennis maybe with court surface. (Is it weird to reply to your own post?) Just got in, we always do well when I'm not watching. I'll wait for the highlights. This post reminded me of Ken for some reason.
Matt Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 Come on England! And come on Bell, need him to keep plugging away as I bet on him to be top England batsman in the 1st innings.
Swarles Barkley Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 Who played the worst shot? Lyth or Bell? lyth by far. playing at a wide ball when your not in nick and the ball is seaming is just madness. bell was set and was attacking a spinner. put too much into the shot and got caught. stupidity to play such a expansive shot at the time but nowhere near as bad as lyth
Guest MattP Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 Who played the worst shot? Lyth or Bell? Lyth, because it appears he is incapable of learning. Bell's was daft but given the rate he was scoring at and the pressure he was putting on the bowlers I sort of understand it, he will regret it though.
leicsmac Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 Bit of madness from Bell and Lyth, but after losing the toss if you'd offered to only be trailing by three at the end of the day with seven wickets still standing I'd have torn your hand off. Good day.
BoyJones Posted 29 July 2015 Posted 29 July 2015 Lyth is clearly not test standard at the moment and seems unable to learn. He has too many loose shots in his repertoire to be a test opener. Heavens knows what Boycott thinks of him. With rain and close imminent, slightly strange shot from Bell but he was trying to take the game to Australia which you have to give him credit for. Just a pity with a couple of over left he didn't play for the close. Still would have snapped your hand off to be equal runs with seven wickets left at end of day one. Hopefully we can get a minimum 300+ to put the Aussies under pressure.
