cullenfox Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 This will be a tight match but I can see us nicking the three points. Got to be positive. I'll say 2-1.
Tielemans63 Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 Them getting walloped at home by QPR is doubly bad for us. Firstly they've given our rivals 3 easy points and secondly, if they've got anything about them they'll be desperate to right the wrongs when we turn up. Why couldn't they have held on another week to give a truly shite performance?
Jam Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 I hope so as I don't fancy leaving Birmingham again with Kebabs and cans being lobbed at the coach with me contemplating swinging from the rafters when I got back.
Fox92 Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 Regardless of their poor result this weekend, it will still be a tough game. Even though QPR scored four (and how good was Zamora's goal!?), WBA still had a load of chances on MOTD and should/could have scored more than just one.
daddylonglegs Posted 5 April 2015 Posted 5 April 2015 results today have ****ed us to be honest. pearson (and maths) says its in our own hands but in terms of confidence, it's largely in others hands. A win in a tyne wear derby is gonna do wonders for Sunderland and Burnley picking up another point against a top half side is only going to be positive for them. the players are professional and can only affect what we do, but it must just kill their confidence a little bit to see teams around us shoot us down a bit.
foxfan92 Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Sunderland winning today was a bit annoying - however I still think Hull will be the team that gets dragged into the tighter relegation battle at the end of the season and the most likely to go down if one of the 3 in the relegation zone now manage to escape. I'd love us to keep an attacking formation away from home against teams like WBA that we could realistically win. (... although the pessimists on here might point out the fact we've not been winning many of the "could/ should win" games this season). Anyway here's the team I'd like to see start Kasper RDL Was Huth Konch Cambiasso James Albrighton Nugent Vardy Kramaric Subs - Hamer, Wes, Schlupp, King, Drinkwater, Ulloa, Mahrez However I wouldn't mind if Nigel wants to play King instead of Nugent
Dan Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 That QPR result is a nightmare, but it should give our team belief that these are to be got at. I can see us dominating and losing.
Donut Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 The problem with the notion of us being 6 points away from safety, is that there are a lot of teams involved in the scrap. Its not so much the points, as the number of teams involved. So effectively, we also need Burnley and QPR to have terrible form, AND the teams outside the relegation zone to be sucked back in towards us. Its not realistic that EVERYONE is all going to trip up and let us out. And thats only if we go on some sort of meteoric rise in form. If it was a straight fight, us vs another team, one on one and it was up to us to catch them and them to faulter, i could see us doing it. But we need to: 1) Have a massive upturn in form to score enough points to survive 2) Hope one the teams outside the relegation zone has a huge dip to let us back in 3) If their dip only lets one team back in, we need to score more points than QPR or Burnley or they will cash in on the dip and not us, or hope two teams above the drop zone dip so bad one of those AND us can stay up. 4) Every game where two relegation threatened teams meet somehow ends up in a draw or the result we need at that time 5) All the teams with nothing to play for give our rivals a proper game.
Dan Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 All starts on Tuesday as well. What a horrible fixture that is. I find myself wanting a Villa win for christ sake. I think Hull, Burnley & QPR are the ones to catch. Sunderland could've imploded if they'd lost to Newcastle but this'll no doubt go and kickstart a mini revival for them and the cycle goes on. I really do detest this honeymoon period culture and how irritatingly successful it is. It's one of the main reasons I'd like to see Burnley stay up at the expense of others although I appreciate both Leicester & Burnley staying up from here would be nothing short of a miracle so maybe they can **** off after all.
Matt Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 I'll keep saying it, all I ask is that we give it a go, win some of our remaining matches (preferably all, unlikely as it is) but that is all we can effect, **** the other teams results we can't do anything about them, the unfortunate fact is we've left it so late to decide to give it a go we'll probably be reying on other teams results but if we do our bit that's all we can ask for. We got ourselves into this unfortunate mess, we can't expect other teams to get us out of it.
harpendenfox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 We simply have to have the mindset of ignoring everyone else and finding our way to 36 points in which case we are likely to be safe. That means winning 5 games in all likelihood. We can only win one at a time, so effectively the only game that matters now is West Brom. We have to simply believe we can win, and then go and do it

We got ourselves into this unfortunate mess, we can't expect other teams to get us out of it. We stand a good a chance as anyone else because the fixture list is in our favor. We messed up against Hull in the way we hoofed it up the pitch, but with 4 at the back and a very fearful presence on the counter I have faith Pearson has finally found a way to win games in the Premiership. Albeit we have to have twice as many chances as our opposition to actually score a goal but I think if we put Kramaric in the mix he showed against West Ham how effective he can be. Behind Cambiasso I'd give Kramaric MOTM for the impact he had coming off the bench in just a few minutes and he was very unlucky not to score that shot that got cleared off the line. One thing I do fear is keeping Schlupp at left back and other teams seeing that as the wing to attack. Konchesky would struggle with the legs you need to play that system. I think Pearson could come to regret not doing the obvious and signing a left back in the summer. That position has already cost us a few points this season and with Schlupp playing there it could cost us more. But keep the faith, we deserve all the luck we can get and hopefully this time next season we are sitting comfortably in the middle of the Premiership already thinking about who we are going to sign to improve for the following season. That being said, if we do go down... I think because we have the backing, the know how and the support, we would be one of a few to bounce straight back up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
CKB Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 It's typical though, we win & WBA get smashed by QPR.. Pulis won't let that happen again
Strokes Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Tough game, I'd take a draw as I think enough games elsewhere are winnable.
Bristol fox .... Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 As it stands we need a 2 game swing with villa and hull on 28pts so i would go for a qpr win against villa then that would put 3 teams on 28pts With 2 games in hand
shailen Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Genuinely think we can win this one. When they were here, I didn't think they were that good, but we probably played our worst game of the season. We play like we have been recently, except the Hull game, and we should win this. Same team for me apart from Albrighton for Mahrez. I wouldn't play Kramaric unless we put him wide on one side and play Vardy through the middle. But Vardys finishing at times is awful, and he looks a much better player out wide
Sunbury Fox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 First goal crucial here. We get it and their crowd will be right on their backs after the QPR result. They get it and they'll grind out a narrow win in true Pulis style. We must start on the front foot and play at a high tempo. They've got a lot of big, slow defenders so I think our best forward line would be Vardy, Nuge and Albrighton behind Kram.
ScouseFox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 burnley play arsenal, qpr play chelsea, villa go to spurs & hull go to southampton. if we get a point i'd imagine it'll be a point more than those 4, hence a good point imo. three would be dreamland.
AKCJ Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 If we win we'll go on to finish in the europa league spots no doubt.

ScouseFox Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 Sunderland?? home vs palace, could potentially get something from that if they've gained a lot of confidence from their win yesterday. we've only gotta catch 3 teams tho not 5 and i'm not arsed who we catch as long as we do. burnley, qpr & hull are, on paper, the easiest to catch imo so if those 3 all lose anything we pick up is gaining ground.

Yep, true... Villa not out of that equation either...

v6rat Posted 6 April 2015 Posted 6 April 2015 There couldn't be a worse time to play West Brom. Stuffed 4 - 1 at home by QPR, followed by another home game against us. Pullis and the fans will expect WB to put in a performance. Our defence will need to be a lot better than it has been of late to get 3 points.
