Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 He can't possibly start and finish 3 games in a week, surely? Not if he's going to remain as effective as he has been in recent weeks. Considering he seems to be able to cope with 90 minutes a week reasonably well the obvious call would be start against Burnley and Newcastle, rest against Chelsea. Is that the best way to use him, can he start all 3, have an impact but come off after an hour when he's helped the team? Maybe bring him off the bench in 2 of the 3 and start him in 1? It'll be interesting to see how he's used in this mini run. And if you do rest him and we go with a 2, what's the best alternative? King and James, James and Drinky, Drinky and King? Do we bring Hammond in? Interested what we all think.
elangLCFC Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 60 minutes v Burnley, if we're doing well take him off, if we still need him keep him on. Should he play 90 at Burnley then rest him against Chelsea, if not then give him another 60, then the full 90 v Newcastle
Foxymcoxy Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 He should play as much of the Burnley game as he can, then the staff will assess him. If he is totally match-fit then he should play as much of the Chelsea game as he can, etc etc for the rest of the season. No point guessing how many minutes he can handle they have a whole team and a lot of equipment and science to work that out.
Webbo Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Put him on the bench for Chelsea and only bring him on if we have a chance of a result. I'd probably play Hammond against chelsea, Mahrez always raises his game for the big clubs and Kramaric has a point to prove so I'd give them both a game as well.

I was thinking maybe play Hammond against Chelsea, but do we want to bring someone in in such a big game who hasn't played for so long? It's a big risk imo. From what I've seen King and Drinkwater don't seem to work very well together. I'd be tempted with James/Drinky against Chelsea.
tom27111 Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Got to play the 90 against Burnley, his experience and calmness if we're hanging on for something at the end is vital. Probably the same against Newcastle. Leave him on the bench against Chelsea. If we are clinging on to something in the last 20 minutes, get him on.
sylofox Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Play him in them all he won't be training all week I doubt any of them will do much training. It's only 1 extra game FFS. How did football ever get this far with smaller squads more games a season playing on muddy fields and all the players going out on the piss after a game. Oh and eating fish chips and burgers and 34 was not seen as old.

Oh and eating fish chips and burgers and 34 was not seen as old. Because everyone in the game was playing with smaller squads playing on muddy fields and all players were going out on the piss after the game, it was a level playing field. Unfortuantley Newcastles midfield wont consist of bold Argentines well on their way to their 35th birthday playing their third game in 7 days. The younger players I can understand resting them is ridiculous.
Fox92 Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Depends how Saturday goes. Remember, Burnley like to close us down and get in our faces. The game might be fast paced.
The Guvnor Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 F^cking hell he is 34 not 54, play him in all of the remaining games.
Ollie93 Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Even if we lose against Burnley I'd still rest him against Chelsea. Make sure he runs that midfield against Newcastle, we never expect to get anything at Chelsea anyway.

LCCFox96 Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 It's bound to be results dependant with Cambiasso. Play well at Burnley and lead the game 2-0 with 30 to go and he could be rested. Play poorly and he'll be needed. The same applies to all the games and the level of performance of the whole team will probably dictate how many minutes Cambiasso gets across the 3 games. If his legs can take, I'd personally hate to see him rested as he's been an essential part of our recent winning run.
AyewJoking Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 if we beat burnley surely he will be rested (as may others) for chelsea.
RedSoxUK Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 90 vs Burnley 0 v Chelsea 65ish vs Newcastle Play the rest.
gurru991 Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Obviously Burnley is more winnable than Chelsea and it's more important to have Cambiasso play that game and then rest against Chelsea. We need him healthy for the balance of the season.
goose2010 Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 I honestly cant see why he wouldn't play the full 90 in all 3 or at least start all 3, he is an athlete and the ball does the running for him, for me I think he would want to play all the games he can. I actually think he could do another season at the top level.

I actually think he could do another season at the top level. Don't want him to burn out too early. Played the full amount (Just about, one 85) in the last nine games. He played eight games not even full 90s before he was rested over Christmas in the rotation. I think Chelsea's a perfect game to give Cambiasso a rest, although he'll love to play against Mou as he missed the corresponding fixture, and I'm pretty sure Mou DOESN'T want to play against Cambi, Mou rates him highly. So I actually suspect 90 vs Burnley / 60 vs Chelsea and so on.

I actually think he could do another season at the top level. I've not seen a second of fatigue from him all season. Whether that's because we've managed him so well in terms of time on the pitch or because he's a ****ing tank, I don't know. 90 against Burnley is a given - unless we're somehow 3-0 up half way through the second half. I'd start him at Chelsea if he's up to it
shailen Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 One player I would not drop for the rest of the season is cambiasso. If he is not fit, then rest him otherwise he plays all the games.
foxfanazer Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 Play him against Burnley and Newcastle. Play a 3 of King, Drinky and Hammond against chelsea
Beliall Posted 21 April 2015 Posted 21 April 2015 we always seem to give the top teams a go and field a strong sode. i woulndt be surprised to see him rested for burnley, but i think its more likely he will play as much of all the games we have between now and the end of season as he can.
