Kitchandro Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 Having just seen Carver accuse one of his own players of getting sent off on purpose, I am much more in favour of Pearson attacking the press as he would never ever hang out one of his players like that. Pretty poor from Carver and could cost him the dressing room, if not his job. The players aren't playing for him anyway tbf, and frankly, I think he's got a point. The game was gone, both challenges were completely unnecessary and they knew full well they had no chance of getting the ball. Not only that, they were excessive, not just trips, but exaggerated hacks.
Captain... Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 The players aren't playing for him anyway tbf, and frankly, I think he's got a point. The game was gone, both challenges were completely unnecessary and they knew full well they had no chance of getting the ball. Not only that, they were excessive, not just trips, but exaggerated hacks. Williamson yes, it was a dangerous and disgraceful tackle, Janmatt was just too slow for Vardy, although was it Janmatt who should have got a second yellow early in the second half for taking out Mahrez? I still think you deal with it internally, Pearson would never call out his own players like that, it feels like Carver is trying to keep the fans on side, by calling out the players, but the fans won't win you any matches only those on the pitch will that is why you have to back them publicly, even if you give them a roasting internally.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 End of the day the interview Carver gave today is worse than any interview Nigel will ever give, even if his interview ends with him launching in to a tirade about Romanian wild dogs, snapping the intervewers neck and staring in to the camera and saying 'that's how I did it'. Because the bloke has just (if he hadn't already) lost the dressing room and he's telling his players, and the world at large, that he's a passionate fan, can't manage and that the players at his disposal are a shambles so no point him even bothering. Can you imagine Nigel ever giving an interview/presser like that? Imagine if when we'd been on a similarly bad run earlier in the season he'd come out with comments like Carver has today. Perspective.
DarkTranquillity Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 As long as they keep him until the end of the season. Would really enjoy seeing them relegated.
Fox92 Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 Regardless of whether Carver has a point or not, as a manager (in anything) you don't criticise your staff in front of others.
Raj Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 When's Manager of the Month announced?Hope he don't win it...mom never win owt after picking up that cvnty award!!!
LanguedocFox Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 Regardless of whether Carver has a point or not, as a manager (in anything) you don't criticise your staff in front of others. Exactly. And Pearson has NEVER criticised any of his players in public. Which he is why he is a top manager.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 Carver has three games left remember, he has clearly passed the point of giving a shit who he upsets.
Soar Fox Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 As long as they keep him until the end of the season. Would really enjoy seeing them relegated. Really?? I've saw quite a few people on here and on social media who said they would love to see Newcastle relegated. Personally I don't mind them and in a way feel quite sorry for the fans at how the club is being run.
iancognito Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 I've no issue really with Newcastle or their fans but today was like a tale of two owners. Ours paid £17M for two strikers and put their hand in their pockets again and forked out for clappers to build the atmosphere. Fat Mike has asset stripped the club and was nowhere to be seen. Probably in the boardroom in Glasgow. He won't even see that banner they made.
Foxymcoxy Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 Forked out for clappers It's like 1/4000 of our ticket price or something. But yeah great owners, hard to fault them really.

Perspective I like Carver as a bloke but he's clearly out of his depth in this role. I admire his passion and his complete honesty but he's done himself and the team no favours after that interview. Mike Ashley has royally fooked up in appointing him as the cheap option and it may well come back to bite him on the arse.
Corky Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 Exactly. And Pearson has NEVER criticised any of his players in public. Which he is why he is a top manager. And it's why he's praised as a good man manager, everything that needs to be said is done behind closed doors. All the issues Pearson's had have had little to do with the players, that's all dealt with internally.
Bettsj2 Posted 2 May 2015 Posted 2 May 2015 Quite unbelievable that Carver said what he said. It was a bad idea to make him manager in the first place. It's clear he doesnt have the confidence of the players or the fans. You can quite easily see them not winning another game and getting relegated.
katieakita Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 The press need a story and sometimes they make up stories, did not even listen to the post match Chelsea comments but fair play to him for having passion. Not really bothered if the press like him or not. The important thing here is he has kept the dressing room, when some of us lost faith the playing squad did not,. this season was always going to be hard and we seem to be getting it right at the right time, however bad people think Pearson has been, Carver even though they deserved it was wrong in publicly slagging off his players he has lost the players and the fans.
Rob1742 Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 I do not care one bit how good or bad Pearson is in an interview. The only thing that irks me about his interviews are that the fans choose to pick up on his interview performance, rather than take a balanced view on how he is handling the more important parts of his job. It's a bit like concentrating on Steve Clarridge being scruffy, rather than look at his goal scoring ability. It's about the bigger picture, about whether he is taking club in the right direction, and if he isn't that good publicly, but good elsewhere, I am very happy. Another example, but in reverse was how people judged Ian Hume when he was here. A real trier, hand working, he gave his all, but produced very very little. With him it seemed that the fans liked him, because he was a trier. But he was hopelessly out of his depth, a reason why we declined, but lots of the fans concentrated on what was not important. Pearson comes across as not likeable, but it just does not bother me. I just take a balanced view on the results, the signings, the structure he has put in place and draw a conclusion from that. I prefer not to give my opinion of him at this point, but will say his interview technique will not be part of the conclusion I form.
General Smuts Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 I don't know whether I've said it on here but I've mentioned it numerous times elsewhere - Pearson can do whatever the **** he wants in press conferences as long as we keep grinding out wins. He can flop out his meaty clackers and start playing the willy banjo live on SSN for all I care. Keep the spotlight on yourself and away from the players whilst we keep beating teams. You do you Nige.
Guest Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 He should do, would be interesting if they decide to not give it to him It would be interesting what he'd call them.

There is no place for you on football forums, mate
Mr LIvingstone Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 I think Pearson rant about the ostrich was touch of genius!!! People focused on him and him only, he took all the pressure away from the team, know body talked about the team, the lead up to the game, nothing!!! Far as I'm concerned keep it coming!

Thracian Posted 4 May 2015 Posted 4 May 2015 No, most of the "Pearson Out" mob have gone to ground. Can't understand why. Maybe they're happy that we're doing a whole lot of things well or better now than we were doing for far too long this season - including scoring some goals - and for perfectly good reasons that were often hard to see previously.
fuchsntf Posted 4 May 2015 Posted 4 May 2015 Why in hells name do city supporters, care so much what goes on in an interview. media are after a story no matter how, some managers handle themselves. Just go through this lot, Shankley, Ferguson, Wenger, Alison, Mee, Ramsey, Fagin, Clough, MON, Wallace, Keegan, Morinho, the big mick now of Ipswich, Venables, Revie, joe Mercer, Redknapp,Cantwell, Carrick, Kendal, Nicholsen not one of them shrinking violettes, not 10% of managers that have shown disdain to media reports or interviews, while at the top. This critic on / over Pearsons character, I just dont get...far, too far over the top, then media types letting a nonsecal, confrentation, run over 1-2 weeks.I dont want a well balanced character or nice guy head of my football team. In the fairyland of soccer, without emotions and the odd or regular outbursts...fk it, keep it. Real life is hard enough, sport and pasttimes are the ventil .We British love a good bit of sarcasm, and put downs, jokingly, even statements within the truths, honest or jealousy based on spite. Just read any sport or political forum, we all love the Ostrich moments. Best example this forum, then the contradictive posts.
tuttoa Posted 5 May 2015 Posted 5 May 2015 By far the best column I've read on Pearson (By a Secret Footballer) - http://www.thesecretfootballer.com/articles/the-secret-footballer/25262/tough-guy-nigel-pearson-just-sticking-his-head-in-the-sand/
