Leicesterpool Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Nigel enjoys his job here and he has a great relationship with the owners. So somehow I don't think he's in any rush to go anywhere
desertfox2 Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Can you imagine if he went to a club like West Ham? They wanted big Sam out when they were having one of their best seasons for ages. Pearson is a notorious slow starter at any club, it's a backwards to go forwards kinda thing at the beginning as he overhauls the club. No club would give him the time. Any other club in the prem probably would have sacked their manager after the run we had. He survived that so he's basically bullet proof now unless we had an even worse run next year which hopefully ain't gonna happen. Newcastle would have been one that I was worried might tempt him, but he would nut Ashley within a week. If Ashley sells maybe newcastle. Apart from that he's most likely with us unless England ever offer him a job.
benpicko Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 I had a dream he managed us and England at the same time. Just sayin. Was it a good dream or were both teams shit?
Corky Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Six weeks ago he was our worst ever top flight manager, now the huge clubs are queueing up to prise him away from us.
ScouseFox Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Was it a good dream or were both teams shit? There was no results in the dream, it was just all the media attention linking him to the job, then he took the job but we were all devastated but then outta nowhere he goes "IM STAYING AT LEICESTER TOO BOYS" and we all had a party. Then he went to manage England at the 2002 World Cup which was a bit weird. Woke up just after Senegal beat France.
LCCFox96 Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 After the turnaround this season and the togetherness and resilience the club have shown in the great escape, I'd be amazed if Pearson could be realistically slightly tempted away from giving this job at least another season! That and the owners and fans want Nigel, everyone's a winner.
Benguin Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 be funny as **** At least that fraud Sterling would get dropped.
Harry - LCFC Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Trick question there is no bigger club. Fantastic haha
fleckneymike Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 I can't see a 'big' job (Villa or Everton) or an unappealing big job (Newcastle) coming up during the close season.
shailen Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 One of the good things for us is the way he has handled the media. Few bigger clubs would want a manager to come across this way regardless of his credentials. He's too controversial for a bigger club without having won anything at the top level like Jose or Fergie
ceredigion Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 I can see West Ham approaching him and Newcastle if they stay up. Whether Nigel would be tempted by either is hard to say. The clever money will be on him staying though. I reckon he likes the location as much as anything. Can't see him wanting to be a London based manager. I'd like to see him have a proper crack at the cup competitions next season though. If the likes of Portsmouth and Wigan can win the FA Cup then there's no reason why we shouldn't either.
MattGamble92 Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 What worries me is how Nigel knows there is someone at our club that wanted him gone. He wont forget that. I hate how we treated him during that period and it will come back to haunt us.
LanguedocFox Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Something that is often forgotten is that Pearson has been appalling badly treated in several of the managerial/coaching positions he has had: at Carlisle, West Brom, Southampton, and in his first time at City, he has been sacked or eased out, despite being successful. BUT the Thais have stood by him through thick and thin, and backed him whenever he was under attack - and they didn't do it with a meaningless "vote of confidence", but quietly and in the background. Pearson is clearly an honourable man, and I think he will appreciate the loyalty he has been shown. There is no way that he is going to work for owners like those at Newcastle or West Ham who fail to back managers even when they are doing well. Why would he, FFS?
bovril Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I doubt West Ham will want him. I think they'll go for a style-over-substance coach after the dour pragmatism of Allardyce. If he goes to Newcastle he's madder than we thought.
FrankieADZ Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 ..he's in line to perhaps getting Manager of the year.. His stock has certainly risen... If the likes of West Ham for example, were interested in him I wonder if he'd be tempted? really West Ham, they want some bigger name than Nigel tbh...they made a move from Klopp(he said no me lord)....& hear rumours they are trying to Benetiz
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I don't think so. I think other clubs would want him, but I believe he's happy here at Leicester. He's given a bit of a free-rein, I think, and can spend money IF he chooses to and if the players wish to join us. I think we have Pearson for some time but again, i thought that even if we had have been relegated.
Kinowe Soorie Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I think that location is key to Pearson. Can't imagine him uprooting from his home in Sheffield. We are ideal!
cc_star Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Newcastle would be a no-brainer for him... but for the Ashley factor
ROKERITE Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 He's on his way to that massively bigger club, Sunderland. I'm only kidding, I'll just be happy to be playing you next season.
MrSpaM Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Can you actually imagine Pearson managing England, the press confrences would be hilarious
nixdas Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I think he likes being at Leicester and yes a bigger club could tempt him away but who? Realistically we are probably the biggest club he could manage at this moment of time. I agree that he has the backing of the owners and he has quite alot of respect from within the club even with all his media performances! You either hate him or like him but he has done a fantastic job at this club in a short amount of time in 4 years we have come from 12th in the Championship to fighting relegation in the Premiership and ready to start our 2nd season in the PL! I think that is quite an achievement in itself and he is a midlander at heart so I am sure he is happy here!
Monsell1976 Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Still got a lot to prove to go to a bigger club, yes he got there in the end this season, but I should imagine a bigger club would want to see him have a few consistent years in the premier league, like Oneill. **** me he kept losing it with the press, and that's with patient fans and owners, he would need to work on dealing with the pressure in a better way, can you imagine if he was at somewhere like Newcastle, he'd be on a murder charge
