DB11 Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 I'd say he's behind Drinkwater and Kante but he's better than anything Inler's shown so far
Captain... Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 He will come back 5th choice and have to earn his place in the side, he may have had a bit more credit if Pearsin was still here, but Ranieri has never seen him train or play so it will be tough for him to work his way back to full fitness, then back to match sharpness and then into Ranieri's plans. Good luck to him, great to see him back in training, but we may never see him in a Leicester shirt again, it wouldn't be the first time a bad injury at the wrong time scuppers someone's chances at a club.
ALC Fox Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 I can see him forcing his way back in at some point. It may be Dec or Jan before he's actually ready to make an appearance but it could be longer if our midfield is still playing well. Cheeky quid on scoring the winner as a sub in the League Cup final?
fuchsntf Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 We need another midfielder, so coming back in January would be the right time. Speculating over his ranking, or whether he can overcome his injury outage, is totally irrelevant, until he gets some games in his legs. Why be negative he could well be the man we are looking for.Having DD, Kante, Inler, then James hitting / finding consistent form can only be a great big advantage. A group working for each other, with some good proven skills behind them. Its exactly this scenario, that could make us a long time suprise. Look at those 4 names again, there is no reason, they shouldnt be successfull together in the PL. City have another good 9 game run, sets up James return, and time for Inler to integrate and impose himself. 10 years of shit, now lets dream of us grabbing our rightful but earnt place in the PL. We have become too scared, to believe, lets spit in the face of fear, its our time for the smell of success, Les Miserables..to dream the dream.. This is the time the Foxes, turn around and chase those damn bloodhounds...TALLY-HO.

EastAnglianFox Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 Great to see him back this early, almost like a new signing. Admit I used to see him ahead of Drinkwater, but for me this season Drinky has taken it up a notch alongside Kante, hope this rubs off on Matty.
fuchsntf Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 What about King? just testing the forums knowledge...You pass.. I actually thought I had mentioned him, my mistake. He belongs up there.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 He's average technically. He seems a nice lad and the reason he runs around the pitch is that he follows his poor first touch. Did he score or make an assist last season? King is a fine and tidy footballer, very good at keeping possession and an eye for goal. Drinkwater has so much potential, an excellent centre of gravity and core. He's also got a much better range of passing. Just an opinion.Disagree completely. If you watched our Championship winning season - the assumption is you didn't given your appraisal - you could not possibly come to this conclusion, notwithstanding it's a personal opinion. For me, that season he and Vardy were the standout players, the clincher bring when Jaymo didn't play, Drinky was never the same, when James was without Drinks he still bossed the midfield. He's not quick, but as for lack of quality / first touch, that's absolute nonsense. He is a very tidy player, a ball winner who rarely have the ball away. Knocked Kingy into a cocked hat that season also. Last season he and Cambiasso suffered being played in the ridiculous diamond, if not that, then within a totally negative framework for 6 months. It was not until shit or bust time end of March / April that a style of play was used to see ALL of our players in a different light. You have to consider that we were playing a defensive formation where he was the only one in midfield who could take the workload was James. He was doing the running of at least two men - Cambiasso's legs had gone, the other two were out wide in the shape of those midfield terriers, and renowned work horses Jeff and Mahrez. All that said, not sure he will now command a place in the starting 11 now, even when fit, now we have strengthened our midfield.

As and when he returns to full match fitness he will be an absolute asset to the club as he was before. Keep the others on their toes and be an excellent replacement when required. Top player top bloke.

He's so underrated by our fans, he's a gifted player as well as a workhorse. I have a feeling playing with Kante and Inler will rub off on him and he will raise his game to even better levels than before. Don't be surprised to see him starting games later in the season

Countryfox Posted 23 October 2015 Posted 23 October 2015 don't see how a handjob affects his performance tbh Well you've got me there ... I've no idea whether it would or wouldn't. Perhaps we need a new thread or poll to find the answer.
muzzy1981 Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 Generally how things have happened in the past with James is he gets an opportunity due to another players poor form or injury and he has a really good game and continues to keep that level of form. Although, it is prob going to be a long road back into the first team, with Kante and Inler and King has improved. A mentally very strong player though so sure he will be a key player for us again, always thought he would be our future captain
benpicko Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 With Drinky, James, Kanté, and King we've got a pretty great midfield that should be with us for a while
fleckneymike Posted 24 October 2015 Posted 24 October 2015 I don't see James getting back into the side for a while, especially as we are now deploying two in midfield. For all his neatness last season he doesn't actually do anything; he doesn't have the energy or tackling ability of Kante, he failed to register either a goal or an assist during the last campaign and his pass completion is not better than Drinkwater or King. What would he add to the midfield that we are currently lacking?
davieG Posted 5 November 2015 Posted 5 November 2015 “He’s getting better,” Ranieri said of James’ fitness. “This week, just today (Thursday) he didn’t train with us, but he trained the other days with us and had some more time with the physio. “Slowly he’s getting better, maybe when he’s ready he will go with the Under-21s to play some matches. He’s a good player with good mentality. It’s good for us. It’s good news for the New Year.” Read more at http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/ranieri-james-making-good-progress-2786475.aspx#io6s7hijIMxEp4wO.99

Wymsey Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Is he better than Drinkwater and Kante to warrant a starting berth (when he's at his best)?
Soar Fox Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Is he better than Drinkwater and Kante to warrant a starting berth (when he's at his best)? No. An onform Drinkwater & an onform James, DD starts for me every time.
lgfualol Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Havent missed James tbh Nice to see he is nearly back to full fitness though
tom27111 Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 Adds competition for places. Can only be a good thing. If Drinkwater and Kante up their game even more, we're laughing.
Detroit Blues Posted 2 December 2015 Posted 2 December 2015 If James can recover from his injury, he'd be great depth for when we start having a couple matches a week in December and January.
