MC Prussian Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 It's a welcome fitness and morale boost for the entire team and I wish Matty a speedy remaining recovery. However, having gotten to know a few footballers with similar injuries, it'd be best if we backed off and didn't expect too much of him at this moment. Some people come back quicker than others, but before throwing him straight back into the action, let's make sure he's fully fit.
AyewJoking Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 midfield 3 of James Inler Kante for tomorrow
Vindaloo FOX Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 get a few reserve games and then send him out on loan till Jan i say, it will help him build up his fitness . come back to us in Jan ready to go .
MC Prussian Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 get a few reserve games and then send him out on loan till Jan i say, it will help him build up his fitness . come back to us in Jan ready to go . It could be January or at least December until he's fully fit again. The training picture on its own is rather misleading.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 Think he'll need to go out on loan. Even when he's not coming back from injury he always takes a while to get going at the start of a season and the level we're at now we can't afford him that time so better to have him do it elsewhere.
Riot Van Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 when he's on his game he's better than king and drinkwater imo
westernpark Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 Not in the same class as King, Drinkwater, let alone Kante and Inler. An average footballer, with a big heart.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 why the **** would you loan our 3rd best midfielder.
Jimothy Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 why the **** would you loan our 3rd best midfielder. Because he's had a bad injury and needs to build up his match fitness. If you start pushing him back expecting him to play at our level too soon you're going to break him again.

If you start pushing him back expecting him to play at our level too soon you're going to break him again. This. Arsenal did it a few years ago with Aaron Ramsey when they sent him to forest for a month or two.
LAprice_ Posted 11 September 2015 Posted 11 September 2015 As someone previously stated, the picture is misleading. Seeing him out and about will surely boost an already happy squad though. Great news for everyone. Although, with the strength in depth we have, you'd have to be very, very silly or absolutely stupid to think it's necessary to rush him back. Personally, I rate him slightly higher than Drinkwater and King, albeit, mainly because he's slightly younger. Even still, I wouldn't want him anywhere near a starting 11 until the new year. There is literally no reason whatsoever to rush him.
Dickov22 Posted 12 September 2015 Posted 12 September 2015 Matty James is better than Andy King and Danny Drinkwater.
st albans fox Posted 12 September 2015 Posted 12 September 2015 Matty James is better than Andy King and Danny Drinkwater. This He won't be able to prove it until next season. This season is about getting his fitness back.
westernpark Posted 12 September 2015 Posted 12 September 2015 He's average technically. He seems a nice lad and the reason he runs around the pitch is that he follows his poor first touch. Did he score or make an assist last season? King is a fine and tidy footballer, very good at keeping possession and an eye for goal. Drinkwater has so much potential, an excellent centre of gravity and core. He's also got a much better range of passing. Just an opinion.

Edingleyfox Posted 12 September 2015 Posted 12 September 2015 Matty James is better than Andy King and Danny Drinkwater. I think last season he was the best of the three although Andy King had a great last few matches I hope he does get back in the running but going to be hard work if Inler and Kante establish themselves.

Vicki Vixen Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 Great to see Matty James back on the training ground. I didn't realise he was back in first team training already. I hope Matty is in CR's plans and once he's fit, he gives us another very good option in Midfield.
lgfualol Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 I could imagine him going on loan if he is back in the next couple of months. Else, I'd say he is 5th choice. He's a great could be really great player, but I don't miss his corners .
Max Power Posted 22 October 2015 Posted 22 October 2015 That is an astonishingly quick recovery. I'm sure he's a few weeks off playing but still.

He was a mainstay of the team when playing and since then, in central midfield, we have lost Cambo and gained Inler (?!?!) and Kante ... and now he's 5th ?
