Matty James - Come Back Soon

I am pleased he appears to have recovered from what looked like a career ending injury. That said, let's put things into perspective. Firstly, he needs to regain full fitness and to shed a few pounds he looked like a barrel playing against Villareal yesterday.

Secondly he really does need to practice corners cos they never ever beat the first man.

Thirdly, let's get real he is not a patch on Kante and is not fit to even lace his boots. Good squad player once back up to full fitness arguably yes. Good enough to replace Drinkwater or Kante not in a million years.

Long way for him to go yet. Has great potential and will be a squad asset. Hopefully he won't suffer any more nasty injuries and will progress back to full fitness. Great bloke and pleaded he has recovered.

A good back up for drinky. I'm just not sure whether he has a future at city with Inler and King in the mix with Drinky and Kante. King has a goal in him, James aswell as the other midfielder are as deadly as lion without legs and teeth

On loan to Forest!

Good move for him, he will end up perm there

Nobody's saying James is suddenly shite or that he won't be good enough. But Kanté and Drinkwater are playing at a pretty high level atm and James has just come back from a career-threatening injury. As long as this form goes on, all other CMs are, correctly, not getting a sniff.

However, if Ranners can coax as much out of James as he has out of the likes of Drinky, Mahrez and Vardinho then we might have a very different player on our hands.

Loan him out to a mid table Championship team for a month or two when he's ready, think that's the sensible thing to do for all parties. He needs to get match fit and with our current midfield as it is he won't get a sniff for a long time. We've seen before when he's come back from injuries he seems to need time to get up to speed, and after coming back from such a serious injury he'll probably need more time than normal. Definitely a loan job, similar to what Arsenal did with Ramsey.

Got to be 3rd choice CM for me when fit.

Drinkwater/Kante

King and James on the bench.

Bin Inler, he's shit.

A player who captains his national side, a good side, and has played over 100 times for Udinese and Napoli isn't shit.

He just looks to slow for our fast counter attacking style. He'd probably look good in a slower team, Manchester United, for example.

I can only judge what I've seen of him, which is 3 appearances for us.

He's been shit every time. Hence my conclusion that he's shit.

When he puts in a performance that isn't shit, I'll change my mind.

But for now, he's shit.

Pop quiz, have we ever loaned a player out for them to come back and be a valued member of the first team squad? From what I can remember, most players that leave Leicester on loan are usually counting their days at the club.

Yes absolutely right, I just mean for this one off time given the climate, simply to get him fit and playing competitive football. I'm sure if we do loan him out it will only be for a month with a possible extension to 2, and I'm sure he'll be made fully aware that this is simply to get him back playing football before he's ready to slot in to a team playing such as ours currently is, he's a player who will need at least a dozen games to get up to speed and he's better off doing that in a competitive championship side than with our under 21's, all in my opinion, of course.

I agree that he needs competitive football. The level at U21 level looks terrible.

Although he's back playing some football, it'll still be a while before he's anywhere near to return to the first team after an injury like that. Years ago, we'd be holding our breaths to see if he ever played again.

Yes still a way off just thinking when he is ready rather than thrusting him in to out 11 or squad, maybe under 21's for a few weeks then a loan for a month or something, just thinking what will be best for him and the club long term because as you say, this injury was and still is very, very serious and needs to be managed carefully.

Tony Cottee, we signed him from some club in Malaysia, he didn't look great so we loaned him to Brum, he came back and the rest is history

Just shows how far we've come in a relatively short space of time, if some think he's not good enough for us at the moment.

James injury couldn't really have come at a worse time for him personally. Like others have said, where does he fit in now? Coming off the bench for the last 10 minutes or so for fresh legs in the centre is about as good as its going to get for him I feel when he is match fit. I don't see who he can displace in this side. Hes got the same problem as Inler has. Realistically, its only going to be an injury or ban which sees him get any significant game time from here on in. I can see him being out the door to be honest sooner rather than later, which is a shame, because he is a decent player, but he is surplus to requirements as it stands.

It's a long season. Any of the central midfielders could get injured at anytime. Our squad is quite deep at the moment. I like it.

You must have a fantastic memory to remember something like that!

Think Claudio has hinted at loaning him out. Tend to agree. Get him match fit then he can take his place in the squad properly.

It'll be good when he's back. Another boost to the centre midfield.

In his post match interview he says he's looking forward to playing again in a couple of days. Reckon he'll be in the FA Cup match?  :fc:

Hope so, even if it's just a short sub appearance. Such a likeable bloke, looking forward to seeing him play again
