Think Nige would be an excellent appointment for them although I don't think they have enough to stay up. He'd get them straight back up though and in a much better shape than they are now. I doubt Pearson or anyone could turn their season round at least Viera doesn't have much to lose by going there.

I know nowadays contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on but think it'd speak volumes if we could 'tie them down'. Think they'd just reject any new deals offered if their plan's were to leave when Pearson get's a new job.

It would mean that they get a big payout if we decided to get rid of them and they can always resign if they want to leave. No one in the backroom staff rejects a big contract in football. Not like players where there are fees involved.

After spending the summer certain that at some point we'd be sucked into real trouble (and we obviously still might) I'd be mortified if any of Sunderland, Newcastle or Villa got above us at any stage this season now.
