kushiro Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Two years ago Liverpool's odds were much shorter - 5 to 1 on. Before the Chelsea game. Anyonw know what Man U's odds were in 2012 when they were 8 clear with 6 to play?
Merging Cultures Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 Villa's new badge.. BBC says they spent less than GBP80k on the refresh. I hope it was about GBP79,999 less.
shen Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 That's true but is Sol Campbell the only great defender Wenger has signed? Kolo Toure was pretty good for them as well I guess. Wenger was a great manager but he did inherit a superb back four + keeper, and he built a world class midfield and attack from that and it culminated in the best era of Arsenal's history. Since the Invincibles broke up some of the defenders Wenger has signed have been from decent to absolute shocking. Sagna was arguably one of the best right backs in the world when he was at Arsenal and Gallas was pretty decent. Clichy turned out alright too. He nurtured Ashley Cole into arguably the best left back in the world at the time while Bellerin is showing excellent signs of reaching similar heights. Maybe he doesn't have as stellar records as Mourinho and Ferguson when it comes to defenders, but I don't think it's fair to say he only signed one great defender.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 That's one hell of a drop after Newcastle away. I can see why as well as that was a performance of a side that were the real deal. Even bigger after United and Swansea-the game where Vardy kept his head under pressure and we dominated for a draw, then the game that really announced Riyad to the masses... That's where our strength of character started to be taken seriously...

The thing that's so surprising is just how stubborn or ignorant he's been about replacing Vieira. He's never come close, which is completely bizarre. Both his and France's biggest success were built on Vieira and Petit enforcing in the centre (albeit France also had the best player of all time in front of them), but when Vieira left Arsenal that was that. The teams that followed were still strong-Gallas, Fabregas, Henry were among the best players in Europe at the time, and they played an effective system, but they always had the soft centre that meant they couldn't grind a result out. They have a massive war chest and have the location and CL football to attract almost anyone in the world, but don't even seem to have tried. If they keep Coquelin fit he might grow into that role-he does look very good on form, but since the Arsenal medical team seem intent on turning their players' limbs into gingerbread it is unlikely to ever happen.

Players like Vieira don't come around very often to be fair though. France have achieved nothing since either. But you're right about him struggling to deal with his absence ever since. Arguably they have not had a proper leader in years, much like Man Utd haven't had one since Keane left. He would've been wise to change his approach to suit the players at his disposal. If they played the kind of football we do, they would be a splendid side, like they showed when they beat us at King Power or when they beat Bayern. If they set up to counter quickly on a general basis, I believe they would be more successful.

shen Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 Surely... I'm not kidding, no. Very complete full back, who was hands down the best in the Premier League for a few years. Tailed off and had a lot of injuries before going to Man City, but in his mid twenties he was excellent. Surpassed by Dani Alves and Philip Lahm, yes, but still among the best in the world.
FireFox Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 Nicked off reddit - our league position after every game week this season We weren't first after week one, or two or three...
sdb Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 Those graphs make me feel physically sick for some reason!
AKCJ Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 We weren't first after week one, or two or three... Not at the end of the gameweek per say, but we were top of the league after each result.
filbertstreet Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 Those graphs make me feel physically sick for some reason! Are you looking at them while you're on a boat maybe
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 John Terry's PFA team of the year looks strong. Yep, good to see seven Leicester players in the team. Being a Leicester fan I would say that, but I do actually agree with his team selection overall.
LCFC FOX Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 I don't think is should be Kasper, but the others are all worthy shouts
foxes21 Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 I don't think is should be Kasper, but the others are all worthy shouts Agreed. In all honesty Kasper hasn't had to do much this season, because our defence has been so solid. Someone like Cech or De Gea deserve it more, who basically bail their team out every week because the defenders in front of them are rubbish.
Long Eaton Fox Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 If Liverpool win the Europa league and qualify for the Champions league next season, does that affect how many teams qualify from the Premiership? Help.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 If Liverpool win the Europa league and qualify for the Champions league next season, does that affect how many teams qualify from the Premiership? Help. No, unless man city win the CL and end up fifth... in which case only the top three go through with Liverpool and man city. You are only allowed five teams from one nation
Fox92 Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 Lloris or De Gea for me. De Gea for me too. Unthinkable where Manchester United would be without him.
Fox92 Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 Smalling is a good shout but got to be centre half for me. Bellerin at right full back.
NGoloMode Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 Whether you think hitting the wood work is lucky or not this is interesting for all the Spurs fans calling Leicester lucky.
EnglishOxide Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 Liverpool giving it a good go against Dortmund despite playing Origi up front. 1-0 up. Makes Spurs not going full strength against them even more ridiculous.
Fox92 Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 Whether you think hitting the wood work is lucky or not this is interesting for all the Spurs fans calling Leicester lucky. Means nothing though. "If" could be applied to every aspect of your life. It didn't happen.
