Nobody has said that he'll be better than Cambiasso, just that he'd be better than we've got. Which is a completely fair point.

You've named one player who has come from SA and failed.

I suggest reading this... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30112089

I'm not going back through this thread but somebody suggested he will be the best player we've ever had!  lol So yeah, that's kind of the same thing.

I mentioned 2  . Just glancing at the name of players in that article, it backs up my point perfectly. In the main, the players who have had success here have played in European leagues before joining us which is what I was getting at. I said players (the majority of) directly from SA have flopped and that article just confirms that (Kleberson, Boselli and even Angel, 1 season apart)

Don't try and patronise me by getting me to read something when you couldn't even be bothered to read what I put because if you had, you wouldn't have produced that article.

Is this still dragging on! :crylaugh:

I've totally forgot about the saga, just saw it pop up and noticed the thread was still going!!

I read somewhere that BL's offer had extras attached to it. I wonder if an increase to 12mill will suffice for inter as they can sell it as being a 15mill deal when the add ons are taken into account

We seem to be getting some airplay on the BL Forum.  So please no more nasty German Jokes and do now mention 'W' word.

They do seem confident though that they will get him, but there are concerns or more 'attractive' Team than Leicester may come in and offer the 15M euros (Do they mean Forest or Burnley?).

Where do we stand now ? Has our offer been withdrawn ?

Chelsea were interested according to transfermarkt, our offer's just sitting there pissing off Bayer, we stand at the top of the Premier League  :scarf:

Left out of the squad again for Internacional in their match that starts in five minutes. Not new news but you would think he's played his last match for them.

I wonder if there is middle ground between Inter and BL?

Will BL pay €15m if they have to?

Will Internacional accept anything less than €15m?

If the answer to both those questions is no then you would think he'll end up here by the end of the month.

I wonder if the reported €12m increased offer is a compromise to Inter or will just infuriate them further, the latter I hope and suspect.

It's somewhat odd - I presume the club is looking at securing the services of only one more experienced midfielder sometimes soon. We cannot continue with a somewhat weak central midfield for the entire season.

I imagine an 80m dash race and the first one to cross the finishing line wins.

There's a reason why he's 26 and still playing in South America. Just because he's really burst onto the scene in the last couple of years doesn't mean he'll be amazing here. Most of the people going crazy over the prospect of signing him, have probably only seen him play a couple of times.

Look at somebody like Paulinho. He was higher rated than Aranguiz, younger and cost more yet he was completely underwhelming. Plus he had prior experience in Europe. Payers making the leap from SA to England often need a lot of time to adjust or to go to another European League and then move on.

No doubting he could be class but people saying he'd walk into the team or be our greatest ever midfielder, is just embarrassing. There's a reason why the teams he's been linked with aren't in Europe's elite. I hope he doesn't come just so I don't have to deal with the pathetic hysteria from these people...

I've wondered myself why "big" teams aren't chasing him. Basically not worth the risk.

A big team is chasing him, BL are a German Champions League team. Par for the course for them is finishing second in their group and being knocked out to a group winner in the R16 to Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern, Chelsea, PSG, Arsenal, Juventus, etc.

If really big teams were chasing him they'd just stump up €15m and be done with it and we'd have no chance.

We can't expect to compete with really big teams like Barcelona, Man Utd, etc for players.

As for "not worth the risk"? Aranguiz was MOM in the Copa America cup final in which Messi played in. He was also named in team of the tournament. If this is a risk for Leicester City then every player we've ever signed has been a risk.

We've never signed a player with a CV like Aranguiz in our history.

Similar to players like Payet at West Ham. For his age there's no real sell on value or unproven consistently at this level. So the real 'big' clubs usually wait for a club at our level to buy, and if they succeed then make their move.

Who's that?  ;)

I meant at his peak, Cambiasso done great for us but he appeared finished at the top level after being released by Inter Milan. A bit like signing Messi at 39.

Why would anyone want a player who doesn't want to come here and grasp their chance?

Fvck him. Just imagine his sullen face holding up our shirt at the press conference

We're not assembling a Sven-style 'all-star team' of rated players, or at least I hope not.

In all fairness wasn't Kante the same? Even his face holding up the shirt didn't look to excited but he still looked like he was giving it his all on Saturday.

He might not want to be here but it's unlikely he would play shit if he was here because he'd surely want to impress other teams/scouts watching so he can leave for a better club.

Forgiven. If however you mention the 'K' word, The Sun will accuse FT as being racists.

No thanks our whole side at the moment seem like they want to be at leicester playing for the shirt that's 10 points right there. We don't need anyone who doesn't want to come
