Jamie Vardy

Recommended Posts

Have the club said anything about this? Even just a "we'll look into it" statement?

They'll need to do a proper investigation, full video, witnesses etc. I just hope because he's a first team player he isn't treated differently to a reserve player.....

Nothing from the club that i'm aware off but apparently Kick It Out have contacted him;

Think some of us are saying stop with the knee jerk reactions. You have people saying he used the term chap, sounds like chap to me but as far as you are concerned it is Jap because the sun says so, so it must be right. Sure the club will deal with this if they feel it needs to be addressed personally the drinking, gambling and loutish behaviour is more of a worry than possibly an ill informed ignorant comment

Could be chap. I don't think 'jap' is racist = 'bad', the far left do, some political correct city fans do. His other behaviour isn't wrong either.

People need to get a grip, but if he has said 'jap', and the rules of society say that's 'wrong', then LCFC have to sack him.

If Chelsea don't sack Terry for calling Ferdinand a "f**king black c**t" then LCFC are under no obligation to sack Vardy for allegedly saying Jap when there is no conclusive evidence that he did so.

I find it funny how the Sun are claiming that vardy is racist for using the word jap. Yet on their website they have the headlinesheadlines "Jap'll do nicely" and "japs in jungle for 60 years" let's be honest there is a reason why that s**t rag only has a 1% circulation rate in Liverpool. Liars and hypocrites they are

So are the Sun wrong and racist to print the word "jap"?

If they are doesn't that make Jamie wrong too?

Most likely Jamie reads papers like the sun and never realised that it could be racist.

he clearly says "jap" anyone thinking he is saying "chap" is deluded

The quality is so poor no one can say for sure what he is saying, it's all about perception and what you want to hear at this point due to the subtitles being added and going into watching the video looking for the word jap.  I'm guessing any general security footage will have been wiped over so we can't tell.

The onus should be on The Sun to have audio/speech experts to prove that is what's said.

Are the social justice warriors on here that are so offended by this word going to contact the press complaints commission and try to get the writers and editor of the Sun investigated for using racist language in their previous stories?

There is no doubt he has been aggressive but we are only seeing a small section of the event and being led in a direction that fits the narrative of the story.

If they were aware that it's a slur, and not like calling schmeichel a Dane, then yes, they're racist. If they weren't then they're just a bit ignorant, and should apologise and make efforts not to use it again - likewise Vardy. The point they're making though is that the sun are hypocrites to use it so freely but attack anyone else who appears to have said something coming close to it.

Sun in Desperate Attempt to Raise Paper Sales Shock.

I abhor racism but this is making a mountain out of a molehill. If I was overseas, and I have been many times, and someone said to me 'Yo Brit, move on' I'd know who they were talking to and I wouldn't find the term 'Brit' offensive in itself.

There are lots of terms I used to use which I wouldn't dream of using now. Chinky and half-caste being among them and Jap being another one which I only relatively recently learned was used with racist connotations. When you find out something is offensive to people on the basis of who or what they are then you'd have to be a complete arsehole to continue with the given descriptor or action. I know idiots will whinge about political correctness, but political correctness only means not being a dickhead. I can live with that.

I can well imagine that Vardy, if he has used the term, did so in ignorance without thinking he was doing the equivalent of calling somebody a paki or a nigger. In which case the best thing he could do is to apologise for any offence caused and not use such a slur again. Oh, and not acting a willy puller in casinos is probably a decent idea too.

BULLSHIT!

Surely someone at the sun newspaper would know it was racist.

Well yes it does if they are going to print headlines on their front page claiming someone who has used the same term they have used on more than one occasion is racist then they are wrong. They are clearly trying to ruin a man's career. My point is why is it fine for them to print the word jap but racist when a footballer uses it. They obviously think it's racist because they have ran the vardy story. yet they printed the word in a headline on more than one occasion thinking it to be a racial slur.

At an organisation of that size, you'd expect someone would, the question is whether they're relevant to the article - if they're one of the photographers, the story won't go through them, so unless the author, subeditor, editor, head editor and proof readers are one of the people who are aware of the connotations around the word jap, it can slip through the cracks.
