Mahrez

There's nobody in the Premier League(apart from Hazard) that effortlessly glides past players the way he does. Could easily play for a top 4 side so in this day and age, he's worth £30m+

The new TV money means english clubs need to stay up so I can't see anyone selling anyone of note in January

Infact most english clubs will be looking stupid money for players as they don't need to sell anymore , any of them

He is a 40-50m player now with his contract and his age and progress

And City will want 60m to part with him if he scores 20+ goals

He is different class on song , he looks so happy at present so there is no pressure

He will want a new contract next summer of £120k+ a week

Then it will get interesting how city manage that

Personally thought that we looked brilliant with Schlupp, Mahrez and Dyer running at the Villa defenders.

Truly superb entertainment and i'm so proud of this team.

Seriously I wonder what some fans be smoking

And why is that? The clubs that have been mooted as being interested in Mahrez are of top 4 calibre so surely if we sell him to one of those clubs it's a sign that we don't necessarily see ourselves as being able to compete at that level (and I agree that we can't AT THE MOMENT). If we do sell him then we are no different to Southampton who sold arguably their best players two seasons ago and Swansea who sold Bony to Man City last season.

Please explain your comment...

Didnt like the way he went down holding his face near the end when the defender had been no where near his face, its a good job the FA havent got the balls to charge him like they did that non league player the other week.

He was clutching his face (in agony) because he wanted the ref to think amavi had committed a second bookable offence. It was indeed embarrassing to see him get quickly back to his feet and take the free kick once he saw that dean hadn't bought it. he doesn't need to do that unless it's a clear very poor tackle.

Laughing ? United paid 50 million for an untried 19yo

Maybe he is worth 60-70 Mahrez

A Spanish reporter asked Messi at the weekend: "So how does it feel to be the best player in the world?"

Messi replied: "I dunno, you'd better ask Riyad Mahrez mate"

Dunno if this has beeb. Mentioned in here yet but he needs to find his right foot. So many times yesterday- including this video clip sending the three Villa players on their arses- he then tried checking back into his left

He seems to be getting on alright as it is mate...

There's no doubt about his class and quality on the ball, but I thought in the first half and early in the second half against Villa he showed quite clearly why it's a calculated risk playing him on that right wing, and it's a risk that might not always necessarily pay off until his decision-making matures a bit more. He likes to try and beat people, try new things and take risks, but a few he either messed up what he was trying or got doubled up on and lost the ball, leaving RDL really exposed on that right side. And if RDL has darted forward as we expect him to do from time to time with his pace, it's a bit of a liability having Mahrez dancing on the ball trying to trick his way around players when one wrong move could leave acres of space behind him (e.g Villa's second goal). He's much less of a liability in that more central freer role just behind the striker. It's a bit of a trade-off that Ranieri has to figure out game by game.

Seriously think we can overtake Spurs as the token Europa league side come pushing champions league in the next 5 years, and keeping players like Mahrez will be key to that

If he continues like this January may be a tough ask for us to keep him. He is not going to be cup tied from Champions league games, so IF, and its still a big if as only 5 games in, a big team, English or foreign might think he's worth spending millions on.

We can afford to say no, at least until end of season, but and I might be mistaken I dont see a top club of interest, coming

in for him, that he would consider....

Lets play silly...

What if...

#city are in top 4

# In top 6

# in top 10

# bottom half.

Then each fan will have their opinions on worth...

We got him for less than 500k.

So taking into account he has a 4yr+ Contract. Is it worth letting him go for 10 / 20/ 35 /40+ mill, what price would

1) the club be happy

2) if different what price would our fans find acceptable or totally unacceptable.

As a fan, if any player could guarrantee us a top 4 place, or FA cup success, then prefer to ignore

the money, but I doubt 1 single player could offer that, not even Mahrez.

As excellent as he was in the last half hour, he has two major flaws that I think people are missing, or which we're getting away with for now:

  1.  He is incredibly one-footed. His game revolves around getting it onto his left. Don't get me wrong, it's one hell of a left foot, but we desperately need somebody to coach him to use his right effectively. Villa had him in his back pocket for 70 minutes until they tired and let him get more space to get his shots and passes away. We're never going to get that time against defenses that are, to be frank, less shit, and Riyad will have anonymous games.
  2. His defensive tracking-back is poor and leaves De Laet exposed too often. I'm actually impressed with how De Laet has done this season, but he often gets over-run because he doesn't have the support that Schlupp gets from Albrighton. On the rare occasion that that support is actually there Richie looks twice the player, as is true for every rightback pretty much ever.

If we can somehow get these two issues ironed out, we'll have the complete player. For now he's great, but he could be world class if he does these two things.

40-50m? What the hell? He's in great form and has bags of potential but that sort of money is way off the mark of his transfer value at the min. He's not captain of Real Madrid with 50 caps to his name. Yes he's a great player one of the most exciting we have seen here for years and if he keeps improving then who knows how far he can go,but 50m? Behave yourself. His market value at the min would be between 10-20m max. Not that we need to or should sell him. But if he continues to grab the headlines and a top club does come in for him in Jan then i think the club would find it hard to deny him the opportunity. But his fee would be nowhere near 50M today.

signed a 4 yr contract so I would expect he current value to be at 20million as it stands. He is looking class and though can be frustrating when he holds onto the ball he had a hand in all three goals on Sunday and is one of the most exciting players we have ever had. I love him.

Have you seen Hazard's recent form? Not a patch on Riyads

Yer but he isn't a big name from Europe so he can't be as good as Hazard. How dare you suggeSt that someone who plays for Leicester City is as good as a player that was MASSIVE for some foreign team. Shame on you! lol

Remember he is playing in a team that exists on the counter and has to work v hard without the ball. Imagine how much damage he could do in one which retained possession where he would be using most of his energies in a creative sense. When it comes to him deciding whether he stays or goes in the short term, this may well help tip his decision against staying.

Never mind potential, he IS the best player in the premier league on current form. There's no way he would go for as little as £10m.

Arsenal can go and do one keep putting out the news that they're interested in him trying to unsettle him before we take them on in a couple of weeks!!

Riyad is a little gem who has really found his form and now makes him hot property,a few years ago and City would be rubbing their hands together at the thought of the amount of money they could make but long gone are the days we need to sell our best players as were financially far more better off!

At last were not having to be a selling club we have great owners who have the cash and ambition to turn us into a top 10 PL Club.

And unfortunately as we are doing so well it won't go away that the bigger clubs will be coveting our top players !!

Makes that challenge from Gradel at Bournemouth so maddening when you look back at it. Clearly he was told 'as soon as Mahrez gets the ball go in hard and take the yellow card'. Imagine if that had injured worse than it did.

Injury will be the only thing that stops him now becoming a really really great player on any stage he wants.
