Mahrez

Recommended Posts

If riyad had held off the Algerian call up, surely he would be playing for France now?

As a kid i loved Muzzy and my heart said we had one of the top players in England.

Now my head is saying we actually do.

In that interview from a few days ago he said that his heart was Algerian and that he wanted to represent them for his father. So he may have chosen them regardless.

"He's probably one of the most exciting players I've seen in recent years in the Premier League."

can we still throw a shoutout to kingfox who thought 4 million pounds was a "drive him there myself" kinda offer :worship:

I'm not too bothered about picking on people for having underestimated Mahrez - after all I thought Oldfield and Gilchrist were wonderful back in the day when there were plenty of people out there who rightly understood that they weren't, and was convinced that Kitson, Joachim and Spearing were all a bit special when they weren't - but Mahrez is turning out to be an exceptional talent. One of the best I've ever seen in a City shirt. The only thing which can stop him is the treatment table.

His first touch was atrocious during the first 60 minutes of the game.

He was better in the free role playing behind. Good cross for the third goal and great commitment from Dyer.

lol

Did you see how many crossfield passes he killed instantly with his first touch? Mental.

Damien Comolli has expressed his shock that the Premier League's big guns did not try to lure Riyad Mahrez away from Leicester in the summer.

Mahrez has been outstanding for the Foxes this season and played an instrumental role in Sunday's thrilling come-from-behind win against Aston Villa.

He recently signed a new long-term deal with Claudio Ranieri's side, and Comolli, Liverpool's former director of football strategy, believes they are lucky to have him.

"If he was playing for one of the top sides, we would be talking about him every day," the transfer specialist, who has also served as Tottenham's director of football, told talkSPORT.

"Mahrez's performance yesterday was absolutely outstanding. Every time he touched the ball you could fell something would happen and he makes things happen.

"He had only one year left on his contract a few months ago and I am amazed that none of the big clubs went for him because the way he has been playing he could play for any team in thePremier League."

Big club arrogance, there's no luck it's about having a brilliant recruitment team and not just cherry picking proven players because you can afford it.

Whisper it softly, but it looks like we could be up there with Swansea & Southampton in terms of proving to the old guard that a bit of nous goes further than a large wallet.  Fully expect an attempted raid on the club next summer if we keep this up and finish top half.

Got to be £25m-£30 minimum with a few more of these performances. Currently one of the top players in the league with the x factor to go with it.

Nial Quinn's praise of him and us after the game was lovely to hear.

I genuinely think he's worth more.

We wouldn't welcome such an offer as for us he's irreplaceable but if the giants of the game come knocking with silly money it's hard to keep him.

There have been a few players down the years who look spectacular but have little end product and Mahrez has now developed end product. His talent is without dispute, you could honestly make a decent argument that he's as good as Messi at dribbling with the ball at his feet and it wouldn't be the most stupid thing you've heard today.

He has the potential to become the best player in the PL.
