shailen Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 And that is why they'll finish in the top four and we won't. The difference being their finishing and all round play. We were okay today but they were just superb. First time we have been truly outclassed in a long time.
Guest Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 play like that against Norwich (except for Mahrez) and we can win by more than 3.
Babylon Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Where is that thread about not losing by three. Just want to thank the OP for tempting fate and winning me £95!
Number 6 Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Just saw we had 45% possession? Our highest league possession of the season?
Guest Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Where is that thread about not losing by three. Just want to thank the OP for tempting fate and winning me £95! Well that's a meal out for you and the missus this week without winning a mill then. How much do you spend on betting? How many times did Mahrez lose the ball today - must be the highest number in the Prem this week.
jim5000 Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Not sure why he won't play Ulbrighton and Ulloa at the same time. Albighton pings all these great crosses in, then we take him off and bring on someone that has a chance at heading some of them! It was a good match tho, great that Vardy kept his good form going and we went for it and lost 5-2 rather than sitting back and losing 3-0. Give Ranari a chance to bring in some of the B team from the W ham game now.
Number 6 Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 De Laet was better today too but does seem to play a yard behind the rest of our defence. Morgan constantly tried to bring the line up.
Swiper Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Just saw we had 45% possession? Our highest league possession of the season? Sure didn't feel like it.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Oh, and Walcott was fantastic today; movement completely dicked our defence about.
kingfox Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Drinkwater & Vardy were class, the rest were average or awful. Taking off Okazaki was a mistake, turned us more defensive & made us slow going forward. Too many passes given away from Schlupp, Kante & Mahrez in particular, they counter attacked the hell out of us, De Laet had no support again, while Schlupp was about dead. Morgan & Huth are good at dominating the air, but were too slow at reacting when the ball was on the floor, can blame them if you like but majority of Arsenal attacks started down the flanks, due to De Laet having no help from Mahrez & Schlupp having no help when Albrighton went off. Hopefully we just brush this off like we did against Chelsea, move on & get some points at Norwich next week.
blueharmie Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Oh, and Walcott was fantastic today; movement completely dicked our defence about. This.
Matt Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Fuming. They won that 2-3 as far as i'm concerned, still a loss, but i'm not having Arsenal be flatted by 2-5 after that, although after hearing reports of their 3rd being offside aswell, maybe it was 2-2 as far as i'm concerned, i'll reserve judgement and say they won 2-3 until i've seen a replay though. I'm not one to blame the referee or officials as many people know, it's a pet hate of mine but today they are at fault, they were a disgrace, the linesman is one of the worst i've ever seen, Arsenal must have been offside atleast 3, 4 maybe even 5 times, 2 of them led to 2 goals, 3 if reports of the 3rd are correct. There was a foul on Okazaki and Vardy leading to their 2nd. Bleeding joke. We didn't play bad and I don't think the defence were at fault for much really, if todays game was played by the rules it would have been a totally different game. The loss doesn't sit well with me, it's a horrible feeling but to know it's mainly the officials fault makes it even worse. And for me of all people to pin it on the officials, they must have been bad.
sycokilla Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 they gave us a lesson in counter attack. Two great goals from Vardy ...the man is on fire. After that result its a good opportunity for CR to change the team without too much criticism. Thought the score line was flattering to them and we were a little unlucky with decisions and the goal posts. thought Vardy and Drinky were immense. All the hype about Mahrez being targeted has to stop we are turning him in to a victim and he is starting to believe it......
FoxSince88 Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Anybody that thinks de laet was better than shit today have a word with yourselfs... Add schlupp to that too
Claridge Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Just saw we had 45% possession? Our highest league possession of the season? Must of been Kasper who had 25%
leicsmac Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 It's not a trip to the cinema you know, I don't get any enjoyment from seeing my team beaten. If you were watching as a neutral you might say that but not when it's your team getting beaten. I start questioning whether people even have the same priorities as me when this sort of thing gets said. Interesting point. Depends on where you fall on the sliding scale of tribalism vs entertainment value. If you think City winning or losing is the be all and end all then yeah, of course you're going to not enjoy them losing even if the action itself was memorable. Personally City losing does annoy me but if we take it to a superior side in this way and go down fighting then I'm not going to feel as bad about it as if we'd gone into our shells and lost 0-2 or got picked apart and lost by even more. I think the performance does matter, and today City weren't bad at all - they just ran into an Arsenal side who finally clicked for the first time this season.
Guest Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 De Laet was much much better than Mahrez today.
adam95581 Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 I've been saying we need to go to 352 and today was a game to do it. However, we didn't so no point harping on about that. The game today (defence aside) - Mahrez was poor and teams are going to get his number and work out how to play him, whether he is a good player or a great player will be shown in how he deals with this. Drinky and Kante are a good pairing even when they're overrun and outnumbered in midfield. This will be vital against teams who don't have the quality that Arsenal have. They're physically good and both look to get forward quickly. Helps with our pacey counter attacking options. Finally, I would rather support a team who lose 5-2 going for the game and showing determination than a team who set up to contain and defend with 11 men behind the ball all game. Still work to be done but let's enjoy it and get behind the team next week away to Norwich. COYB
Matt Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 The most important thing to come out of today will remain to be seen until next week, we need to bounce back next week.
Guest Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Anybody that thinks de laet was better than shit today have a word with yourselfs... Add schlupp to that too Don't know what game you were watching he was very good today.
sphericalfox Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Mahrez was ****ing shite today. Mahrez was dealt with professionally. All his trickery was managed by better players capable of working him out. He looked knackered by the 50th min, and whilst it looked as though he got a second wind in the last ten mins it was too late. Had we had a like for like sub, he would have been the first to come off in my opinion.
CKB Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 It was coming, we may have got away with laughable defending so far this season but you will get punished by the top teams and that's what happened RDL was shocking, his positional play is league 2 at best. He goes way to central and leaves so much space, example Sanchez' 2nd and yeah Schlupp didn't help but RDL just went central and left Ozil all on his own to just chip the ball in Sanchez hat trick goal was good but why the hell is Morgan just turning away and not coming forward like a commanding CB should? It was weak defending which possibly could have been stopped with more authority Mahrez was just poor today, Schlupp isn't a LB but that's been the case for along time. Why wasn't Fuchs even on the bench? was he unfit or was it a crazy decision from Ranieri? We have/showed what we can do attacking wise but we have to start getting tighter at the back

Whiniest post I've ever read, we were completely outplayed second half - the officials were dire first half and I do think 5-2 is a little flattering but to say our defence didn't play badly? They were completely ruined by movement on a different planet. It's Arsenal, they're a good side - move on to next week which is our bread and butter. RDL was shocking, his positional play is league 2 at best. He goes way to central and leaves so much space, example Sanchez' 2nd and yeah Schlupp didn't help but RDL just went central and left Ozil all on his own to just chip the ball in Jeff was worse than DeLaet today by a margin.
Lcfc_1995 Posted 26 September 2015 Posted 26 September 2015 Vardys progress is a great thing to see, both really good finishes, schlupp was awful and was caught out too often, think we may have needed someone a bit more experienced like Fuchs for the next game
