Sunbury Fox Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Southampton playing first choice keeper, van Dijk, Wanyama, Pelle. Says it all. Your arguments could apply to them but they're trying to win the game. We went too far with the changes.
Guest MattP Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Surely no one would seriously moan on Saturday if we lost for doing our best to reach a major cup quarter final?

Your arguments could apply to them but they're trying to win the game. We went too far with the changes. But we made 11 changes and beat a West Ham side with plenty of first teamers. I don't blame Ranieri for thinking they could do it again, and they nearly did. In another note. one of Man City's first teamers just got stretchered off. If that was Fuchs or someone yesterday, we'd all moan.
The Doctor Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Oh so we have 40+ points already do we ?? Not safe yet by a long mile We're not over 40 points yet but that's rarely needed, realistically we're over half-way to survival and it's only October. Chuck in the muck that is Villa, Bournemouth, Sunderland and Newcastle and we're not getting relegated. Mathematically we're not safe, but we're as good as safe. Teams don't go down from the position we're in. Surely no one would seriously moan on Saturday if we lost for doing our best to reach a major cup quarter final? Are you new to this place and this sport?
queensguardfox Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Would of Drawn Man City away, makes it a tiny bit better
goose2010 Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Would of been mightily pis*ed off with the draw if we had gone through!
jimmeh Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Fancy Middlesbrough to get to final. Nugent will be happy facing Everton
Tuna Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Had we gone through we wouldn't have had that number so all of you celebrating Hull's draw is not only pathetic but wrong as well.
Gerard Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Had we gone through we wouldn't have had that number so all of you celebrating Hull's draw is not only pathetic but wrong as well. Well I don't know if that's true or not but we wouldn't necessarily have had that draw due to the "butterfly effect". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect It made me feel better that Hull got Man City away regardless.
EverybodyDannsNow Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Had we gone through we wouldn't have had that number so all of you celebrating Hull's draw is not only pathetic but wrong as well. I'm pretty sure you're wrong?
Craig Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 We would have had that number. The first four were the Tuesday winners in alphabetical order, the last four were tonights winners in alphabetical order.
The Doctor Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Well I don't know if that's true or not but we wouldn't necessarily have had that draw due to the "butterfly effect". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect It made me feel better that Hull got Man City away regardless. We'd still have got that ball and who won would not have a knock on effect on the draw itself, so we'd still have got Man City away.
NewEnglandFox Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 I just watched Mahrez's penalty again and you know what, shame on Mahrez. That's 3 for 3 the he's done the stumble run up to low right this season. I think it's a little more than chance that the keeper went the right way, especially when before penalties the keeper can be vetted if a player fancies something. While I think it's a little much to say that penalty alone cost the game, he should have been smarter. The other 2: https://streamable.com/7m6u https://streamable.com/se1g

The other 2: https://streamable.com/7m6u https://streamable.com/se1g You're right to point that out but had he hit it low as he intended, the keeper would probably have not got there. Penaltys are cat and mouse, especially when it's a normal taker who has history. he's hit two down there so surely he won't this time? I could easily argue that. If he puts his next in the same place, that argues he isn't a comfortable penalty taker. He is playing the odds that if its firm and on the floor into the side netting, the keeper can't get to it. it's the most comfortable place for the left footer to tuck it. However, the natural takers don't look at the ball - they look at the keeper and his direction of weight at the point of impact and just place it the other side. If he stands quite still then he isn't going to get near either post so it doesn't have to in the corner. Balotelli is a great example.

les-tah Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Man city will walk away with this cup and they don't even care
The Railway Man Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Man city will walk away with this cup and they don't even care They do, they started a first team at Sunderland last round, virtually a first team last night.
artursteppe Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Over the years I have noticed that more panalties are missed by players who take a short run up, or who 'stutter' during their approach, rather than taking a decent run up and directing the ball at some pace toward their chosen target. I am not sure that the goalkeeper even knowing which way to dive should be able to make a save. Muzzy used to practise against one time England goalkeeper Tim Flowers and always hit the ball inside the post to the goalkeeper's right. I think he did miss one penalty for Leicester, but he scored from loads. Check out Gally in more recent seasons, no messing, very very effective. Dinking around is arrogant and dangerous, remember Kermy? Change your style Riyad, please!

Walking away from the ball before turning, running head down and smashing it. Give the keeper less time to think.
