bluesbrothers Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 I said 7th to 10th, but I think it's absolutely possible that we could end up with 55-60 points, which given the lack of any sort of breakaway at the top so far might be enough to squeeze a Europa League spot.
My Nads Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 The only teams that are better than us are Arsenal and Man City. No other team worried me at all. We can take 3 points of anyone that's for sure
My Nads Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 Oh yeah I think we will finish top 3. If you look back over 20 games we would still be top 3. Until we start losing, I have no reason to think otherwise.
Livid Posted 8 November 2015 Posted 8 November 2015 10/11th Went for the optimistic 7-10th Who thinks we're going down??
Bamba's Babes Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 8th. Predicted 12th preseason. The challenge is now to Christmas. If we're still in the top 6 we must strengthen!!
Oxfordfox83 Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 6th. Partly because we are so strong all over the pitch, even with Huth out of form, James to return, Inler, Benny, Shinji and possibly Kram to get better. I don't think we're going to struggle to keep this intensity up, and as long as we keep finding a way to put the ball in the net we'll keep winning games. Also partly because I think the top teams are horribly weak. Liverpool are very beatable, Spurs look blunt, United have no identity and Chelsea are tits all over the place. Arsenal always have a wobble in them, and Man City have yet to keep up a season of form. We are, as it stands, best of the rest along with Everton, and I don't think Top 6 is unreasonable. I'd put top 4, but don't want to get carried away...
EnglishOxide Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Top 4. I'm confident of getting a result against everyone but Arsenal and Man City. We may not be used to being in this position. The players may not be used to being in this position. But Ranieri is. He knows what it takes to keep getting points and how to set up tactically against the bigger clubs. Our defence may cost us in the end. But in our last couple of games we have certainly begun to tighten it up, and this is a good sign.
Bedford Fox Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 its great being at the top and we are playing some great football but we need to remember we still have arsenal away, utd twice, city twice, chelsea twice and liverpool twice. The only top four club we have really played is arsenal and we lost. Dont get me wrong if we carry on like we are going but lose these games i will be over the moon. I think 6th is achievable but will still settle for 17th.
Footballwipe Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Before our esteemed former leader left I predicted we'd finish 12th to a friend. I was wrong. We'll finish higher than that. Depite the fact results have shown we can challenge these teams, I am a little worried by the upcoming run after Newcastle. We should go on with absolutely no fear whatsoever against any of the "top" teams because there's nothing to be scared of, but it's about having the key players available. I can see us losing at least a couple over the Xmas period and then it's about retaining that confidence. The main thing when the fixture list came out was to make sure we'd managed to get a decent total before the end of this month. We've done better than that, we got a staggering total. I really hope when we're assured of safety we don't fall away badly. That Europa League carrot is dangling and I want it automatically so I'd want us to be going for fifth place. I don't think we'll get it, I'm going for a seventh placed finish, but the inconsistency of teams in that lower-top-half part of the table mean it only takes one more run in the new year and we'll fly up the league again. Widen the league like someone said earlier - top half by NINE points - and you see how well we've done. 40 points is still right but it's time to look beyond that, because survival is inevitable. It's time to push on.
Nick Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Whilst I'd love to dare to dream about European football of any kind.... Feet on the ground. 8th
Staffs Fox Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 To be honest I'd still be over the moon with a top half finish and 40 point by end of Jan/ early Feb, Where we are after our tough December will be a great indicator of where we stand, Don't get me wrong we've played well in our past two home games but they also could have gone the other way or at least been draws. After our astonishing bad luck from Oct-Mar last season has reversed and everything is going our way this year. Tottenham look decent, Klopp will sort through the shit in January and Chelsea simply have too much quality to be this shite forever. Everton are Everton and Southampton are very good also. To be in and around these teams in May will be fantastic. To finish above all of them would be the stuff of Legend (assuming United, Arsenal and City are 1-3)
Harry - LCFC Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Looking at the games we have left this year you realise we've probably had one of the easier run of games this season. We also rely heavily on Vardy and Mahrez who I can't imagine will continue to be as good as they have been. With that I mind I think it's unlikely we'll be in the top six when the season ends.
goose2010 Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Erghhh the amount of Sunday games we will have next season is going to be annoying
chapero82 Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Bunch of pessimists we are going to win the league!!!
Weller in Tights Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Did you not read my previous post? To finish 10th we would have to be as successful as Burnley were last season between now and the end of the season. According to last year's table to finish 10th (Palace 48pts) we would need 19th place form from last season (Burnley 33pts) 9th finish (Stoke 54pts) we would need 14th form from last season (Leicester 41pts) 8th finish (Swansea 56pts) we would need 13th form from last season (West Brom 44pts) 7th finish (Southampton 56pts) we would need 10th form from last season (Crystal Palace 48pts) 6th finish (Liverpool 62pts) we would need 9th form from last season (Stoke 54pts) 5th finish (Tottenham 64pts) we would need 8th form from last season (Swansea 56pts) 4th finish (Manchester Utd 70pts) we would need 5th form from last season (Tottenham 64pts) Need I go on? So to get possible Champions League we're going to have to be as good as Tottenham were last season starting from now. To get possible Europa League we're going to have to be as good as Stoke were last season starting from now. I like what you've done here. I'm going to revise my decision, I originally thought 7-10th. But I reckon we can definitiley emulate Stokes form for last season, so I'm now going for 6th.
The_77 Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 It all may depend on the health of Vardy. I think his body is going to fall apart by the end of the season, especially if he doesn't get a rest during international breaks. I think City can be outside challengers for a Euro spot-- IF Vardy stays healthy.

Newcastle was 5th with 19 pts and finished 15th with 39 pts.
Renart Posted 9 November 2015 Author Posted 9 November 2015 And, for a fuller perspective, Southampton was 2nd with 26 pts after 12 games last year and finished 7th with 60 pts. Newcastle was 5th with 19 pts and finished 15th with 39 pts. This is important. I do not think we will see a dip that will see us 'struggling' in the bottom half of the table, but I do think that Southampton is probably a good barometer. (7th-10th for me, and happy with that).
4everfox Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 I will not vote on this until January 1st after I've seen our performances against the "big boys". If we are still in the top four then I will say champions league or top six.
st albans fox Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 We have a tough run of fixtures till Xmas . However, the average position of those seven sides is 10th so we Infact have an average run to the new year. Win a few and lose a few. Try and end the first half on 35 points or more. Treat each game on its own merits
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 I will not vote on this until January 1st after I've seen our performances against the "big boys". If we are still in the top four then I will say champions league or top six. On January 1st we will have played more than 12 games though.
