weller54 Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 This would be more of a loss than loosing Vardy or Riyad Losing?
TheUltimateWinner Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Give him as much money as he wants, been crucial to our success so far.
MC Prussian Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Can't we just find another Steve Walsh in the phone book and present him to Arsenal as our chief scout?
yorkie1999 Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Its not Walsh, its one of the other scouts.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Would be worse than losing Vardy or Mahrez imo. So crucial to our success since 2008, let's hope they're talking our their arses as usual.
Gerard Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 I imagine there would be a lot more job satisfaction at Leicester than Arsenal for Steve Walsh. If he went to Arsenal then he probably doesn't recommend Vardy, Mahrez or even Kante. Ant player he recommends will have to be world class standard or nearly world class. At Leicester he can take a few more chances as our bar isn't quite as high as Arsenal's. He would be a massive loss and reading this article Ranieri has a good relationship with him and after signing Kante and obviously values his opinion and respects him as Walsh got his way over Ranieri in this one. If Walsh feels he has a free hand to bring in who he wants then that's half the battle to keeping him here. It's imperative we keep him as player recruitment is probably the most important thing at the club and you don't want to lose someone who excels in it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/12035910/Baby-faced-midfielder-NGolo-Kante-deserves-his-share-of-the-plaudits-for-Leicester-Citys-stunning-start.html
Mark Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Its not Walsh, its one of the other scouts. It'd be a massive shame to see another leave considering it's not long since Rob Mckenzie was poached by Spurs.
BrummieFOX Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 I know we're top at the moment but come on, a move to Arsenal would be a huge step up for Walsh. We can be bias all we want and say he's got something great going on here (which he has) but no one could deny him a chance to play for a huge club like that. I'd be gutted if he did go though and hopefully it's just a rumour.
Webbo Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 This is the thing with picking players based on stats. Everybody will be using the same program and chasing the same players. Does it really matter who's behind the keyboard?
MooseBreath Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Not really worried that he'll leave. What's he going to be doing at arsenal that he can't do at Leicester?
My Nads Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 So....anyone that shows any talent at all is going to Arsenal, Man U, or Chelsea? It's just London based media crap. It wouldn't surprise me if I read that Arsenal were going to put a bid in for our owners next month! Until the time when someone actually leaves I'm not going to worry about it.
Webbo Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Not really worried that he'll leave. What's he going to be doing at arsenal that he can't do at Leicester?l Live in London spending a vastly improved salary.

Does it really matter who's behind the keyboard? That's only the initial state though isn't it? It's how they identify any players that interests them, but then they scout them the proper way.
Wymsey Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 I've heard that he's settle here and wants to stay.
BrummieFOX Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 He's not a player. Ha, oops I meant work for. Same applies.
MooseBreath Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Live in London spending a vastly improved salary. He's in his 50's isn't he? The bright lights of London might not necessarily appeal to him. I doubt he's into the club scene. As for salary I'm sure we can match whatever arsenal offer.
Clever Fox Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Certain personal at a Club are priceless starting with the right manager. We got it right with Nigel and again with Ranieri. But in our case it's a package including Shaky and Walsh and the Science team. Clubs don't get it right very often which is why many struggle. The Club should pull out all the stops to keep the package happy. Then we can continue to go forward. I used to like Arsenal. It's like trying to steal someone else's homework without doing your own.
Foxymcoxy Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 If he goes what do we do? Promote from within? Get in a replacement? Remove the role and bring in a chief scout?
CosbehFox Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 This is the thing with picking players based on stats. Everybody will be using the same program and chasing the same players. Does it really matter who's behind the keyboard? But they aren't picked on statsPeople like Walsh will have a brilliant contacts books whether that be agents or people at other clubs. He's the kind of fella you can build a club around.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Steve Walsh off? http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/arsenal-eyeing-leicester-scout-steve-6992005 Hopefully the article is lazy journalism. I did hear that Ben Wrigglesworth, head of technical scouting at Leicester, was set to join Arsenal. When have you ever seen 'lazy journalism' in respected of back room moves? Add in the fact that there is other areas of the article that have clearly been looked into (such as the other moves a foot at Arsenal) you'd have to accept there is concrete interest from Arsenal and it's not surprising given what he's done for the club. That is sometimes the problem with "unexpected" success - people start looking at what you're doing a little more closely and try and steel/copy bits of it from you.

Heymister2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Posted 11 December 2015 Kingpower will match anything arsenal offer money wise! It's time to offer new contracts to all old members of staff!
