Everton away.. Next up.... Thoughts!

If we can keep Lukaku from scoring, I think we can win. Vardy is going to go on another run.

We need to win this. Remember we still need the points.

We are still in a relagation battle

Big question is what to do with Mahrez. Although he's been fantastic on the wings, especially on the right, Everton's habe big threats in wide areas, so I'd be tempted to have a more solid defensive option in front of our full backs.

If all of our midfielders were fit, maybe we could have employed Kante on the right, similar to what we did towards the end of the Chelsea game and pair Mahrez with Vardy - thus giving Stones two problems to contend with.

Thoughts?

I think we are a bigger threat from wide areas so we just carry on as usual and let them try and deal with our magic wingers.

If Morgan and whoever takes Huth's place and can keep lukaku in their pockets ala whinging ugly munter Costa then I feel we could take this 0-2 and keep our momentum going and all below us lose or draw then extra points gap ;)

As good as Everton's wings are going forward, they're terrible at defending. I think it balances out. This is a game where Albrighton and Mahrez's partnership will shine. Mahrez has been much better at defending since he was left out against Norwich. Keep him in, this isn't a park the bus scenario. We can beat them by outscoring them.

Happy with a draw from any of our remaining 2015 games.

We might see how Benny and Inler do after a proper induction, but King is tireless and I would prefer him to start, or at least come on early in the second half.

Was is a legend, but maybe getting a bit old.

Had this conversation before last nights ko. Tbh as well as they are playing and my head says I'd take a draw, I think these lot there for the taking and see us comfortably putting them to bed early. Tell you why, Lakarku doesn't handle physical centre backs and certainly won't like Morgan, Barkley will have Kante ( if Claudio has done his homework which I have no doubt) sat on him like a back pack (which again he won't have had or like) and I think King can do everything McCarthy can do yet add a near post goal. Take this into account and I've not mentioned mahrez or the boy. Maybe optimistic but don't fear these lot one bit

Happily take a point which would be a great result. I do think both teams will score so the key aspect of the game may very well be how we cope with Lukaku.

Deuofeu and Barkley will be closely monitored by Fuchs and Kante so I'm not too worried about them.

They are scoring for fun but of the 16 goals they have scored in their last 6 games 13 have come against Sunderland, Villa and Bournemouth. No reason to think we would defend as badly as them.

This could go in 4 threads but I guess I'll put it here.

I'm sorry but King didn't cut it for me. I don't think he's up to the task of replacing Drinky in a straight swap. Drinky is everywhere and touches the ball everywhere and is always involved in the play all of the time. King didn't get enough of the ball. Drinky is usually our touch leader and averages 67 per 90' and has eclipsed 80 touches 5 times. King had 26 touches in 74' which is 32 per 90' but averages 51 over the year. It led to Albrighton and Ulloa doing more in buildup play and took out the direct route to Vardy that we've seen many times. I love it when Albrighton brings the ball up the side but credible threats that we have more attacking options strengthen both types of plays.

I thought Inler looked good in his 20' but I especially like the long balls I've seen in Inler's highlight videos. I think that attribute will help us fill the gap better than King.

You realise King and Drinkwater are different types of players? King is better as an attacking midfielder, but we don't play a formation that suits him. King is our highest active goal scorer, he's not just some pleb. He would improve if he played more games. He's really just been coming on later in the game to calm it down and he's been surprisingly good at it. We've seen King for years and years, we know how he plays and what he is capable of. If he needs to cover for Drinky he will do a good solid job. I'd like to see him given a run up front he can do everything Shinji and Leo can do without the negatives.

Players aren't picked to fill the positions, though. The system Claudio has employed is employed because the players he inherited perfectly fit this system. Which apparently has Italian roots (www.si.com/planet-futbol/2015/12/15/leicester-city-premier-league-ranieri-vardy-mahrez-tactics-epl).

No not having that. You could easily argue the perfect system for Leicester when Claudio arrived was 3-5-2. It was this formation after all that helped our great escape. Leicester could easily play 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 too with Ulloa up top and Vardy and Mahrez playing off him. I would go as far to say that Leicester were actually a little short on out and out wide players for 4-4-2 when Claudio arrived with Albrighton, Mahrez and possibly Schlupp the only recognised wide players but this is the managers preferred formation so he has moulded the team to fit it.

Claudio has employed 4-4-2 at most of the teams he has managed and has continued with that here. I have to be honest and say I didn't agree with that when he first joined but there is no arguments at all that this formation suits us best right now. So back to my original point that even if you didn't agree with playing 4-4-2, based on our current form there is absolutely no way we should change it for the Everton game.

Need to treat it as we have every game this season, as one we can win.

They will be nervous, they are going to have the best team in the country running at them, they are facing the deadliest, most in-form, number 9 for fifteen years.... and.... have the most highly skilled midfielder in the country running at them, all supported by the most in form crosser of the ball.

If we go out early, fast and hard, as we have done all season....they will be sh*tting themselves :)

1-2 to the market league leaders

1-1 this fixture is a tough game to win....there will be goals. If other results go our way, we can still be top next week regardless of the result here.....happy days!!!!

This game is gonna be tougher than Chelsea. We'd do well to come away with a draw imo.

Everton seem to have talent in overabundance going forward and Barkley, Deulofeu as well as Lukaku are on fire - Koné should not be underestimated, either; it's their defense and goalkeeper Howard that need to be exploited for their weaknesses.

Baines has just recently returned from injury, so it's doubtful whether he'll already be available in his previous form and Stones and Funes Mori will have their hands full with Vardy around them.

Still, it's going to be a tight affair. I'd take a 2-2 draw.

no schlupp for 2 months..torn hamstring.

Oh dear... I can see us going again for that Carillo in Jan. He's been suspended by his club for not signing a new contract.

Looking at the league's top goal scorers, Everton have three players up there, Leicester have two, and Vardy and Mahrez have scored like three more than those three. Assuming they're all on form, it seems like it'll come down to the defences: if Benny or Was hold up in ours better than theirs holds up. With our form and team spirit better it's hard not to be somewhat optimistic.
