Everton away.. Next up.... Thoughts!

This game is gonna be tougher than Chelsea. We'd do well to come away with a draw imo.

They are the draw masters it will be a totally different game to Chelsea, They are not exactly destroying teams mid table with a lad that can score, I look at this game and see no reason we cannot win, what makes it so tough that we will be lucky to get a point?

We've lost once all season to a bang on form Arsenal side.  Looking at Everton's home results so far (2 defeats to both Manchesters; 3 draws against Liverpool. Palace. and Watford; and 3 victories over Chelsea, Sunderland, and Villa) and I see no reason why we can't come away with at least a point.  Logically you'd even look at those results and expect us to win but we all know football doesn't really work like that.

If I was an Everton fan I'd be looking at this as a chance to get 3 points. They've been creating plenty of chances going forward and have been a bit shoddy in front of goal. What I would be worried about from their perspective is that they seem to collapse after the first half if things aren't going well for them.

Considering they should have been about 5-0 up at half time on Saturday, I don't even remember them having a shot in the second half. I think it could be another second half master class from us.

It's been a while since we've had a trademark comeback, with Huth and probably Drinkwater missing we may not start the game at our best and could end up a goal down early on and then have to dig deep with a comeback to win 2-1 in the last minute.

Wes marked lukaku last season when we played a two. Will be the same again.

Lukaku will try and play on the other CB

Lukaku could have easily bagged a hat trick in the corresponding fixture last season. He squandered a dozen clear chances through poor finishing, but time and time again he wasn't closed down in the channels and was able to get behind our defence. The goal that eventually came was inevitable. Now ten months on, he's playing the best football of his career, converting his chances and like JV, is a nightmare to contain.

Saying that, Wes is a completely different player this season. I thought he was outstanding on Monday. My main question, which has already been raised on this thread, would Benny or Wasil be a better choice to come in for Huth? Both are very physical and under pressure can be prone to rash ill timed challenges. Saying that though, I thought Wasilewski was for the large part superb last season when he came in for Moore, (although more convincing alongside two CBs). Both of them, particularly Benny, looked solid against the Hammers in the League Cup, but Benalouane is more of an unknown, untested quantity. Much depends upon how they've appealed to Claudio in training - it's likely to be Benny. Be interested to hear more views on this.

Benny has been more involved in the squad, probably making him more likely.

Both teams have blitzing attackers and leaky defences (apart from their left backs whom are both formidable).

3-3

Leaky defence?

Not sure about that one - looking at our defensive record since Fuchs and Simpson have come in I think the number of goals conceded is relatively low...

With vardy, mahrez, lukaku and Barkley in fantasy football team I will take a 5-4 win for us. 3 for vardy. 2 for marhez and 2 apiece for the Everton players.

Especially as the only defender I have from either team is suspended.

Goals. Lots of.

Andros Townsend would be the way forward for a cheeky January loan as cover on the wing.

What about Dyer Nick? Does he go back in Jan?

We won't be getting a helping hand from anyone with ambitions of Europe in the Premier League.

Imagine if we beat Spurs by a point to 4th place because of Townsend's efforts.

Agree entirely.

Personally, who would you prefer to see?

Kasper

Fuchs Morgan Wasyl Simpson

Mahrez King Kante Albrighton

Ulloa Vardy

Bring Okazaki on around 70 minute when they are starting to tire.

Very difficult game, certainly expecting some goals for both sides. We are going to have a problem with Lukaku.

If we are on top of our game, we will get something. If we play how we did first half v Newcastle, we will loose. id take a point.

No chance of a 0-0. Everton's defence is terrible.

Yeah, they'e conceded just one less than us. We've scored 5 more, too. There should be goals in this game.

I'd start Okazaki for how he gets in the opposition faces. He will drop deep and put pressure on the likes of Barry.

The atmosphere at Goodison Park is at times woeful. If we start well, they will get on the backs of the players and efeft their rhythm.

Will be interesting to see how we cope without Huth. I would personally prefer was, never let us down when he played last season. Can't wait for this. 1-3

I like Everton as a club, decent fans as I recall and they also have a very good squad. A good manager who I personally like, and I feel Martinez comes across well in interviews from what I've seen of him. A point would be decent, although 3pts would be superb.

Joseph Dodoo recall?.....

Coincidentally his loan ends this Friday however Bury are playing Friday night.

But we still have Dyer. It's not like we don't have any protection.

Playing the official fantasy football this year - I've had to play the same team all year under new rules with my mates ( too much whinging about copying each other with transfers in seasons gone ) so until jan transfers i've been stuck with howard and stones since week 1. Obviously everyone knows this who has the ability to read and watch motd but Stones has got me **** all points this year, same with Howard, always 1, 2 or 0, probably once got my 6/7 for a clean sheet. Point being their crap at the back, they get exposed pretty quickly, although they have just got leighton baines back so might be a bit stronger now. Both teams good going forward but we've tightened up a lot at the back in the last few games, an area where we were lacking, think we'll clinch it 3-2 :D

Oh and I'm just happy I picked Vardy and Mahrez in my FF team :) That's why I'm top of our private league !
