AKCJ Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise when someone you rely on so much is out and you have to find someone else to step up and make an impact. I'm not saying this will definitely happen and there's a good chance we'll struggle without Vardy but it gives either Okazaki, Ulloa or Kramaric a chance to make a name for themselves. Okazaki has been crying out to play the Vardy role which he's done so throughout his career, you'd have doubts he can do it as effectively but you don't score 10-15 goals in the top division of Germany for several seasons without being able to lead the line well. Likewise, Ulloa hasn't really got going this season. He's looked an absolute slob at times but last season he was immense in patches and can soon find form so we shouldn't be too distressed yet. Kramaric is the gamble, the lad needs a miracle here by the looks of things but it happens in football. I'm not sure his game is suited to our philosophy hence why he's barely played but if he's been working hard at developing and is given a chance then you never know. It would be delightful if he could at least make an impact that propels him in to more matchday squads and could be useful off the bench. He is different from our other attackers and his control is second to none, I look at the Bournemouth game and can't help but feel that composure and twisting and turning he does in and around the oppositions box might have been ideal during those last 30 minutes when everything else was leading to frustration. Spot on. The 3 strikers you've named are not at a Premier League club via fluke. They've been outperformed rather than being awful and the incredible form of Vardy and Mahrez has lofted us to another level. Lets see if these lads can follow suit. Here's hoping...
kingcarr21 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 This is the perfect time for Vardy to have a rest and miss the least amount of league games as possible. I wouldn't rush him back for the league game vs Spurs. Kramaric will want to perform well to put himself in the shop window if he doesn't want to stay so why not give him a chance to start vs spurs in the cup with Ulloa alongside him and see what happens. Rest Okazaki for the league game
Monsell1976 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 We rely on vardy and mahrez for goals, this is a chance for the other strikers to get some goals, and get a bit of confidence, I haven't got much confidence in them to get them, but let's hope. Time to get a striker in who can score at this level, Leo has looked a shadow of the player of last season, Okazaki has proved wanting at this level. We will have time without vardy, not just these few games, we really need someone who can fill the hole left.
EGBFitness Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Been reported on Sky that it should be between 7-10 days and should be available for next league game against Spurs. I know this sounds ridiculous but to read the injuries the guys playing with week in week out proves to me why he wouldn't leave this club (especially in Jan) Minor groin problem, broken wrist, ankle problems and obviously with his virus over Xmas. How drugged up/pain killers is he taking before every game? but if you didn't care about the club/team your playing for I don't think you would put that much demand on your body when he could of easily sat out easily 4/5 weeks picking up his wages. The guy is a legend and he loves Leicester City.... Official!
Number 6 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Would have missed the cup game anyway and they expect him to be back for Spurs so not sure why we've needed to make the news public?
Harry - LCFC Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Would have missed the cup game anyway and they expect him to be back for Spurs so not sure why we've needed to make the news public? Don't why you're confused about it. It's standard practice to announce an injury, regardless of whether it's thought the player will play in a particular game or not.
les-tah Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 assume if he didn't have the minor surgery now there could of been a risk come the summer it could of been a bigger problem and could of affected his chances of making it 100%.
Arkie Bennett Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 I'm concerned that the suggested two week absence may be ambitious. I'm no medic, but two weeks sounds optimistic for any intrusive surgical procedure.
ScouseFox Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 we are so good at footy we even choose when our good players get injured

I don't know about that, i had me bollocks snipped and was fine a week later, and surgical procedures don't come more intrusive than that.
Footnote75 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 What kind of groin surgery can you recover from in two weeks or less? Some kind of laser procedure? Sebaceous cyst?
fuchsntf Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 I don't know about that, i had me bollocks snipped and was fine a week later, and surgical procedures don't come more intrusive than that. So Thats why your posts are so high-pitched... .

I can't help but think how is that going to work. Yes he scored 15 goals last year but if you watch them, someone else did the work for most of them and he just had to put the ball in from less than 10 yards out. Jamie for the most part has to make his own chances. Half of the time Riyad has to make his own chances. Very rarely did Shinji last year and 0/3 this year make his own chances. I'd like to think our team can play to suit the style of our strikers but I can't see him getting that kind of service to get to 15 goals like he did last season. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKN3ZmrL0yM

Shitji is a box striker and feeds of passes for short movements and shirt distance shots. However the Bundesliga is not as good as the Prem either, he may be good at chasing shadows but isn't clinical enough.
johnny the fox Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 As long as the scalpel don't slip he will be alright...or come back as a woman..........will still love the guy / girl...
weller54 Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 As long as the scalpel don't slip he will be alright...or come back as a woman..........will still love the guy / girl... Janey vardy?
CharlieCharles Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Kram to start at Spurs cup and league. If he is poor then sell him. 180 minutes to save his Leicester career.
volpeazzurro Posted 4 January 2016 Posted 4 January 2016 Deluded? Says the man who can't stop promoting our youth setup even though we've hardly seen any real good talent come through lately... I'd rather give Kramaric the nod in the cup in Vardy's place because he's got a similar stature and playing style (sauf the relentlessness and speed, mind). I agree he's been frustrating to watch at times and we're nearing make-it-or-break-it time, but I have hope still and believe he's not been given the chance to show what he's really made of under Ranieri. Neither Ulloa nor Okazaki have pulled out any trees this season as they have been equally wasteful or irritating on the pitch, they do however possess more experience on a top-league level. I agree with this and Vardy needs a rest although he wouldn't admit it. He important for the next 40 points that Mr Ranieri has requested. Krameric may have been frustrating but we need to know once and for all if there is a player in there, so let's just play him in his favoured position preferably with Okazaki for me. He desparate to play and wants to get into the Euros. What have we got to lose? At worst we eventually once and for all see that it's not going to happen for him here.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 5 January 2016 Posted 5 January 2016 He has played further forward a couple of times yes, although admittedly not enough for us to make a completely fair judgement I suppose. But what we can judge him on is how he has played so far. He isn't strong on the ball at all, he is constantly getting pushed over or falling over. Isn't a particularly strong dribbler or passer. And doesn't seem to be prolific in front of goal. Of course it's harsh to judge him on goals given his main role in our squad, but he wasn't particularly prolific before joining us either. Ahh, I didn't pick that up, I thought he hadn't played there at all. I've been hoping for a miraculous transformation in the no 9 role. He certainly is/was prolific for Japan, but I guess the opposition is often pretty limited. The thing about Shinji, for me, is that he uses most of his energy pressing, which is good for the team, but not for him. I think he may well be a decent enough finisher inside the box, given some confidence, but I haven't seen him in that situation very often.
