Lots of negativity and suggestions of wheels falling off and bubbles bursting and players off form. So a simple question, if we beat Stoke on Saturday will we be "back on track" and all forgiven?

It'll depend on the performance more than the result - whether we go back to the high pressure attacking mentality or if we sit back and hope for the best

100% this. Not necessarily done anything to be forgiven for as we're still in a fantastic position. Performances need to come back

The negativity will stop when we stop playing this really negative football. We are not good enough to pass it around constantly and keep possession. We are not Barcelona. What we do well is playing a fast counter-attacking game and ultimately scoring more than we concede. Its no coincidence we have played wank since we stopped attacking. For example, playing Ulloa upfront on his own is just ridiculous.

No, we just gave away one of our best chances of ever winning a major trophy.

Whilst it's frustrating getting knocked out of the cup I find it hard to be annoyed for too long considering how well we're doing in the league, the performance was the hardest thing to take and it shows that our squad depth isn't actually as great as some thought, myself included.

From now on though we only have 16 games of the season left so we really have no excuses for lacklustre performances, we have less games than those around us with a sole focus on the league, hopefully Ranieri has seen that we need some additional players to push on and we can play a more balanced game instead of overly attacking or overly defensive.

Bit over the top don't you think? Spurs in the third round was hardly our best chance of winning a major trophy 'ever'

Don't think we really had the depth of squad to win the FA Cup and sustain our Premiership challenge...and I think Ranieri perhaps makes reference to that in his remarks on how long Spurs have been building.  As for the Stoke game, reaction will depend on the way we play.

We beat a really good Spurs side with an essentially defensive display but that result had merit because Spurs were always going to be hard to contain and we did marvellously well to limit such a dangerous side and so many capable individuals to so few chances while still making a few of our own.

Against Villa it was never like that. We conceded ground for no reason  and failed to take the penalty that would surely have settled the issue at 2-0, going on as many as we'd liked if we'd played controlled but ruthless football.

Instead our increasing lack of ambition gradually gave Villa the belief they might save the game.

We in turn did nothing but use the kind of spoiling tactics which only encouraged Villa to attack with even greater commitment - knowing there was no risk - and to the point where an equaliser looked inevitable.

Not Sure there's anything to forgive. We are 2nd in the prem and got knocked out of the FA cup. We certainly dont have the squad to challenge for both.

Now if they sold Vardy and Mahrez this transfer window, that would be another matter

Ever?!

Wycombe anyone!?

Ok then for quite a while, as someone else alluded to the best chance since Wycombe, Colchester away for a place in the Quarter Finals with probably our best ever squad, it was a huge chance, we might have lost anyway but to just give it away in the way we did was extremely disappointing.

At least we had a first team out against Wycombe, although I'd still say our current team is better than that one.

Spurs ended the game with pretty much their first team on the pitch, we probably had three on.

The only people that should be looking for forgiveness are the morons on here acting like this is the worst thing that has ever happened ever, and no they shouldn't be forgiven they should have their knee jerk reactionary twaddle tattooed to their stupid fat faces.*

*Not all of them will have fat faces but I bet some of them do.

They really didn't.

I think the negativity stops as soon as people see Claudio realise negativity gets us nowhere.

Well, but for Mahrez missing two pennos and a dodgy one given against us it would have put us four points clear and still in the cup. Fine margins and all that.

Great opportunity to get momentum and the buzz back with a win this weekend.

Stoke are a good side and it will be a tough game but perhaps that's exactly what we need and a win against them will be a huge confidence booster.

I still think we will see our old selves back and a confident 2-0 display. I think they are very talented but I can see Vardy especially returning to some form and causing them problems.

If we do lose though, I am avoiding this forum for a week!

In any other season the last seven games would have been seen as a success:

Home draw with Man city, narrow defeat at Anfield, solid if uninspiring away point at Villa, robbed of a deserved Cup win at Spurs, and in between a fantastic away win at White Hart Lane. Is all that so terrible?

One slightly disappointing result was the home draw with a very under-rated Bournemouth side, and last night’s defeat of our reserve side in a Cup replay that we weren’t actually that bothered about.

What’s to forgive?

What I want to know is when did (some of) our fans start thinking and acting like ungrateful and bitter Newcastle United fans??!

I would much rather a poor performance and a 1-0 win than a great performance and lose say 4-3,

It's results that matter, performance is irrelevant if we win imo,it's not pre season

Sixth round is the quarters, fifth is last 16?

Anyone that thinks there's anything to forgive is ****ing retarded. We're second in the league. Ranieri is already the best manager we've ever had. Literally.

Bournemouth - poor performance against 10 men where we shouldn't be relying on a penalty to get us the win.

Villa - Missing the penalty turned the game, but we still should have had what was needed to subdue Villa and go on and see out the victory. Taking Shinji off at 60 minutes was a v poor, negative decision, and basically showed we were happy to defend for the rest of the game.

Spurs - End to end cup game that could have gone either way up until the Dyer 'handball'. Their pen was BS though and we should by all rights have gone through.

Its not as fine as you make out, IMO.
