Whats gained from saying that to the press?

 

Usually, nothing. That's why I think we have a deal almost agreed with a striker already. He seemed very confident. Makes sense too as we need one urgently, not in 2 weeks time. Announcement early next week I hope!

Man city will not let us have dzeko for the rest of the season, nor sell him to us before the summer

I honestly believe we have a deal done for someone. Otherwise Claudio wouldn't have made such a statement.

I thought he'd signed a permanent deal at Roma? Man City wouldn't have a say surely?

He's at Roma. 4m euro loan then they signed him for 11m and he's not sounding like he's loving it in Italy

REMY 100% for me but not sure Hiddink will allow him to leave in this window. Not like they need to save money or care about keeping players happy. They would probably prefer him to sit on the bench with them until the summer, than risk not having enough striking options in their relegation battle.

 

Long is a no go after just hearing Koeman on SSN.

 

Milik or Aboubakar seem like good options from abroad.

 

No thanks to Puncheon. Goal scoring record is terrible. 

 

We need a goal scorer above anything else.

 

Agree with this 100%.

 

And in terms of needing a goal scorer, I'm pretty sure we just sent someone with a previously excellent record to Germany somewhere  :whistle:

I totally agree with the Dzeko idea. I mentioned him earlier in the January wish list thread as a possible option to sign. Although I'm not sure he would move from his current club to join us, or maybe he would I don't know really.

But he has been in the BPL before, proven to score goals at this level and has overall experience of playing in the league. I've always rated him to be honest, came across as a quality skilful player to me.

Well he gave us a clue by saying he wants a striker that is willing to do tonnes of running, like shinji and vardy, any on that poll renowned for work rate?

Sorry - just checked and dzeko is officially a Roma player - they activated their option to buy in October. Originally it was a season long loan with option to buy at the end.

anyway - he isn't the type of player Claudio would want here. Not enough effort off the ball.
