stripeyfox Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 It's always about me. Everywhere I goooooo. Are you my wife???
StanSP Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 I know they were going to be moved but a bit of variety wouldn't hurt. Four games at the same lunchtime kick-off? Why couldn't we have a couple of Saturdays instead? I agree, the volume of fixtures isn't kind. But this is Sky we're talking about! I'm certainly happy that none of them have gone to Monday!!
Bayfox Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 As long as it is a joint contract with all clubs, I do not see this happening. Some years ago, a couple of the bigger clubs (I think Manchester United were one) explored the possibility of selling their own TV rights to Sky (or whoever). Basically if you were a United fan you'd have brought a Sky Manchester United pass and you could have watched all of their (home) games whenever they were played, including 3pm Saturday. Effectively a TV Season Ticket if you will. But other clubs were of course not so keen and the idea was dropped. So Sky don't show 3pm Saturday games as it is believed it would negatively affect the attendance at other games. That certainly wouldn't be true in my case - I wouldn't not go to watch Leicester v Norwich in order to stay at home and watch Spurs v Arsenal but maybe it has a knock on effect further down? But that's why we have collective rights, if we every move away from that, we get Barca, real madrid style deals and the rest of the league is gash.
stripeyfox Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 But that's why we have collective rights, if we every move away from that, we get Barca, real madrid style deals and the rest of the league is gash. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't for a second saying we shouldn't have collective rights!
Osavo Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Absolutely fuming about this. Not sure I'll be able to get to any of these now. Was expecting one or two on a Sunday but this is an absolute joke. Thanks a ****ing bunch sky.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 given the situation and what might happen no-one should be using 'it's a Sunday' as an excuse for a shite atmosphere from now on. Crowd should be up for it regardless, particularly at home. Right on RF
stripeyfox Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Fair point, suppose the closest example I could give is that if Sky said to the ECB move a test match from Mon-Fri so it didn't clash with the football in August the ECB would tell them where to go. I think this will only get worse, I can see a day where the Premier League sells to 3/4 channels rather than 2 and we have 6/7 matches up for grabs over a four day period Fri-Mon. I think next season there will be 1 x Friday match, presumably 2 x Saturday, 2 x Sunday and 1 x Monday each weekend! So in a weekend round of 10 fixtures you've got at least a 50/50 chance of it being moved from 3pm Saturday and a much higher chance if you do well!
AyewJoking Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 May as well rename it the Sky Premier League. Sky have had tv rights ever since the begining of the league so as the sport has become more popular/lucrative its no surprise the fixtures are in this state. It doesnt affect me because i dont go to any games but putting myself in the shoes of all those that do, actually makes me angry.
foxfanazer Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Stupid comment mate. Make stupid comments, get stupid responses.oh bore off with your holier than thou attitude. Your response made no sense anyway. How was I blaming anyone? Grow up
Harry - LCFC Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 oh bore off with your holier than thou attitude. Your response made no sense anyway. How was I blaming anyone? Grow up If you post comments to get a reaction I don't think you can complain when you get a negative reaction.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 oh bore off with your holier than thou attitude. Your response made no sense anyway. How was I blaming anyone? Grow up Telling me to grow up when you make a shitty sarky comment about the Arsenal protest.
ramboacdc Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Won't be a popular post but I still don't lay the blame on Sky, they are only exercising the power they were given. The Premier League is to blame, the ECB would never allow Sky to dictate Ashes dates, Wimbledon would never allow the BBC to tell them what day the matches are played on. No other sport sold itself to a TV channel like this one. They gave away everything for $$$ - they take all the blame for me This may be the first time me and matt have agreed on something.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Unfortunately the more exposure and popular you become the more they want to show your games... it is a joke but money talks that is for sure
Neil_LCFC Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 We knew some would be moved but not all, and to sunday as well. Saturday lunch on BT or the 5.30 saturday game on sky amongst it wouldn't have been as bad as this load of shit. Only just better than all monday night.
kingfox Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 We are in the mix for the title, of course they were going to show us a lot. Deal with it

Take the Sunderland game - anyone travelling by rail can't get into Sunderland until six minutes after kick-off, and even then it means travelling from Leicester to London St Pancras to get a train from King's Cross to Sunderland! Any of the other three TV slots that weekend would at least give rail users a fighting chance of getting to the game on time. Just a little bit of thought towards the matchgoing supporters from all parties involved in the tendering/scheduling process would see switches like this received much better.

davieG Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 My son has a ST and there is no way he can go to games on a Sunday.
AyewJoking Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 thhinking back to the arsenal game, did the proposed first 5 minute boycott actually happen?
Voll Blau Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 thhinking back to the arsenal game, did the proposed first 5 minute boycott actually happen? Around 100 or so remained in the concourse.

SystonFox Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 man united, arsenal, chelsea and liverpool are on tv 90% of the times towards the end of the season. this is just what its like to be huge

Not true, when channel 4 had the test match rights the matches started earlier so that Hollyoaks could retain its 6.30pm slot.
