And We're Safe!

So a point last night confirmed that we will be in the premier league again next season - that's according to the BBC, I haven't done the maths myself.

Now, I don't ever think this has been in doubt really.

But how many of you thought we would be in trouble this season under Ranieri? I did! I thought he was washed up, I thought he was finished in football. How wrong was I. No matter what happens from here on out, what a fantastic season this has been.

Where did you expect us to finish the season back in August?

It's true. Villa can only get a maximum of 46 points. Norwich and Sunderland can only get 54 points, so there are 3 clubs who cannot finish above us now.

I thought we'd really struggle this season, like a lot of people did. Whatever happens for the last 10 games, it's been a truly incredible season for us, and I couldn't be more happy to be proven wrong.

- 1st Team to score 50 in the league

- Safe with 10 games to play

- Top goal scorer in the league - who also now holds a Premier League record

- 3 points clear on the 2nd March (when writing this post)

- Has a 24 year old DM who is in his first season in the premier league who has won the most tackles and most interceptions in the league (and apparently Europe!)

- Our 'bubble' still hasn't burst!

Don't wake me up I'm not ready to get up yet!

that may not be true by the end of the day.

But to add to that on SSN they said that Kante has the most interceptions In Europe

I must admit as I was queuing to leave the ground last night, it did dawn on me that we were now mathematically safe,

Of course we've known really since October we'd be ok and it's been a 99% certainty since December but to be mathematically safe with 10 games to go is almost unheard of in any league due to the 30 point swing which can (albeit unrealistically) happen.

I'll admit I had us down for 11-14th finish

I predicted us to be 19th, with only Watford finishing behind us.

Now I normally hate being wrong, but this time I couldn't be happier :D

I put a ton on us to get relegated, (mainly as it would have meant a free season ticket in the crap that is the championship) best waste of £100 EVER.

*17th.

That is going to be some monumental fall from grace for that to happen. Almost as unrealistic as being bottom for most of the season, escaping relegation and then topping the league 12 months later!

There is only one way to describe that table - congested.

I'm on record on here predicting us to finish 10th for the spurious reasoning that each year somebody unexpectedly mixes things up so why shouldn't it be the team who finished the previous year with CL qualifying form, fully expecting I'd be shown up for the naive optimist I was in the face of so much negative opinion on here saying we'd only just survive again.

In all honestly I said we'd finish 13th pre season. I didn't think we'd get relegated or necessarily be in a relegation battle even, I just felt Ranieri's appointment could have the potenial to contiune to make us a steady Premier League outfit, but in fact he has done a lot better. The current group of players have had a season's BPL experience and with CR's tactical knowhow, the season has just worked perfectly with these two aspects.

Thought we'd be in a real battle for relegation. In my defence this was before I knew N'golo Kantè existed

Surely  after the finish we had  you expected mid table
