Inler fails to make Switzerland squad

I do feel for him. However, if we do quality for the Champions League (which is looking likely), he may play a good role in next season due to the amount of games there will be not only in the Premier League, but in Europe. I rate Inler, he's a very talented CM/CDM and I still like him being part of the squad.

The bottom line is Inler struggled to adapt quickly enough and Kante (who Claudio thought was going to be garbage, hence why he signed Gok in the first place) and DD cemented their place and have been incredible since.

Shame!.

Just hasn't had the chances to prove his worth with us really. But just one of those things, no way he's going to oust Drinkwater or Kante.

Perhaps he'll get a chance or two from off the bench now King is injured?

Not injured, he has a sickness bug.

He's only been omitted from the upcoming two friendlies against Ireland and Bosnia, let's see where we are in May/June.

This was my first thought. Who's to say their Manager won't like what he sees in the friendlies and decides to stick with the tried and trusted Inler for the Euros? Might be clutching at straws but we just don't know yet. Hope his international career isn't over at just 31...

Long lasting bug!

he is omitted from the Welsh squad because of it

Given that they are missing bale and Ramsey for the friendly, must be pretty severe. Hope no one else has caught it!

Is Was he not the captain for Switzerland aswell?

Oh dear.

Mind you, if Rooney wasn't playing Woy would still take him because 'he's the captain'...he basically said this the other week on MOTD.

In 'our' defence I don't think we're to blame, likewise with Kramaric, when Inler has been given his chance he's not took it, he's been poor, granted he's not been given many chance, but when he's been given the odd chance he's not set the world alight.

I can understand both Kramaric and Inler might need a run of games, but other's have kept them out, so when opportunities are few and far between when you get that 10 minutes off the bench or you get the cup game start, prove yourself, give the manager and fans question, take your chance!

I've got nothing against him, I'm sure he's tried his hardest. But the fact is he hasn't looked Premiership quality at all. He started a couple of games at the start of the season and he just looked out of his depth. As soon as he went off in those games we improved markedly.

He is probably a decent player technically in a slow paced match, but it's obvious he's not up to the pace of English football. For his sake and ours we should let him go at the earliest opportunity and replace him with someone who will challenge Drinky and Kante for a starting place or at least be able back up.

Have to feel sorry for him. He is a quality player that has been the victim of circumstances. Nothing against Gokhan who has kept his head down and battled for a place in the side like a good professional.

If he lost his place in the Swiss euro's side that would be bad for him, i think we will definitely look to move him on

This.

You only have to look at his Twitter to see how much of a good professional he is. He's hardly had a sniff of football since the turn of the year but still looks happy to be part of the team and supporting the team.

Crikey, some of you lot on here are so heartless. It is really rare to see a footballer giving his whole support to the squad when he is not playing much. It will be interesting to see if it is same story if we were battling against relegation for an example though.

It's strange people on here seem to take pleasure when it doesn't work out for players. Same with Kramaric.

Switzerland won't take their captain whilst we'll still bring Wilshere in on a stretcher

Like i've said Woy isn't their manager, their manager has balls common sense.

When he is partying in Las Vegas with a PL winner's medal around his neck, I don't think he will be too disappointed about this.

It really boils down to what he was told before he signed, if the club have said you will have to earn your place then its not anyones fault the way the season has drawn out, Kante and Drinkwater have been unreplaceable

I'm sorry but that statement is ridiculous

I feel for him, don't think it's his fault. It's been a bad move for him. He's not kicked up a fuss so no hard feelings for us.

We don't have enough CMs to let him go.

Feel bad for him. Seems a nice guy and a model pro. But how the hell did Senderos get in the team but not Inler lol does Senderos even have a team.

Too good for the Championship still imo.

According to wiki he's now at grasshoppers and hasn't made an appearance yet

Credit to him for his persistent attitude despite not featuring in many matches this season. If we keep him, like I mentioned earlier I think he could still have a part to play next season due to the amount of games we may have to play.

He came here thinking we'd more than likely be in a relegation battle, therefore guaranteed a fair share of gametime.

Unfortunately for him its been completely the opposite.

What a stupid thing to say, and disrespectful. Despite the fact he's probably won numerous Italian cups etc and might win the league with us, captaining your country at the Euros is a huge career-highlight and if he doesn't get the chance to do so he'll be gutted, as would anyone. Hope he gets to go as has been extremely professional during his time here. Not saying this is you (rather in general) but it is odd that some seem to enjoy mocking some of our players not working out here. Same with Kramaric

It's football. Not all players can be on the pitch at the same time. The way to get on the pitch is to perform better than the other squad players, wait for the need for a plan b, or wait it out for some one to be tired/injured. He's a decent player and seems like a nice guy. He can't be annoyed that he is being kept out by a midfield bossing the league.

Players know they are not guaranteed game time and they have a short career. They get paid a small fortune for this. He came to us, got a pay increase, signing on fees etc. Hardly a hardship post.

So I am pretty sure he is a little disappointed at not making the squad for the friendlies, but I'm sure he is pretty happy generally.
