ScouseFox Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 uh oh. who'd have thought in august that the only one of our centre mids not going to the euros would be inler
Gerard Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Amazed at that, he ran the show at the start of the season against England. I thought he was there captain and you'd have thought that they would at least of had him in this squad to see his level.
weller54 Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Shame!. Just hasn't had the chances to prove his worth with us really. But just one of those things, no way he's going to oust Drinkwater or Kante. Perhaps he'll get a chance or two from off the bench now King is injured?
RowlattsFox Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 At least some countries have he balls to leave out players who aren't playing. He'll be livid though. Any chance of a loan to the top of the championship?
easilee Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 A tough test for him this, and a possible strain between player and club. Hopefully he is strong enough to stick with us and really take his chances when they do come. And they will. It must burn him though. We hopefully have Europa and Champions League next season. If we make top 4 next season, again we'll have European fixtures in 2017/18. He needs to make a real impression and his International call up will return.
TJB-fox Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 He has to leave now simple as that. Short loan to the end of the season to anywhere that will play him. Huge opportunity missed if he can't captain Switzerland in France. Poor Gokhan bet he's feeling sick
americanfox Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Not begrudging him anything if he's plain pissed, now. Reeks of mutual termination if we can't sell him over the summer, yeah?
MPH Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 I see this as all very tragic. He's a very good player but not alot of thought seems to of gone into the signing and how he would adapt to our system, and it seems to of backfired for him. He'll be thinking along the lines of this being a charming reward for showing loyalty to us.

Thracian Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 He's had chances and never genuinely impressed or taken command in a game despite a few trying to talk him up. Indeed, whenever he's played he's shown a worrying tendency to make the kind of mistakes that could cost us goals, even on his better days. What a contrast he's been to Kante who just seemed ready and focused on the job from the start. I thought Inler would be gone in the transfer window, if only to satisfy the European ambitions he seemed so concerned about. Who knows what the future holds for him now? I wish him luck but, considering the contract I'd imagine we gave him, he's not gone short in that department!
easilee Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Next season is a bit late to captain your country at the euros though. Shít you have a good point. Forgot he's 31. Bye bye Gokhan.
LCFC FOX Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Surprised he hasn't had a look in to be honest. I think if it wasn't for Drinkwater having the season of his life he'd be in the team
MC Prussian Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 He's only been omitted from the upcoming two friendlies against Ireland and Bosnia, let's see where we are in May/June. I wish him well and that he does get his chance, but if he continues to fail to make the squad or - low and behold - make the starting eleven at Leicester, I don't see why Petkovic would then want to even consider him for the tests against Belgium and Moldavia. EURO 2016 looks a distant dream now, nut never say never...
Nalis Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 They should still play him, he can be their Kyle Lafferty but in midfield.
AKCJ Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 It's not LCFC's fault that he's been shit. He's only got himself to blame if he doesn't go to France in the summer.
Donut Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Have to feel sorry for him. He is a quality player that has been the victim of circumstances. Nothing against Gokhan who has kept his head down and battled for a place in the side like a good professional. If he lost his place in the Swiss euro's side that would be bad for him, i think we will definitely look to move him on
Fox92 Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 It's not LCFC's fault that he's been shit. He's only got himself to blame if he doesn't go to France in the summer. He hasn't been shit at all though has he. Minimum playing time for a full International - a captain of a good International side - a player that has played over 100 times for clubs such as Napoli only shows how well Drinkwater and Kante have been. Inler is obviously a good footballer and I feel for him here.

Foxbythesea Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Feel bad for him, but it's the harsh reality of football unfortunately
lgfualol Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Feel bad for him. Seems a nice guy and a model pro. But how the hell did Senderos get in the team but not Inler does Senderos even have a team. Too good for the Championship still imo.

Sorry but I just don't buy that, he will have had the opportunity to impress in matches and training, maybe just maybe, and I know this will be hard to swallow for a lot of Inler's admirers he just doesn't deliver what was expected.
