Leicester City vs. Southampton FC post match thread 1 - 0

got a lot of time for southampton and koeman but he's thrown his toys out a bit with these comments. simpson was no way a penalty - arm down by his side, no intention and from point blank range so absolutely no grounds for a penalty. Huth's could have been just because his arms were a bit away from him but there was no intention again and it was at point blank range so it's down to the referee's discretion.

Either way, we had 5 or 6 gilt-edged opportunities and should have been out of sight in that second half, schmeichel didnt really have much to do thanks to a brilliant defensive display again

I reckon 2 wins and a draw will be enough for us to win the title. I don't think Spurs will come anywhere near 76 points. Arsenal will be runners up with 74 or 75 points. Having said that although we only need 76 points we will win it with over 80 points. Salute our City heroes!

Vardy's dive. https://media.giphy.com/media/xTiQyBzaHcrnra96Mg/giphy.gif

I missed this - what was the context?

Vardy barged a Saints player and he made a meal out of it (I saw the barge but the camera pans away before I can see how Saints player reacted)

Solid defensive display- we were not at our best up front.  Morgan MOTM all day long- I actually thought Simpson was not at his best today. It looked like he was allowing his temper to get frayed on occasions. I can see where Koeman is coming from- The referee can easily give a pen for both handballs even that both are accidental.

I would have been absolutely livid if the Simpson one had been given.

The Huth one I haven't seen back.

fair enough, not saying either were stone wall but its upto the ref on the day.

Well done guys, seen you play better and thought a draw Would of been fair, but you defended well and got the result.

You had chances which you should have taken and we had more of the ball and didn't create much.

Handballs - the reason Koeman is raging is because for weeks now penalties just haven't gone our way and it is getting beyond a joke now.

Trying to look at it as if I was a neutral, the Simpson one I wouldn't have given personally but seen it given, but the huth one was stonewall.

You can't be serious, what's he supposed to do about it? lol  Don't even try to pretend you wouldn't be raging if that was given against you.

I thought he was going to get himself sent off, looked a bit too hyped up.

I'd of raged over the Simpson one, but not huths.

Simpson wasnt a penalty, the ball was going to hit him mid torso if his arm wasnt in the way.

Huths was a penalty, and we were lucky again.  His arm had no right to be out there, even if the ball did hit it.

Stonewall lol

If Huth is quick enough to move his hands to the ball there then he should probably be Germany's number 1

Yeah .. you couldn't help saying something negative about Mahrez (as usual). Try to enjoy the win rather.

Hey, Matt. Praise where praise and criticism where criticism is due.

I'm enjoying the win, but that shouldn't detract from the fact that some of our internationals were very sloppy today, Mahrez and Okazaki mostly. Whether it was down to fatigue (travel) or lacklustre composure is anyone's guess.

Points ahead of 2nd place in their league:

Leicester City - 7pts

Barcelona - 6pts

Juventus - 6pts

Bayern Munich - 5pts

and it's widely accepted the premier league is the toughest top flight in Europe !

If that happens on the halfway line it's handball all day long and you no it

Just seen the goal again.

Thanks to whoever posted the link.

What a cross from Fuchs!

There have been no posts on FT about the need for a LB,as in previous seasons.

Best defensive performance of the season, the whole back four were immense & I'd easily give Simpson & Morgan 10/10. Simpson has turned into the unsung hero of this team, that piece of defending to get back & deny Mane, was one of the best pieces of defending I've seen at the KP, the whole stadium applauded it.

One negative thing though was the performance of Mahrez, nobody talks about his inconsistency, player of the season? No way, that deserves to be given to Morgan or Kante.

Out where? It was by his side. It's a perfectly normal position to be there, and unless you think only amputees should be defenders then his arm has every right to be there because there's nowhere else for it. People must be taking the piss to suggest there's even a slight shout there.
