Legend_in_blue Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Sour grapes from Koeman in the match report. Never a sending off, never a penalty, never a handball, jog on. If he wants to criticise the decisions against his team perhaps he should have gone full out for the Huth handball instead. Seen them given before and watching this back I think we got lucky with that decision. Still, a bit of luck, grinding out wins, a solid team display, it's what championship seasons are made of. Onwards and upwards!
ceredigion Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Whatever happens in the next 4 games now, we will go into the Everton game still in with a chance of winning the league. One more win will ensure that we can take it to the last game. But hopefully we will have wrapped it up by then. Don't know how many more of these 1-0s I can take.
bovril Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 It's just occured to me that we have qualified for European football through league position for the first time in our history. A quite remarkable achievement for everyone connected to the club.
Finnegan Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 I don't know why there's even talk about penalties. Huth and Simpson both have their arms by their sides and the ball blasted at them. If they're handball then literally all contact with the hand and arm must be and you take away intent entirely from the equation.
st albans fox Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Assuming it hasn't been asked earlier, when was the last time we kicked the 'wrong way' first half?
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Huth was closer to a penalty but it's not a stonewall by any imagination. It's open to interpretation and on some days a ref gives it and on other he doesn't. Pity for spurs fans we are lucky Leicester who love a long throw and hoofing the ball.
Vacamion Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Wanyama could have been sent off and Tadic spent his first 15 mins on the pitch trying to get in a fight. Pelle and others were up in the referee's grill a fair bit. Southampton, unexpectedly, had a bit of bite. You can see why they are challenging for Europe.

Wanyama SHOULD have been off blatant foul and Vardy was in
Bazly Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 91pts over the last 12 months, almost 20 points more than the nearest (Arsenal) opponent. The most consistent team in the league, by far.
Countryfox Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Wanyama could have been sent off . The rule is absolutely black and white clear ... If the ref doesn't send him off he shouldn't be sent off .... But the tw@t got it wrong !!!
The Doctor Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Wanyama SHOULD have been off blatant foul and Vardy was in Vardys touch was too heavy and it was breaking away to the CB - yellow was fair.
Webbo Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Is this like the England game last week where you're just saying ridiculous things to get a reaction? Simpsons movements were perfectly in line with someone running - arms going out in front of the body, then pumping back behind it to help propel him along - which is also what he was doing. You can't just dismiss what he's saying because you don't agree. Both pen shouts were at least debatable.
smr Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Amazing atmosphere, solid performance, another 3 points - we're gonna do this! Absolutely fantastic!!! Post match Filbert Fox and Kasper Vid:
Countryfox Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 No, but I can dismiss ridiculous things by pointing out the massive flaws in them - Simpsons wasn't in any possible universe a penalty, his arm is in a natural position for running, he's not moved it out to the ball, there's no intent to handle there or any way you could say it was deliberate, handball has to be deliberate. The game where you said the first half england dominated despite offering nothing and should have gone in 2-0 down... Don't act like a great performance once the subs were made meant the entire performance from 0-90 was phenomenal. This is the motion you make while running: You swing your arms for momentum. I'm with you Doc he was running and it hit his arm. No pen. They can slavver on all they like.
Donut Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 The rules on handballs are basically bollocks and need to be addressed. This "natural position" stuff is ridiculous. This phrase makes the vast majority of hand ball decisions dubious. Not complaining one bit, but the handball rule is an ass.

Say any contact with a hand is a penalty and you'd have teams just blasting it from 10cm at oppositions hands to win penalties.
Countryfox Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 How do you fix it though? Say any contact with a hand is a penalty and you'd have teams just blasting it from 10cm at oppositions hands to win penalties. The law is fine ... Intentional handball .... PEN. Easy. If we had a video ref to help the one running around on the pitch it would be even easier.
Donut Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 How do you fix it though? Say any contact with a hand is a penalty and you'd have teams just blasting it from 10cm at oppositions hands to win penalties. That would still be better than the referees subjectively giving every seperate decision. Penalties for handball are given and turned down on a whim. Handball in the box is a massively, massively flawed law.
Dan Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 Said after the Man City game we'd win the league and other than the Arsenal blip my confidence just gets that bit more and more stronger. We're now in a position where it would be actually quite embarrassing if we don't. It's just miraculous. I am convinced we will never witness anything like this again.

You'd get dozens of penalties a match if it were that easy - might as well just play red arse and be done with it if the aim of the game becomes to blast it as hard as possible at an opponents body part.

Little old Leicester, incredible. Been close to blubbing a few times this season and if the unthinkable happens recon I will be a mess. Dreamland.
Legend_in_blue Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 If it was the other way round, to call the first one is clearly nothing more than clutching at straws. The second one though, I'd feel hard done to if it wasn't given, although I'd understand why if it wasn't.

Webbo Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 How do you see Leicester doing next season. ? Me personally, I don't care. If we win the league and get relegated next year it'll still be worth it.
Clever Fox Posted 3 April 2016 Posted 3 April 2016 The Ref got both decisions spot on, neither where penalties. The Key piece of the rule is it has to be intentional. There's no way either Simpons or Huths where intentional. Simpson was just trying to get back and cover Kasper and Mane's shot was so close he never had time to react either way. I've looked at it a few times now. Huth's struck him on the back of the Hand, not where you'd intentionally strike the ball with. great result, not one of our better performances. Mahrez was clearly tired and I'm surprised it took CR so long to Substitute him.
