NewEnglandFox Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 Also, people calling for changes to the team when we have won 5 on the bounce are clueless. Ulloa looks OK when he comes on because Okazaki and VArdy have done all the hard work to tire out there defenders with tireless running. Ulloa from the start would not be as effective. I agree that Mahrez has been poor recently, but that's Mahrez all over, always has up and downs, but comes good at the right time. Team's isolate Vardy and Mahrez and dare Okazaki to be the difference. I hate to break it to you but it's working rather well for them. Mahrez hasn't adapted well to isolation and is still trying to take on those defenders. It's one thing to tire teams out, but in this case it's covering up our inability to create quality chances with him on the giving or receiving end. Okazaki's lack of an assist this season is very telling in that sense. Put Ulloa on and the space for Vardy and Mahrez will open up, not to mention he's much better at build up play and there are actually results. Not like when people talk about Shinji's supposed linkup play which we still don't have any results from.

Causes defenders to hurry up which in turn creates turnovers putting us back on the attack. He will definitely start v West Ham
Clever Fox Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 If I was to add another midfielder to stop payet, it wouldn't be King, not renowned for his combative defensive play. If Claudio was to add a midfielder, I would put in amartey, natural defender/ defensive midfielder, and has looked composed and good when brought in. Amartey is not a bad call either, I wonder though would he have know how for such an important game. Yes I agree King is not the most combative in midfield but between him and Drinkwater I think they can disrupt Payet enough. He also give us another real attacking threat going forward and has already scored against West Ham in the Cup this season. Maybe the answer is Inler. Just a thought.
Moksky Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 Why change our team for West Ham at home? We are top of the league, they have to come at at us, which will play into our hands yet again. There is no need to chop and change anything, and that has been the basis of our success so far. We need most of our players playing at the top of their game, can't have any passengers. They conceded 3 Saturday , let's get a grip of ourselves , if anything they'll be changing their side about for us, or at least their tactics. We can cope, and I was disgusted at some of the Mahrez comments around me yesterday at Sunderland, yes he didn't have a great game, but he is one player who can change a game. He can be frustrating , but also magical. 15 goals and loads of assists from his position is a fantastic return. We go again, be focused, resolute and we can score. I expect a 2 nil win. They have a tough fixture against united on Wednesday. I don't care what anyone says even though United were poor Sunday, you won't get an easy ride.
Munshi Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 No need for any changes, we've won five on the bounce. 1-0 for me, Kingy off the bench to score the winner. He loves a goal against West ham.

They keep losing!!! Who is trading a "tired opposition" with 20 minutes left for increased chances in the first 60-70 minutes?

Really don't what's happened to inler, not even making the bench, but could do a job.Amartey seems to have settled well, would fill the extra defensive cover, King would be more suited if we were chasing the game.
LJS Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 This lot aren't much to write home about away from home. They leak goals and we're good at shutting teams out. They'll come for a win, we'll exploit the space. Win.
Blackpool Fox 69 Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 West Ham are a good team, BUT, they are made for us, Kanté on Payet and the two big lads at the back will nullify Carroll, they are expansive and will leave gaps behind, I'm quietly confident on this one.
biggs Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 Easy to say, not easy to give examples PVR a match and see for yourself.
st albans fox Posted 11 April 2016 Posted 11 April 2016 The interesting comments on stopping crosses is that Claudio generally drives teams wide to put crosses in. We deliberately prevent teams coming through the middle (where we are generally a man light) by compacting in without the ball. if we did it against soton and pelle I expect we aren't scared of Carroll against wes and rob. and before anyone posts that we have conceded a lot of headed goals by percentage, that's not a shock given our tactics. looks like a good tactical battle but if they have a tough night Wednesday, that should tip it in our favour anyway.
TheSomersetFox Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Having to deal with Payet and Lanzini is going to be a job for Kante. I expect him to boss it.
z-layrex Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Hammers are quality this year, I honestly have no idea. Feeling a draw.
UPinCarolina Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Amartey is a nice shout as a sub, especially if the match is as much of a back and forth slugfest as I anticipate. We may need the fresh legs for a boost, like we did against Sunderland.
Hamstonian Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 I just get a feeling that scoring early in this one is going to be critical. That is probably stating the obvious, but nerves are going to eventually enter the equation. No matter how good Ranieri is at keeping the focus on the task at hand, the enormity of it will have an effect. Get a good first half goal and then have fun and play the game. Win this and I don't see a path for Spurs to catch up. The pressure builds on Spurs even if they win. If I were Ranieri I would threaten any player that gives up a free kick anywhere near the box. Make sure Carroll knows what Huth and Morgan's breath smells like and what it feels like on the back of his neck.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 What I seriously do not get is that people are suggesting/ thinking about us making changes to nullify WHU, incredulous! We are top of the league by 7 points. We've only lost 3 league games all season. We've won our last 5. We've not conceded in that 5. Ffs it's them that should be worrying about us not the other way round. I like West Ham and they have been playing decent football this year but I firmly believe we will have too much for them and need to change fvck all.
Callabinho Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 West Ham are literally THE ideal team to play...for us anyway. They attack in numbers like to get ball to Payet who likes to get the ball to the wide men and then to Carroll...it's the perfect game for us plenty of space to exploit behind their back four. Kante will ensure Payet doesn't get enough time on the ball to do his thing, and Carroll won't have it easy against both Huth and Morgan. Yes it will be tough but as mentioned West Ham are the perfect fit for us, it will be a cracking game.
SpacedX Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Very very tough game this will be Are you Yoda in disguise?
Ric Flair Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Carroll will probably get injured before Sunday anyway.
Dynamogoon Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Tough game this. West Ham are a good side. However, if it's an open game (which I think it will be as they like to attack) we can exploit the space on the break. Hard to call but we know how to win. Il call a narrow victory for us

Carroll won't have the easiest job against our center backs but we shouldn't invite as many crosses into our box as we usually.

I've got to say I'm not a fan of the idea of crosses raining into our box with that Neanderthal lurking with intent, say what you want about him he is absolutely unstoppable in the air.
