GaelicFox Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Spuds are worried Right call but http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3538664/Premier-League-switch-referee-picked-charge-Tottenham-Leicester-fan-title-race-hots-up.html
Steven Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Just what I had always thought. Spurs are in charge of the Premier League. The fix is in against us.
GaelicFox Posted 14 April 2016 Author Posted 14 April 2016 Just what I had always thought. Spurs are in charge of the Premier League. The fix is in against us. In fairness I'm glad he is swapped as he might felt obliged to be a bit soft on them
joshljones98 Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Kevin Friend is a Bristol City fan and when I spoke to him yesterday we were talking about this - he said he was not bothered that he had a Spurs game but understands how it may be perceived by the media because he is registered under the Leicestershire FA and therefore it is safer to be taken off the game rather than cause an uproar.
Ric Flair Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Hahahaa I would love it if the new ref gives Stoke a couple of really dodgy penalties.
MC Prussian Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 They still have to win the tie, regardless of who's officiating. Not that we're without any pressure, but the real onus is on Spurs. You could argue that even in the most desperate of scenarios, a referee from Leics or in its vicinity can't ignore the most blatant goal calls. Or to put a different spin on it: Swapping refs doesn't guarantee that the new man in black will hand out the right calls (in Spurs' favour).
StanSP Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Makes it even funnier if they don't win this match. One less excuse to use despite him not being a Leicester fan anyway.
EGBFitness Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Who's the ref that's on numerous occasions appeared to be celebrating Spurs goals!? Can we put a protest in place he doesn't officiate any of ours or Spurs games for the remainder of the season?
filbertway Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Makes sense. Weird that he was even given it anyway.
Itsthejoeker Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Who's the ref that's on numerous occasions appeared to be celebrating Spurs goals!? Can we put a protest in place he doesn't officiate any of ours or Spurs games for the remainder of the season? Mike ****ing Dean
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 He's not a Leicester fan, but who needs to actually know the facts before posting an article on the Mail Online.
Guest LCFC_World Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 A lot of games are decided by refs so this is disappointing... No but seriously if that's the reason then it's a disgrace, they sign a contract before starting their professional career and should be trusted.
Koke Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Kevin Friend did ref Norwich v Spurs back in January. Spurs won 3-0.
NZ_Foxile Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 And they're not photos of Kevin Friend in the article...useless Daily Mail
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 ...who else thought this was going to be a story of a person being ousted from a group of mates for a Leicester fan and replaced by a stranger?
ScouseFox Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 as much as it'd probably be hard to, seems mad they don't factor in "secondary" factors. yeah this ref can't referee leicester in case he's biased, but it's cool for him to referee the only team who can stop them winning the league. sure he won't be biased there. won't be an issue.
Larry_LCFC Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 So they are basically saying they dont trust their own referee not to be bias?
Out Foxed Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 my friend the ref hope they get a really contentious decision go against them. just for the hilarity of it.
smudger63 Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Kevin Friend did ref Norwich v Spurs back in January. Spurs won 3-0. He also did the Bournmouth v Arsenal game, the week before we played Arsenal, and failed to send off an Arsenal player for a 2 footed tackle early in the game, at 0-0!
Richard Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 ...who else thought this was going to be a story of a person being ousted from a group of mates for a Leicester fan and replaced by a stranger?I thought someone traded their mate for an Everton ticket
Finnaldo Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 So they are basically saying they dont trust their own referee not to be bias? 'Pressure from social media' So they don't want Spurs fans constantly whinging at them.
Leicesterpool Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 How do they know Friend is a Leicester fan, he could just be from leicestershire and could support someone else. *Edit just read the full article* Friend is actually done a few games. Surprised they've allowed this to happen. Bet they wouldn't have changed it for us.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Surely pretty much every fixture reffed can have an affect on the referees home county team.
GaelicFox Posted 14 April 2016 Author Posted 14 April 2016 ...who else thought this was going to be a story of a person being ousted from a group of mates for a Leicester fan and replaced by a stranger? That was the idea
