Parafox Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Currently for me, Mark Clattenburg seems to be at the top of his game. I thought he did well at Leicester/Swansea and last night in the Champions League he seemed very fair and restrained with just the right balance of allowing the game to flow and dealing with incidents.
stevelcfc Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenburg, takes control from the off. Explains all his decisions and does so in a way they crowd can see why he made the decision he made. Supremely confident in his own judgement meaning he doesn't dither and give half hearted decisions so the crowd don't start getting as frustrated. Very experienced also, ref'd at the top level and doesn't allow the occasion to influence him. Of course he gets decisions wrong, thats the nature of the beast while they have very little technological help but seems to get more right than wrong.
EnderbyFox Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenburg and Oliver are the best in the league imo. Atkinson, Moss and Mike Dean are all terrible
AKCJ Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 All referees make mistakes. But referees that compound their mistakes by getting nervous and twitchy and look to even things up need shooting. That is why Clattenburg is the best we've got. He looks at each incident in isolation rather than basing his decision on what has happened previously.
Bert Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Oliver is the best closely followed by Clattenburg. Dean, Atkinson & Mariner are ok. Sometimes control games really well but other times shite. Pawson, Moss, Madley. The less said the better.
The Railway Man Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenburg really did show up how bad Jon Moss was on Sunday.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenburg. Don't really rate any of the others. Last ref I remember respecting and liking was Howard Webb. And COllina of course is the GOAT. To be fair, best for the refs to fade into the background so you don't notice them or remember their name
stevelcfc Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Interesting article from the Independent on this today. Guess who's bottom. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/premier-league-referee-study-jonathan-moss-leicester-city-jamie-vardy-a7004621.html Original Article: http://you-are-the-ref.com/major-mistake-premier-league-every-four-games-shocking-result-ref-survey/ Graphs: http://you-are-the-ref.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/KMIs-v-Matches-Analysis.pdf
Fox92 Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenburg and Oliver - by far the best. Don't like Moss or Mason. Used to dislike Mike Dean but he's a decent referee under the arrogant attitude.
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Michael Oliver the ref at Old Trafford.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenburg and Oliver - The two refs I rate the highest.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenburg. Don't really rate any of the others. Last ref I remember respecting and liking was Howard Webb. This
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenburg is the only one who looks like he's played the game to a decent level.
Super_horns Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 The funny thing is Palace fans really hate him (Cattenburg) and fear the bloke being in charge of the FA Cup final.. Guess some refs just get a bad reputation based on a game or two. In general tend to agree he is a good ref who seems to communicate well which others don't
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenberg did drop a bollock when be gave that handball at City vs Spurs. Otherwise I'd say hes the best nowadays. Hate Atkinson. Hes most overrated going. Fact hes going to Euros is a joke
Guest FriendlyRam Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Oliver is the best closely followed by Clattenburg. Dean, Atkinson & Mariner are ok. Sometimes control games really well but other times shite. Pawson, Moss, Madley. The less said the better. Madley for me is on another level. We've had him 3 or 4 times and every time he's looked to shaft us in some way shape or form, away at Burnley a couple of seasons ago he couldn't wait to send Martin off, booked him the first time for absolutely nothing and then had the biggest grin on his face when he blew up for a "dive", couldn't get his yellow and red cards out quick enough, even though it was a trip over the ball and we scored straight after the incident, MArtin shouting "I slipped".. then last season at home to Wigan every little thing he blew up for, gave them absolutely everything, booked so many of our players it was unreal, our lads gave up in the end in that game for fear of being sent off. he never lets the game flow, and I'm certain he like the whistle sound because he can't wait to blow the fcking thing. So yes... I totally agree with that wnkstain. Moss... good grief .. I saw yours match with Forest a few seasons ago where he sent Kasper off for throwing the ball hahahaha. it seems certain clubs get certain refs who despise them, us with madley you lot with moss.
StanSP Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenburg/Oliver as the rest have mentioned. From the outside, Clattenburg is seen to favour us (and what is used as their justification is the Utd game last season). But whenever he's reffed us, he's been perfectly impartial and doesn't shy away from big calls. Doesn't lose control of matches and knows how to assert his authority. Michael Oliver is much the same. Not saying they never mistakes, as they do, but as someone else said, they don't use that to tarnish the rest of their performance. Mike Dean isn't as bad as some make out in my opinion. Andre Marriner is alright. Mike Jones/Craig Pawson/Jon Moss/Stuart Attwell all seem very weak. They can't handle big games and often have more controversy about their decisions than other refs. Special mention for Gavin Ward, too. Twat.
mancunianfox Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenburg hates utd. Refs them like I would so he's alright with me!
Lionator Posted 28 April 2016 Posted 28 April 2016 Clattenburg is the only one who looks like he's played the game to a decent level. Funnily enough out of all of the current PL crop of referees, Moss was the one who played at the highest level (conference north).
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 29 April 2016 Posted 29 April 2016 Funnily enough out of all of the current PL crop of referees, Moss was the one who played at the highest level (conference north). Probably still bitter he never made it.
SystonFox Posted 29 April 2016 Posted 29 April 2016 My mates the ref tonight In all seriousness and I'm gonna throw a curveball in here cos I don't think anyone has said them but I really rate that Mark Clattenburg and Michael Oliver. Clattenburg was more like CLASSenburg last weekend and Michael Oliver is the ref this weekend. He'll be more like Michael CHAMPIONEES Oliver come monday
ScouseFox Posted 29 April 2016 Posted 29 April 2016 always thought clattenburg was a pr ick. seems right up his own arse. does appear to have turned into a good ref of late (especially for us ).
