That wouldn't affect any interest in Slimani IMO; Ayew is predominantly a winger.

I think we've seen with the Musa deal we aren't paying 23M for a player. We needed a striker in January but the club refused to pay 22-23M quoted for Musa and got him in for 16M, 6 months later. We'd only be interested if the same thing happens with Slimani, around 15-16M.

CSKA holding onto Musa in January had to do with their title fight in Russia. They knew they'd sell him in the summer.

What a pity we can't seem to develop more players through our own Academy. Mercenaries are okay til there's a better offer knocking around.  

 

 

Lucas: predatory, reasonably skilful, average finisher until last year when he turned lethal. OK pace but not electric.

 

Slimani: touch of a rapist and about as quick as Leo but has become a better finisher over the last few years.

Lucas is more about the interplay. He's neat and tidy, not really quick but has a decent eye for where he needs to be and can finish.

 

Slimani holds the ball up brilliantly, would be ideal for flick ons because he wins nigh on every header. Inside the penalty area he's lethal. Getting on the end of crosses from Albrighton and Mahrez he'd cause havoc.

Slimani is a similar player to Ulloa, but a lot better. He'd be an instant upgrade to our squad.

That's really great to hear. I hope we sign him then. I just really want us to consolidate and be a side always pushing for Europa spots. With just a little more class we will tear up the league.
