We need to keep Ulloa because 1) he has has proven that he can make a difference for us. That means that he is another weapon in CR's armoury for when it is needed. 2) he has also proven that he has the right attitude, which is central for how our team has been built 3) if we did sell, we would need to spend considerably more to recruit a replacement and so a deal would have negative financial value ALl in favour of Slimani - I still think we need to recruit - but we should want to keep Ulloa
MarriedaLeicesterGirl Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 They keep saying they want 5 strikers. I'd rather have Slimani over Luan for several reasons: Knows European football, completely different style than all our other strikers, doesn't always look like he is wearing makeup. Also, might make Mahrez happy, since if they play together at the club, it will help their national team (although, the further Algeria go in the Africa Cup, the worse for the club).
Muzzy_no7 Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 I still think we should go H.A.M and get this guy.
foxes21 Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 ulloa will not want to be 5th choice. maybe muskwe is an option for 5th choice? Vardy, Okazaki, Musa, slimani/ulloa, muskwe?

Lets be honest... the addition of Slimani would push Ulloa further down the pecking order and that would also push him further out the door. Its an either/ or situation, i'm afraid

Unless James has shown his worth in training. Or unless Amartey has, but Claudio keeps playing him at RB... We also need a proper, out and out RB, defensive or attacking minded, just someone who's preferred position is RB.

We have Amartey, Hernandez and Simpson who can play RB.. and we have James, king, amartey, Mendy Drinky and benaloune who can play CM... If we intend on that just being 2 CM positions to fill i think thats plenty, if we plan on playing theee then i can see a need for an extra one. Although if thats the case then i'd expect us to go for a young lad with potential rather than someone who is going to sulk a little if dropped to the bench for a couple of games...

Max Power Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 If Swansea come in with big money for Ulloa then let him go and bring in Slimani. Wouldn't be forcing Ulloa out the door though

Yes, we have "depth" for the RB position, but we don't have quality depth. If the transfer window closes and Simpson suffers an career ending injury, we're fvcked. The same can't be said for any other starter (unless we are playing with 3 CMs). Lemina... please. (Last I saw, Schalke were preparing a 23m euro bid, but Juve are now saying he's not for sale.)

Now maybe you can come to that conclusion in January... but as for now, i'd have to diagree

If Amartey was the Man he would be playing, just like James. We need a class box to box player.

Dan Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 I want him. I think we're probably a forward light and he'll fit the bill.
Thracian Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 I'm not sure. He sounds a decent enough player but if people are talking about "a pal for Mahrez" does that mean they're both going to want to leave at the same time if we don't better whatever they're being accept being offered somewhere else?. What a pity we can't seem to develop more players through our own Academy. Mercenaries are okay til there's a better offer knocking around.
Will1981 Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 Sporting now in for Mario Gomez so probably means Slimani is leaving. http://desporto.sapo.pt/futebol/primeira_liga/artigo/2016/08/04/mario-gomez-nao-e-um-sonho-impossivel-para-jesus

Amartey isn't a terribly great RB from what I've seen of him

But I think he uses the ball really well and adds something else going forward as he's good at linking up. Get his positioning sorted and he could be very good.

foxile5 Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 Is there any evidence suggesting that we're in for the guy, anything concrete at all?
notnow john Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 Musa, Scluup and Marhez off to the afcon for a month, we'd be mugs to sign another one! Next.
