Kitchandro Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 Rooney and Sterling have had absolutely shocking seasons. It's just unbelievable.
HEGGSY Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 why not play 442 if you're playing with two central midfielders, two wingers and two strikers? Rooney's not good enough to play upfront let alone central midfield. That will surely be horribly exposed too because besides Dier there's not really any discipline. *this is disgusting Can confirm as I was there.
Danno Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 That's disgusting. Especially the full backs... how on earth have Danny Rose and Kyle Walker got in? Both awfulProbably because they were the two best fullbacks in the league this season or something?
Larry_LCFC Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 Probably because they were the two best fullbacks in the league this season or something?Doesn't that mean they should be the bench?
Donut Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 Pretty much the team i suggested in the formations thread Feel free to have a right go if we lose.
jonny fox Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 once drinkwater was left out i lost interest with england and the clown that managers them.theres no point playing vardy anyway unless he signs for spurs he wont get a pass, drinky was left out because he dosent play the clowns way drinky likes to get the ball forward quickly ie for vardy to run onto.in fact hodgson told shearer that drinkwater was the most impressive midfeilder in the prem this season then leaves him out two faced.there afain this is a manager who was sacked at blackburn and liverpool never won anything.the irony is claudio cold do a better job managing england by playing english football fast and direct as he proved with the prem title and he is italianbut then again we dont want to loose him do we
Guest ttfn Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 Fancy lining up 4-3-3 in the first game of the tournament when you've picked one winger and five centre forwards in your squad.
AKCJ Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 Fancy lining up 4-3-3 in the first game of the tournament when you've picked one winger and five centre forwards in your squad. It's absolutely incredible, isn't it!? The bloke needs to go.
ScouseFox Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 we should've just taken one striker really, i reckon we'll be able to count on one finger the number of minutes vardy, rooney, rashford and sturridge actually spend in a central striking position on the pitch.
J.Lisemore Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 I'd be amazed if we made it to the QF With Rooney in centre mid.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 You drop Rooney for a proper midfielder and it starts looking alright. It's also a framework in which a 4-4-2 may materialise, that would then shout for the inclusion of Vardy.
StanSP Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 Second top premier league goalscorer happens to be English going into a major tournament. What shall we do with him Roy? Drop him. Genius! I give up. AND Russia's main central defenders have a combined age of 69. Imagine if we had a quick, pacy, goalscoring striker in the squad that could take full advantage of that....
RowlattsFox Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 Russia are unlikely to defend high though. If he's going to play that formation then I'd rather he didn't play Vardy out wide. will it be Rooney or Ali in the attacking midfielder role? If he wanted to play Rooney in midfield why didn't he at least try him there against Portugal?

Unfortunately Vardy and Kane were told to press the full backs, which meant they were too far wide and Rooney ended up playing as a de facto striker. I think Alli will play the attacking midfierlder role tomorrow, with Rooney either deeper or in one of the wide positions.
Fox92 Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 One up front Hodgson Only positive of going out is that the FA should sack him. First time in a long long time we've got two 20+ goalscorers and we're not starting one of them.

First time in a long long time we've got two 20+ goalscorers and we're not starting one of them. Very few teams play with two out-and-out strikers these days, not even Leicester (Okazaki plays deeper than Vardy). England won 10 out of 10 qualifiers with one main striker. Vardy and Kane haven't really been tested together in a front two, and both would be wasted as wingers. So playing with one main striker and the other as back up does have some logic to it, and I suspect most of us would be considerably less bothered about it if Vardy got the nod ahead of Kane. If we don't make the quarters, Hodgson will probably get sacked. However I think we will get to the quarters and possibly even the semis before getting knocked out, and Hodgson willl be safe.
whoareyaaa Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 So he takes 5 strikers and plays one of them, the other in the middle of the park. Magic Roy ****ing Magic mate
Ric Flair Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 This is probably the best we can hope for and Vardy as an impact man. Hopefully we are dog muck and he comes on and does the business and then becomes first choice up top.

Two players have scored 20+ goals in the top flight. There is literally no excuse not to play a 442/4411. We won the league by playing this formation and it was so refreshing to see considering people try and complicate it all these days by playing 5 and then 1. No need for it. As for wingers, Hodgson hasn't even picked any. We're now in a position where we have to play Lallana wide.
whoareyaaa Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 Wtf has Adam lallanna done in his career? Flash in the pan he's good for a few seconds that's it, Sterling can't cross a bridge. We are doomed

I'm not sure if the '92' in your username indicates the year that you born, but if so you're still a relative newcomer to the sorry experience that is being an England fan. And believe me, we spent many years regularly showing up to tournaments and trying to play a traditional 'English' 4-4-2 and we were invariably rigid, predictable and dull - and achieved nothing. The few times we've had some moderate success (Italy in 1990, Euro 1996) were those when we tried something a bit more subtle. The 4-4-2 worked for us this year, but England's track record of using it is pretty terrible.
EnderbyFox Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 3 man midfield of Dier, Rooney and Alli. Christ How are we 4th favourites to win it Just as a comparison, let's look at France's midfield
Benguin Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 Why on Earth are you all accepting that this will be the line up. The line up won't be announced before 5pm at the earliest tomorrow. This is based on what's been guessed at from training
