Babylon Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Thing is we didn't spend much money on most of those. That wasn't his point.
Kitchandro Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 That wasn't his point. His point was it fills him with no excitement. That doesn't necessarily mean because he's not a big name. For me, it fills me with no excitement because now we're an attractive club with money and yet we're apparently willing to spend shit loads on Troy Deeney. It's not like I haven't heard of him so I think he's crap, I know of him and I don't think he's that good.

Which was my point, barely any signings have got people excited. I could probably search your history and find similar dour posts about most of our signings. Signings aren't made to get you excited, they are made to win football matches. Which is something all those other signings that that people found boring, have happened to do very well.
foxes21 Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 we'll be able to get keane on the cheap next summer, his contract run out in 2018
Clever Fox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Shane Duffy the ex Everton player would be a better option for a fraction of the price. A tall proper centre half who can play on the ground also.
Realist Guy In The Room Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Keane would be an excellent signing. Improved so much since his time here. Burnley would not turn down £20m including add ons. Be happy if we went to that level for him.
foxes21 Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 completely forgot wasil signed a new contract, so we have 4 cbs now. do we really need a 5th? suppose it depends on where hernandez will be playing, rb or cb .

Guest Lcfc82 Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 We still got Benny and Moore. Can see these 2 being moved on
LCFC FOX Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Can see these 2 being moved on I think Benalouane will get a chance if he stays. Not Moore though. I'd sooner have benny than Wasyl to be fair. Think Wasyl is too old now
AKCJ Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 The money in the PL is ridiculous. We're at a stage where clubs like Bournemouth and Watford can reject £20mill for their players. It's no wonder clubs end up looking abroad. Look no further than Kante at £5.5mill. Like I said in another thread, if we had Heskey now we'd be looking at selling him for £25million. ...and the rest. He was 23 when we sold him and an England regular. I'd want the bidding to start at 30m in this market.
GaelicFox Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 ...and the rest. He was 23 when we sold him and an England regular. I'd want the bidding to start at 30m in this market. Correct 30-35 would easily be his price
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 I think Benalouane will get a chance if he stays. Not Moore though. I'd sooner have benny than Wasyl to be fair. Think Wasyl is too old now He was fine for the final two games of last season, at the start of next season he will be 3 months older. I reckon He'll be fine
Callabinho Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 I like Benny, I've heard a lot his problems stemmed from his struggle with the language. I think he's talented and versatile enough to keep.
lancyclaret Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 Keane would be an excellent signing. Improved so much since his time here. Burnley would not turn down £20m including add ons. Be happy if we went to that level for him. I'd be very happy too!! With £20 million. I'm sort of hoping Burnley do sell Keane for a massive fee - as it will p*ss off all the Championship clubs' fans like Derby and Brighton....they think the likes of Dunk, Shackell and Keogh are better and worth more than Keane. If he goes to Foxes (or Everton) for nearly £20 million that will shut up the Seagulls and Rams fans. I think Stoke are out of the running - they are not willing to go higher than £10 million for Keane. We've already got a top replacement for Keane in James Tarkowski, who we signed for £3 million from Brentford in January. Tarkowski is about the same age but without any PL experience. He is a bit more robust than Keane but not as assured. Keane is skilful, neat and tidy but can be bullied by a physical striker (Deeney type).
SystonFox Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 We'll sign tarkowski off you as well then in that case. It's what all good market leaders do
Gerard Posted 22 June 2016 Posted 22 June 2016 ...and the rest. He was 23 when we sold him and an England regular. I'd want the bidding to start at 30m in this market. I'd want more, Heskey would be brilliant in this team alongside Vardy. If there's one player in our history we could clone and have him back at the club now in their pomp it would have to be Heskey for me. Edit: Unless Vardy goes, then it would be Lineker.
Guest Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 I really don't understand this. Why would we offer more than the reported £15m for Keane. He was young when he played for us but when he played against us 2 years ago he looked bang average. Has he really come on since then?
Muzzy_no7 Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 ****ing hell. 20m for Keane makes 30m for Deeney look like the bargain of the century.

lancyclaret Posted 23 June 2016 Posted 23 June 2016 Rio Ferdinand last season said the three best young English centre-halves were John Stones, Eric Dier and Michael Keane. Keane should command the same sort of fee as the other two.

Keane should command the same sort of fee as the other two. I mentioned earlier on the thread he (could) be one of those players who develops into a real quality PL CB, just like Everton's John Stones who was purchased from Barnsley. It would be an investment in the future given Keane has still got time to develop. I was impressed with Keane when he was here, seemed he was a good ball playing CB. With the defenders we have, I think it'd be a good move for him, he would learn a lot from our guys, but nevertheless he wouldn't be first choice here I wouldn't think. Whereas Burnley he would be I reckon.
