Ric Flair Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 The problem we have is if we sell him we have to find a replacement who is prepared to come in initially as 4th choice striker, not an easy task.
foxfanazer Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 I totally understand if he wants to leave. He's been more than patient and when called upon he's scored some big goals for us. Never heard him grumble to the press or anything like that. Plus Swansea would presumably pay him more as their 1st choice striker than we would for him to be 3rd or 4th choice here

Not at all, if we play our usual 4-4-1-1 we could lose Okazaki from the first XI Vardy Musa - NEW SIGNING - Mahrez Drinkwater - Mendy
AjcW Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 He gave us a plan B, so in that sense he does need to be replaced. Yes he might on paper be 4th choice, but compared to our fourth choice in other positions, his game time is a lot more guaranteed, he came on a lot last season for the last half hour, and some players thrive on that, at times it's the most important phase of the game. I hope he stays and I think he will.
Ianlcfc Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 can't question his stones, and can score why let him go!
Jon the Hat Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 If he really wants to go I would let him, but really prefer if he would stay.

Personally I don't see Musa playing out wide most of the time, I think he'll be behind Vardy. The are so many options already with Gray, Okazaki, Musa. I would like another striker though so I'd be open to this but just aware it's not as easy to replace squad players.

If we sold Ulloa for £10m and bought, for example Slimani for £20m then that would appear good business. Slimani has similar attributes to Ulloa but a better player and two years younger. He's a grafter who is magnificent in the air and a proven goalscorer who can play No9 or No10. Okazaki would no doubt be relegated 4th choice striker and we could have Slimani & Musa competing for No10 and Musa, Albrighton, Gray and Schlupp competing for left wing. It would give us some great options.

At £40k a week and a £10m offer it will cost us £14m to keep him as 4th choice striker. It's great business to sell squad players who aren't going to get any better for good money. But a replacement would cost much more. At £10m you aren't going to get another squad player? It's silly to talk about selling squad players and simply as that. The whole point is that it is a squad. He's very good at what he does and is integral for us in a lot of games in scoring late goals and holding the ball up. No one and I mean no one would do a better job at what Leo does for under £20m for us. Again I stress Ulloa had the best conversion rate of anyone with 5+ goals last year. Wouldnt even consider selling him and we'll play 50+ games this year so he'll have a big responsibility and chance to play. Really hope he stays

Really hope he stays As far as I'm concerned I'm quite ambiguous about whether we should sell Ulloa or Schlupp for that matter. I'm perfectly happy with what Ranieri and the club see as the best course of action. On one hand both are good squad players but on the other hand £10m+ for players who aren't in the first XI is good business. I guess it all depends on who we can replace them with and what role does Ranieri anticipate for both players this season.

Muzzy_no7 Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 If we get between 25-30million for Ulloa and Schlupp and then go and get Brady and someone like Wilson/Gray I see no reason to complain.
Guest Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 If we get Slimani then I'd let ulloa leave if he wants to.

All 23-25 squad members will. We'll have a lot of extra games this year. And I do completely take your point but IMO £10m is definitely not good business for those outside a first eleven. Money for now is largely irrelevant for us (especially revenue received from transfers). We've already made £32m from Kante and £5-8m on Kram. I'd rather keep what we have and only now bring in if it really improves the first team as for me schlupp and ulloa are great squad additions

GeorgeTheFox Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 Swansea are desperate for strikers. We can milk a bit more out of them for this is reckon. Would rather keep him though

nnfox Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 Gotta keep him. He is big and strong and good in the air. Defensively he is a massive benefit to have in the box for corners. He is our plan B, he offers a change in style if things aren't going our way. Scores important goals too. Stat of the day. Minutes per goal last season: Vardy 130 Okazaki 414 Ulloa 161 Kane 134 Giroud 152 Rooney 301

Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 Apparently they're after Llorente now. We may have told them where to go.
