Rob1742 Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 The problem now Vards is on a fortune, is that they are all now coming forward looking for more. Ulloa, Schlupp etc are worth keeping, but are probably in what they are currently worth. Not good business to start offering these players £40k a week or whatever they are after. It was only a few years ago we had a ceiling of £50k and that was for the legend that was Cambiasso
Guest Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 I hope we keep ulloa unless we pick up one more attacker - someone who can head a ball and hold it up. Neither Vardy or Musa are made for that sort of game. If we'd only get hold of Slimani then I'd probably be happy to sell Ulloa for a club record fee (alright for more than he cost). he deserves to be at a team where he can start. he's good enough to be a lower prem main striker. If he goes to Swansea I can see him netting 10 - 13 goals.

As for what a 'hold up' player is, it doesn't have to be someone who is 6ft3+ and great in the air. Vardy is often used as an out ball, and can be required to 'hold up' the ball. Leo is nearly 30, doesn't really have a chance of challenging for the first XI, so why shouldn't we look to cash in and improve the squad? Yes and and shinji and sigurdsson both might play off a striker if we play as we did last year but shinji doesn't create anything. He's a poacher who runs himself into the ground. Creatively he's nothing special at all but he was valued as he did the not so glamorous side well. Whereas sigurdsson could positionally be similar to Okazaki he would be a much better link with any central midfielders and would create far more. Sigurdsson is a 10 or midfielder. But anyway I take your point. But have to disagree re holding up the ball. Sigurdsson would never be strong enough to win an aerial battle nor would he be quick enough to run in behind as Vardy does as you mention. Hes a superb creative player but he certainly wouldn't be effective at holding up the ball

But this is what happens when certain payers get huge pay rises and other contracts are just left (if this is about money - of course, it might not be and there might actually be "tension" of somesort). I absolutely would not pay them the same and it's an absurd suggestion to say we should. You simply can't pay your reserves the same as your first team. and the tension is simply about new strikers coming in. He's unsure of his position and knows teams are sniffing around...

Bluearmyfox28 Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 If true, then the club need to show a real sign of intent & meet Slimani's asking price.
WoodyFox Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 Would be a shame to see him go as he's been a reliable and at times quality player. However, as the reports suggest, the fact he's willing to drop down to a 'lesser' team kind of proves his level and gives us a reason to go out and sign another consistently quality striker (Slimani).

Matt Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 So if that's true, with my extensive Football Manager knowledge, Ranieri should be advising him to look for a new agent.
Fox92 Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 Agents again, what a surprise. Glad we rejected the £7mill too - not a good enough offer.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 I don't think we could sell Leo unless the club had one or two strikers firmly on the radar. I wouldn't want us to sell Ulloa, but do believe we need to sign a fifth striker. Vardy, Musa, Okazaki, Ulloa and (fifth new striker).
davieG Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 Chilwell and Ulloa going nowhere - CR http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2016/07/22/25856822/-
dbtcity Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 7m for a proven goal getter in the prem...... 9m for schlupp.... then there's villa, newcastle and norwich considering spunking 15m on Mcormack clubs must genuinely think we're mugs
fuchsntf Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 We need to get King Dick back. All get onya Ouija boards tonight to give him a call. He needs to get naves sorted (agents). You see how agents and low grade journalists, love to stir things up. Probably Ulloa's agent said to him that he had a move lined up, and has gone off in a huff, after Ulloa told him he wants to stay... Agent reckoned shit stirring will get him his bonus....
FuchingKante Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 I think he offers a lot for the team, not only in an attacking sense but he tracks back a lot and is great at defending corners. Don't think we will be looking to sell.

How could his value have possibly dropped since we signed him? As soon as it said 'Sky sources' in that original SSN report it was obvious it had to be his agent. Obviously his Mr 10% stands to make a bit of money if he was to make a transfer. To jeopardise his client's reputation and potentially the team spirit at the club he plays for is pretty disgusting behaviour - even for an agent. Hope Leo tells him where to go.
AyewJoking Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 If swansea offer 7million i doubt that is the highest they will go. Probably hoped we would negotiate but we just told em to jog on
