Fox92 Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Solid top ten finish and win the FA Cup, I'll be happy. FA Cup at long last! Don't think we'll do anything in Europe, mind, don't think we have enough quality.
Callabinho Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Tenth I think. I stand firmly by my opinion that losing Kante has meant we have lost the vital piece in the package that made us champions, in my opinion he is irreplaceable, and we will suffer as a result.
Babylon Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 I don't expect anything but the players giving 100% every game. The aim considering we're champions has to be top 4, but other teams have a say in that. The big clubs get their act together and top 8 could still be a very good season. A good cup run would be good, but perhaps too much to ask fighting on four fronts this year.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 I still think we've got a good chance of retaining champions league football, all of our competitors are in transition years. Arsenal are probably the only club that is as stable as us atm.
rn9013 Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Personally I would be very happy with a top 10 finish if we can also get out of the CL group stage. I do worry slightly at the expectations that appear to be floating around about a top 4 finish etc.....the way I look at it is that we have won the Premier League!! No matter what happens our name will be on the trophy forever, lets just enjoy everything to come this season. ICC,Community Shield, Champions league....I mean it was only 9 months ago we would have all taken Premier League safety. Lets all enjoy this season.....we may never see anything like it again
kingfox Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 Top 10 will satisfy me. Man Utd, Chelsea & Liverpool should all improve, add to them Man City, Arsenal & Spurs then that should be your top six. Leicester, West Ham & Everton will all look to play spoiler, Southampton are yet again a tough one to judge, but I wouldn't be surprised if they finish top 10. The impact of Champions League football will surely have an impact at some points, going deep in the FA Cup could possibly hinder us as well. Think we're a quality CM & ST away from competing with the likes of Spurs, Arsenal & Liverpool for possibly a top six finish, rather than competing with the likes of West Ham & Everton for 7th- 10th.
AKCJ Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 I just want to be in a position where our reputation has been enhanced even further by this time next season. Whether that be a Cup win, a top6 finish, a good run in Europe or whatever. I don't want this ride to end.
sylofox Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 People tipping spuds is a funny one. Will they use last season like we did to win the Championship as we did after Watford. Or will the grief consume them and they struggle for a top 10 spot. The whole season could be in the balance after the first five games. As for our season any form of Europe from the league. A knock out place in the CL FA Cup win League cop semi's for our second string. The u21's to win to win this new cup comp. Oh yes nearly forgot to see the manure fans crying next Sunday.
Benji Posted 31 July 2016 Posted 31 July 2016 I can understand people wanting an FA Cup win but I think we have to accept that's likely to be one for the future. With the Champions League and the importance financially of a safe League finish we just aren't going to be seeing any first team players in the two domestic cups. We'd need to hope our second string could get us to the semi finals at least and I'd be surprised if they were good enough for that. Reaching the knock-outs of the CL and going out having given one of the real top teams a run for their money, together with a top 8 league finish would be a very good and respectable consolidation season for me.

I don't want this ride to end. only way to do that is to get top 4 again, with the squad as it is I don't think that is possible. I have said this numerous times but the departure of Kante demands a change in tactics and new signings to solidify our new tactics. The era of 4-4-2 is over for us. As currently constituted there is no way we finish top 6-7 especially with the increased work load.
who-izzet Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 Anywhere from 1st-20th but seriously I couldn't pick between 4th and 9th, I think extra games this season will take it's toll and some new players may take time to adjust. Perhaps a cup appearance as we have a cracking squad now. 2nd or 3rd in the champions League group, depends who we get. We couldn't replace Mahrez this season so IF he goes then lower expectations for sure!
purpleronnie Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 Top 10, decent FA cup run and be competitive in the CL.
MrSpaM Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 Expecting the same as the manager, the players and the owners 40pts Then we'll see about winning cups and getting in the champions league again Honestly couldn't care less if we just get the 40pts required to stay up
filbertway Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 Top 10 - any lower would be seriously under achieving considering we've seen what this squad is capable of. No expectations in the league cup as we have no respect for it. FA Cup, depending on draws I'd expect 5th round minimum. Champions league, again it depends on draw, but being top seeds I'd expect us to be finishing top 2. There's some absolute dross in the pots 3 and 4.
whetstonefox Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 League - top 8 CL last 16, surely worst case scenario is we end up in Europa league League cup - not fussed FA Cup - depends entirely what happens between now and Dec 31

As long as we don't get relegated I'm happy I think the people expecting us to waltz into the champions league again next season are living in a dream world in all honesty. I actually fear for some peoples sanity this season after seeing the knee jerk reaction to losing a pre season friendly. I'm taking the realistic approach in that we are probably going to lose a few more games next season, and I'm definitely not going to go doom and gloom the minute we lose two games on the bounce, like I know a fair few will here. Want us to do well but I'm definitely not going to be berating the team week in week out if it looks like we'll finish in the bottom half of the table.
sm1 Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 Hoping for a Europa league spot in the league and knock out stages of the CL. Cup competitions can wait for another year.
Clever Fox Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 There's no doubt Kante is going to be a big loss. On the plus side Hernandaz is a good addition who I think will play right back and cover for Wes and Huth. Armatey is looking quality and if he kicks on will be improve us going forward. My worries are we still haven't signed the Ball playing Midfielder and our striker options. I'm not sure Musa is the answer but it's early days. That leaves Vardy and Ulloa to carry the responsibility for Goals, and I think teams will be more aware of them. Hoping for top 6 and a Good cup run. I'll be happy though if we finish above Arsenal and Spurs. Of the big Clubs I feel Arsenal will struggle which is what they deserve.
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 August 2016 Posted 1 August 2016 I can't see the 'big clubs' having as bad as season this term. Reason being their managers...pretty much all exceptional. We need to keep Mahrez and we need a good start...if we don't start well the pressure will build and the media will be all over 'one season wonders' etc.. The loss of Kante could well be massive I think. Like Babs, I'd he happy with 100% effort and commitment and I'd be content with making Europe (6th or 7th).

So, like Babs nice common sense posts, but no real true believers of what passed before your Very eyes last season. Unbelievers, atheist to the fearless cause....Claudio Ranieri And our own King Dick have unfinished business. Once again 40pts, dreams to be achieved in the first rounds of the CL and tallyho. One hero passes on 5 others push forward to take his place. Believe in first the dream, then watch those hopes become facts, who said dreams are only possible once in a life time, be fearless and wash away those Cobwebs of the Leicester of old, this is the new era of 'doing a leicester' He who dares ...!!
